No Labels, no candidate.

"The centrist group No Labels has abandoned its plans to run a presidential ticket in the 2024 election, having failed to recruit a candidate, its leader, Nancy Jacobson, said on Thursday," the NYT reports.

"The group had told donors and members that it would put forward a candidate if President Biden and former President Donald J. Trump were the main parties’ nominees.... When former Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, the highest-profile No Labels supporter, died last week, the organization was left with little political firepower to recruit potential candidates. "

How pathetic. In a nation of 350 million they couldn't find one centrist who could plausibly handle the job of President?

No Labels is fairly large group without any candidate. At the moment I think that nothing I can say will get them to support Trump; and I think that the Dems think these people will vote for them in the end, no matter what.
Just as the Dems think they can dump all over the Jews and still get their support. Biden has told Israel that if it doesn't declare an immediate ceasefire the US will stop supporting it. The Dearborn Hamas-lovers get their way. You support the Dems, you support this.
It's my opinion that Dem support in many groups -liberals, blacks, Jews - is being stressed like metal in an old jet - hairline fractures are everywhere. But there's nowhere for the stressed Dems to go except to the (EWWWW) Republicans. Perhaps the whole thing will just -- fail. Quite suddenly, just fail. For instance, almost no one voted for Cavalier Johnson, the mayor of Milwaukee, on April 4th though there were over 150,000 in Milwaukee who voted on Question 1. No one bothered with going a few lines down the ballot and checking a box in order to show support for the present mayor. "He's Dem, what else can we do, but God, what a mess this city is."

What, no Nikki? Even loser orgs who don't have a candidate would rather just disband than support Haley.

In short, they couldn't find a single candidate that didn't take net votes from Shit For Brains Biden.

I'll run as the No Labels candidate.

I have as much chance of getting elected as anyone else they could get on the ballot.

Also, if I run under my nom de plume, I have a chance of avoiding a midnight SWAT raid from Biden's DOJ/IRS.

Little political firepower or the fear that they would damage whatever chance Biden has?

No Labels was just a way to siphon off disgruntled Biden voters and keep them from voting for Trump. And hammer Trump from a Globalist direction.

In any case, it was a typical fake Establishment ploy. "No Labels" - gosh we're just "Mavericks" who don't want all this bickering, fighting and partisanship and want to join together with all the "centrists" for the good of the country. Y'know like the Gang of 8.

Not to mention: support for wars in the Middle east, open borders, massive foreign aid, war in Ukraine, globalism, Defense spending, climate change, and Social security "reform".

Lieberman was the perfect "No Labels" guy. Gore's VP and McCain's almost VP. Did he ever get a "Label" from the NYTs ? Other than "moderate" or "Independent"? Because if you agree with the NYT's you don't get a bad label. You're never "extreme". You're never "hard X" or "Ultra-Y", you're not even Leftwing.

They only wanted to recruit someone who would hurt Trump because they are a Uniparty front.

Nobody wanted the No Labels nomination because they knew if Trump won again, then they'd be blamed. (People are still blaming Ross Perot for handing the 1992 election to Bill Clinton, even though Perot probably took more votes away from Clinton than he did from Bush.)

If the democratic party can put forward a litany of ancient, queer and senile candidates for their party I'm sure 'No Labels' (isn't No Labels a label?) can too. What a lame excuse.

No Labels is the dumbest name ever for an American political movement. Not the most dishonest by a long shot. Before them were the Copperheads, a dumb name placed on the Peace Democrats by the Republicans during the Civil War, comparing those who wanted to end the war against the Confederacy to venomous vipers that because less dumb when those peaceniks adopted the intended insult as a badge of honor. And before them came the Whigs, the progenitors of the Republican Party. By the 1850s, there had been Whigs in politics, either here or in the Mother Country for two hundred years, so they were a known quantity without doubt, no matter that their name derived from the Scottish equivalent of giddyup horsey! Consequently, the Copperheads and the Whigs were far less dumb than the No Labels. Vote No Labels! You have no idea what we believe or how we think because we won't tell you. But cast that No Labels vote in heedless assurance anyway. What's to lose? Afterward, you should lay the mortgage money on the 100 to 1 gelding running in that claimer at Calder Park. What's to lose?

They should definitely change the name before the next election cycle in '28. No Liebermans comes immediately to mind as fashionably anti-Semitic.

+1, Yancey

Not too surprising given that NYT poll a couple weeks back that showed Trump was holding almost all of the people that voted for him in 2020 but at least 1 Biden voter in 10 was headed for the exit (Biden's NPV margin of 7 million votes came almost entirely from California and New York, and he won eight states for a total 93 EVs including MI, PA, and GA with margins of less than 10%)

Obviously.

But that would only make sense if you take what No Labels says at face value.

They are obviously just a Uniparty Globalist con game.

At this point the only people stupid enough to support the DC Regime are Single Women, simp incel males, and general douchebags.

Well, it looks like Tulsi wasn't willing, and Pat Paulsen wasn't available, although he'll be voting Democrat.

Speaking of untenable positions, how can one berate another for not having their 'facts right', while nevertheless providing no facts of their own as counterpoint or clarification?

Very glad to hear this. The race is not Biden v Trump. It's Trump v not Trump. No labels would not pull from Trump, it would split not Trump and deliver Trump. I speak as a not Trump who would abandon Biden in a second if Trump were not on the ballot.

I guess ultimately the Never-Trump wing of the Republican Party is smaller than the main-stream press imagines it to be (or wishes it to be).

This is not news to anyone living in the real world.

There are no centrists. There are people willing to compromise their principles so "we can all get along." The compromises, however, only lead in one direction.

Where I live, there's both a decent brewery (fun place and I like some of their beers) and a very good Argentinian rock band called No Label. If this "party" had only anointed a candidate, they could have turned Houston... whatever color No Label is, by holding a thoroughly branded fundraiser!

But they didn't.

Instead we have Trump and Biden neck and neck in most polls.

I don't think I have read a bigger pile of bullshit in my life:

You really expect anyone to believe you would vote for Ron DeSantis or Nicki Haley if they would have won the nomination, Readering? Really?

Readering said...

YW: No expectations when it comes to your your posts.

But for Trump, I would not vote for Biden, just as I did not vote for him in 20 or 24 primaries. Was planning to sit out 20 general election until Trump got covid and went off the deep end. I wrote as much at the time. But don't expect you to remember.

In a system like America has with its winner-take-all electoral system and with only two parties involved it is kind of inevitable that non-Dem or non-Rep nominees are doomed from the start. American constitutional arrangements for POTUS elections are designed to give voters just two choices, and often both bad choices at that. Winner take all, no runoffs, state by state electoral law trivia, and massive opportunities for corruption just add to the mess. I believe it's now time to just stand aside and let it burn tbh.
