Could the story "Fire consumes Copenhagen’s 400-year-old stock market building" have anything to do with Trump?

Not really, but after I read that Washington Post article, I opened the comments section fully expecting to find someone connecting it to Trump.

I was not disappointed. The 3rd most-liked comment is: "I know the cause: They started trading trumpy’s Truth Social, and the trash caught fire."

When every aspect of the identity of a human being depends on Trump hate what becomes of the empty vessel when he goes away?

The leftist losers are so filled with rage - they cannot see straight.

These same hive-minders would gladly see our nation burn to the ground than let Trump ever step foot in the WH again.

A Jungian Archetype is a collectively assumed symbol, expression, or way of behaving, a prototype upon which others are modelled. Jung proposed the existence of universal prototypes of ideas that channel experiences and emotions, which result in recognizable and typical patterns of behavior. At any given time, each of us is likely to be operating under at least one of the archetypal patterns, a character carefully put on for the known behavioral outcome. When the conscious mind chooses to ignore these archetypal behavior patterns we become caught up in the belief that we are what we are merely experiencing - this provides a skewed sense of individual identity. This exploration of archetypes and their innate characteristics through figurative sculptural work attempts to expose the state of the human condition – while simultaneously revealing my own positions and choices.

Trump is the Jungian "Scarecrow" archetype for these people. A scarecrow is a dimension of the Jungian archetype and also a spiritual symbol that is most commonly referred to as “the shadow”. This is because Scarecrows represent monstrous emotions and thoughts, which often provoke feelings of fear and dread.

Tl;Dr - These people are well and truly fucked up. Like seriously.

Ann, you should read your own comments. The same, but always directed at Biden.

Back when "Bird Box" came out on streaming services, I stuck it out and watched all the way through. My initial reaction was 'meh,' but it occurred to me that it was a backhanded commentary on Trump-despair, sort of like screaming at the sky, but with resignation rather than resolve. I detested the ending, where survivors hunkered down in a (presumably) off-grid collective, with a covering to hide them from "the shadow" that drove people to madness and suicide. Going out with a whimper didn't look like a good end.

Rise Space Mounatin (8:16) talked about archetypes triggering me.

In Beowulf a monster takes over the beautiful people's house built by the King. Anyone who trusts in the King's power to enforce the law and sleeps in his hall is killed and eaten by the monster Grendel. No one can fight Grendel because swords break on his armor-like skin like rights for conservatives in New York city courts. Beowulf comes and fights Grendel a new way, hand-to-hand. He tears off Grendel's arm and Grendel runs away to his mother's basement where he dies. Then Grendel's Mom, angry as an NPR editor being asked about why she has no editors representing the views of half the taxpayers supporting NPR, attacks the hall where people are sleeping, once trusting once more in the King's power. She kills and eats them, slobbering like a Wapo reporter at a Trump trial. Beowulf tracks her to her lair which in under a cold, deep, dark lake, as cold and dark as the law of a tyrant regime. He dives in and people give up hope. No one can fight lawfare, I mean no one can fight a monster hiding in deep, dark, cold waters. But Beowulf does fight down there and wins. He kills the monster and sets the land free and this makes him an archetypal hero. Go Beowulf.

RSM: Excellent. That is the root cause of the Democrats problem in the era of Trump. The more outrageous Donald becomes the more outraged Pavlov's dogs drool like Niagara falls which makes Trump much more popular with his base helps to generate more name recognition free advertising and campaign contributions.

I'm in Copenhagen often and it's one of the finest buildings in the city. This is a huge loss for the city. I'm sure it will be rebuilt, but it'll take time.

Of course the idiotic commenter wasn't actually blaming Trump, just trying to impress like minded readers with a lame joke (the building hasn't been used as a stock exchange since the 70's)

Trump destroyed the Børsen! I have the proof on video.

TDS in full bloom. Holy Moly would compel Althouse to read her comments, but can't cite a single example of "the same, but always directed at Biden". TDS is 1% documented fact and 99% fever dreams.

Take a long restful vacation in a red state, Holy Moly. Eat barbeque. Wash the purple dye from your hair. Stop blocking traffic. Mingle with people with both feet firmly planted in reality.

Third-grade teacher told her students she was a Democrat and was voting for Joe Biden. When she asked them who they would vote for, all the children, wishing to please their teacher, raised their hands and said they, too, would vote for Joe Biden.

But one little boy did not raise his hand.

The teacher asked him why, and he said his parents were Republicans who told him they were voting for Donald Trump and that he should, too.

"Well," the teacher replied, "if your mother was an idiot and your father was an idiot, and they told you who to vote for, would you do what they said?"

"Yes," said the boy. "If my parents were idiots, they'd be voting for Joe Biden."

After they closed all the mental hospitals in the area, each of the former patients got a lifetime subscription to the Washington Post--and the address of the letters to the editor section. Those letters aren't going to write themselves!

@ Holy Moly! False equivalence. A lot of people here criticise Biden, and perhaps not always fairly. I don't recall anyone here blaming him for things he is in no wise connected to. There probably are some, just by law of averages. But they don't get the oodles of congratulations that "3rd-highest rated" WaPo comments do.

I suspect you understand the difference but eithger refuse to see it or refuse to admit it.

Thank you for playing.

Hey, Althouse! I play that game in the NYT comments section. If there are comments on a cake recipe how long before DJT appears? Equally fun is to time how long before the N word appears in a rap song. The latter game can be enhanced by timing the appearance of motherfucker.

Regarding the actual fire and its cause, I noticed that the front of the building is entirely obscured by scaffolding draped in some kind of cloth or fabric, which suggests there had been ongoing restoration to the façade. Checking the Reuters confirmed that supposition exactly. It's highly probable the fire will be linked to mishandled equipment, such as a heater or forge for metalworking, The Børsen has hundreds of meters of bronze gutters, downspouts, and gargoyles. Work on the restoration probably set the roof beams ablaze. This is going to prove to be a similar case to the Notre Dame fire five years ago.

Many of the workers involved in the Notre Dame restoration project were Muslim migrants who may have been deliberately careless. The same may be true in this case. Migrants have almost completely replaced native-born Europeans in the trades throughout the EU.
