Comes a time…
I'm done with Niel Young.
Neil Young who?
"Neil Young says he's returning to Spotify , 2 years after exit over Joe Rogan."
Did Neil have a change of heart? Matured and has more acceptance? Decided free speech is actually a right for everyone? Or is he just fighting for relevance and profits?
From the article: But he said it’s because Apple and Amazon have also become fonts of disinformation.
OK so relevance and profits it is! Not that [in and of its self] there is anything wrong with that as a motivation but it is a bit hypocritical. Also Neil is still a "science" denier and continues to blame Joe for vax-misinformation but [sorry, not sorry Neil] Rogen was RIGHT...
Now that Trump has clinched the nomination, when do they release the next COVID virus on the world?
Neil Young better keep his head
He shouldn't forget what he once said
Because others said it would come to pass
That his silly boycott wasn't meant to last
Now his credibility is burning fast
Neil not-so-young-man
Neil Young, the hypocrites dread
He shouldn't forget what he once said
Neil Young and Stephen Stills were awesome in Buffalo Springfield.
Now, Neil Young is just a liberal, sellout, modern day totalitarian. "Apple and Alexa are pushing the same misinformation"...blah, blah, blah... Was the hippie movement a complete fake?
But, the Oscar for biggest liberal Rock-n-Roll prick goes to Bruce Springsteen. No contest.
Millions of illegal entrants. Millions.

It's not nuts, it's a business.
How many of the old rockers can really say no to the money, no matter how rich they already are? I've enjoyed a lot of Leland Sklar videos (bass player, mainly session and tour work), and all power to him and his buddies in the Immediate Family for keeping their chops up so well. Lee toured with Phil Collins, including the times when Phil sat in a chair to sing. He's now touring with Lyle Lovett, who has never been a big star. Lee said at one point: with Phil it was the best of everything, a caterer seeing to individual food requests. With Lyle it's more of a craft or service table, maybe sandwiches and a nice soup. Air travel as opposed to bus travel.
Surely some of the geriatric crews should quit touring.
I found a list from 2014 where Neil was listed as one who had not sold out. Dylan among others has refused the use of his music for commercials, but now I gather he has done some. Steven Tyler did a weird SuperBowl commercial for the Kia Stinger. He's a hot driver on a race track, more or less alone. He's had work done on his face. Then he's out of the car: does he now look a lot younger?--and his adoring fans want autographs. "Feel Something Again." When was the last time, Steve? Of course the music is "Dream On." A bit creepy.
He is right. Slow Joe Biden is physically and mentally unable to do the job, so it falls to others to run it by committee. Biden was so focused on his "historic" nominations that selecting people actually capable of doing their jobs was secondary.
Now, we just have to hope we can get through this year without things completely falling apart. IMO, the odds aren't good.
LOL at the Neil Young quote. That's perfect.
Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, Tucker Carlson, Tulsi Gabbard vs. Joe Biden, Mark Cuban, George Snuffleupagus, Kamala Harris, and every batshit crazy woman in education and on MSNBC.
You couldn't get a better cast to imitate the characters in Atlas Shrugged.
Liberals roll their eyes at Ayn Rand's magnus opus, but damn...when it came to illustrating the producers (good) vs. influence peddlers (evil)...she was right on. We're living it.
Time For The Beavers To Rule…
TFTBTR.
Rematch.
But the part quoting Neil Young made me smile because I just ordered the album Harvest (Amazon offered it for $24 when I was ordering some household necessities, so I bit). I don't want to use a service like Spotify where the provider can withdraw access to music or restore it as in this case at will. I prefer physical media that I own and can listen to or watch when I damn well feel like it.
Jeebus Todd you set a new world record for duplica-posting!
The Hur report is damning and Adam Schiff makes a complete ass out of himself. A twofer. We've all known that Biden wasn't up to the job even before he took office. We've been lied to for the past three and a half years. But some of us knew that already.
It is always fascinating to see how people have different reasoning that leads them to a similar decision you may have. I understand Rogan's reasoning that voting for Biden is not making Biden a leader but his cabinet, but I discount that in my reasoning, because such isn't inherently a bad idea. Some might say a good leader is a person that puts good people in key positions and lets them do what they do best.
Rogan also makes the point that Biden's cabinet is bad, and that gets closer to my reasoning. Left unsaid is why exactly is it bad? Well, look at the criteria for selecting people for cabinet roles. Is it a history of experience in the role? No. It is based on DEI criteria. Pete Buttigieg is gay and was a small town Mayor, so he's the perfect choice to run Department of Transportation. Kamala Harris is the first black female Vice President, so she can handle a special task of securing our borders and fixing immigration. Xavier Becerra is Latino and as a former California AG has the perfect background for being the Secretary of Health and Human Services during a major pandemic.
Still, it is not like Trump did much better with his cabinet. Nor did Trump show much capability to control those under him, except by being a louder voice. However, that louder voice is one thing that Biden certainly doesn't have, which I think is part of Rogan's initial point that Biden isn't there.
I'll vote for Trump, because unlike any other politician at the national level; I've seen him tackle the top issues that voters claim to be concerned and offer solutions. Here is Gallup poll of Most Important Problems facing Americans. Ukraine would fall under "Foreign Policy" which ranks second to last just ahead of last place "Healthcare". Yet what is Biden's top concerns right now? Immigration tops the list and that is Trump's top concern. Agree or not with Trump, but at least the issue will be discussed at the national level over concerns about Ukraine, or Hamas, or Haiti...

Well I hope there was groveling by Young to get back on the platform. If Spotify didn’t bitch slap him with a renegotiation that’s on them…
Hey, Neil's yacht payments aren't going to make themselves!
I don't want to use a service like Spotify where the provider can withdraw access to music or restore it as in this case at will. I prefer physical media that I own and can listen to or watch when I damn well feel like it.
I requested Apple Music refund me for BLM day or week, whatever it was. I was on a trip and looking forward to the playlists I had made. Quite professionally they told me to eff off. So I did….
I think the best thing that could happen for america is if one or both candidates died before the election.
didn't he VOW, to go to canada if trump won 2016?
i'm thinking that canada would HAVE to let him in?
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
Spotify don't need him around, anyhow
In DC, they love the Bidens (boo, boo, boo!)
Now we all did what we could do
Now Russia-gate does not bother me, uh-uh
Does your conscience bother you?

"didn't he VOW, to go to canada if trump won 2016?
i'm thinking that canada would HAVE to let him in?"
I think he has dual citizenship and live in Canada anyway, at least some of the time.
"Well I hope there was groveling by Young to get back on the platform."
They need him more than he needs them. But, he does need them to keep his music out there. At this point, the boomer rockers want to remain relevant to convince themselves their music will outlive them.
"But, the Oscar for biggest liberal Rock-n-Roll prick goes to Bruce Springsteen. No contest."
I don't really get why Bruce is so annoying to some people. He's a standard issue liberal rocker. I don't really get his Obama worship, and I actually like Obama. But, really what has he done that's any more bothersome than what other rockers have done? Is it because he is so far from his working class roots that it became silly for him to present himself as a spokesman for those folks?

RFK Jr clearly doesn’t intend to keep