With RFK now in the race there is the possibility that neither Biden nor Trump will get the required 270 electoral votes. If that happens then the House elects the President. Each State gets one vote. All that is needed to win is 26 votes.
The coming resignations of Republican house members would put the Democrats in the majority.
When the Democrats take over the house prior to the November election because of the resignations of anti-Trump Republicans, the first thing they will do is pass legislation banning Trump from the ballot. Count on it.
You will also see an end to all Biden corruption investigations.
That's about when I was walking the dog this morning, as flurries fell. Not what I want to see in late March. Still, the clothes that were on the line this morning were dry when I got home from work. Hooray for wind!
Joe Lieberman has died I see, at age 82. He was younger than Nancy Pelosi. Younger than Mitch McConnell. Less than a year older than Joe Biden. Much younger than Chuck Grassley. I applaud his decision to relinquish his hold on the reins of power when he did (even if that release of power was a result of his changing politics). More politicians should follow his example.
They’ve found the bodies of two of the six missing construction workers from the bridge collapse in Baltimore. They were in a pickup truck under 25 feet of water. RIP
I watched the NTSB presser on TV earlier tonight. That investigation is clearly going to take a while. The fact that some containers held hazardous materials, and were breached during the collision, is very concerning. Even more concerning was the information that the way the bridge was designed, if part of it went then the whole bridge would necessarily fail. Worse, there are a lot of bridges designed on the same non-redundant principles. Scary. Fixing that would be a great use of the Infrastucture Investment and Jobs Act, but I’m certain Joe Biden would rather use the IIJA money to fund boondoggles.

If the assertion that Trump's legal troubles are politically motivated is true, everybody taking part in the sham against the former president, is an accessory to an injustice. Some may not realize it, but they are.
As for the political origins of the prosecutions/persecutions, does anybody doubt that IF Trump was not running for president, none of these cases would have been brough forth?
Yes, Bob Boyd, the Truth Social cookies are appearing for me as well. That's why I sent cash money to Trump at Mar-a-Lago so he can take Melanoma to lunch, pay his legal bills, pay for more Lip Filler for Lara Trump, or whatever else he might fancy. I hope this works!
William50- If the Presidential election goes to the House, it does not vote by majority. Each state gets 1 vote, determined by majority vote of each delegation. At present, Rs have 26 states, none of them that I can see are 1 vote majorities except for the states that have only 1 (R) rep (Dakotas, WY, Alaska, VT). I'm pretty sure this is moot, as the choice will be made by the congress elected in Nov. I'm reasonably certain of all of this but open to correction.
What is the deal with all these come-ons for seeing women TV and Movie stars from the 70s-90s: "you won't believe how they look now?" If I pause to look in the mirror at myself (as opposed to just the part of my face I'm shaving), yeah, old age happens. And if women who kept themselves unnaturally slim for the cameras have reverted to normal middle age bodies, gee whiz! But every mainstream media site from the NYPost to CNN has them. Old Age Porn?
William50 said... Each State gets one vote. All that is needed to win is 26 votes. The coming resignations of Republican house members would put the Democrats in the majority.
are you sure you did your math right? i haven't done the math at all, so i'm just asking.. BUT if it comes down to that.. each state vote is picked by that state's reps.. So, Illinois (for example) would vote dem, 'cause there's 14 Illinois dem reps and only 3 illinois rep reps
after these coming resignations, will there be 26 states with more dem reps than rep reps? [there are currently only 22 states with more dem reps than rep reps] Also, which session votes? the current one? or the new one?
Mostly, i'm just enjoying typing the phrase: rep reps :)
The cat that lives with us has developed the habit of jumping up on the counter and meowing, which, we have learned, means that she wants the water turned on, in a thin, drizzly stream, which she will then lap at. This requires her to put her front feet in the sink, and contort herself to get her mouth into position, but she will do that for a minute or more. I guess she is thirsty, although in western Oregon in March, water is not hard to find.
But tonight, having made the usual arrangement, she seemed to tire of the whole procedure. Life fills us with wants. We pursue them, and with luck, we obtain that which we have so fervently sought. But it really isn't enough. The strength of the desire, is no indicator of the strength of the resulting satisfaction. She lapped a little water, then began to consider the drop to the floor. It's a ways. Maybe three feet? But you jump down, and you know that you are going to land on the tile floor, and you anticipate. The shock through your bones, not actually painful, but you know, the pain will be along in a moment. Not an unbearable pain, or even a terrible pain. It's just another of the thousand natural shocks. But shit, how long does this movie last? When is this going to be over?
I'm still spending time teasing ChatGPT. I'd read that AI was far more intelligent than human beings and would soon be running the show with all its good advice. So I asked it questions to see what kind of good advice we would have gotten in the past if we had had AI. I asked it whether it would have supported Copernicus and Galileo and it would not. It explained that neither one conformed to the majority patterns. Then I asked Chat whether it would have advised Ferdinand and Isabella to finance Columbus and Chat said it would have BUT when I asked Chat whether it would have advised the other sovereigns Columbus applied to, such as Portugal, Chat said it would not have so advised them. All the other countries that turned Columbus down missed an opportunity and we now know they would have missed that opportunity even if AI had been around to help out their tiny human brains. AI seems just to gather the same information we have and to interpret it the most conventional way, only AI is faster at gathering the info and better at quickly writing up the report. I asked Chat whether we could expect expensive, damaging battery failures in EV cars in northern states in winter if there were not enough charging stations. It said charging would take longer and last for a shorter period of time but that we should not anticipate expensive, damaging battery failures. (Of course Chats information base stops at September 2021.) Chat is a great tool. It's is the finest help desk on the planet and I use it that way frequently. But it isn't going to be a a replacement for human thinking.(It would not have recommended financing Wilbur and Orville Wright.)
I worked for 35 years a mile south from the Key bridge. It was a looming landmark on the horizon. Most of our product was shipped south to Norfolk or west to Long Beach, but most of our chemical raw materials passed over the Key. There are two alternative routes on the east side of Baltimore, both tunnels, limited in the cargo allowed, and traffic nightmares even before Key fell.

Was happening to me all day yesterday. Don't know why.
Eggs, Milk, seafood items and gas have gone down in price?? WHERE?? The black, immigrant, lesbian who Joe Biden hired to lie us, just hung up on a Radio show after spouting those lies. They obviously live on another planet.
One of my concerns about the Democrats being the majority in the House is that if Trump were to win they would refuse to certify the election. What happens then?
@Big Mike: Even more concerning was the information that the way the bridge was designed, if part of it went then the whole bridge would necessarily fail. Worse, there are a lot of bridges designed on the same non-redundant principles. Scary.
Bridges are expensive. Very expensive. Redundant safety bridges are super super expensive. The Brooklyn Bridge had all sorts of cost overruns because of Victorian era strength anxiety, and the "overbuilding" thereby was great for future heavy cars. Every bridge tries to be strong enough for its purpose, but just strong enough. The later "galloping" Tacoma Narrows bridge was so light that it flexed and blew down from wind resonances alone.
There are many bridge builder engineering simulators ("games") online. They do a great job of illustrating the costs vs. risks of a given design, and show how one weakness often leads to a total collapse. They also let you run a simulated load over your bridge and see how it can fail (e.g., okay with cars but not trucks, etc.).
West TX, your analysis aligns with mine. Speculation at this point is substantially moot because it will be the Congress elected in November that would vote on the matter, not the one that finishes out this term. Resignations will only have an impact to the degree that they affect the chance of a particular district electing a Republican or Democrat.

Since RFK almost certainly won't win any electoral votes, the likelihood of a 269-269 tie seems about as remote with him in the race as without him.
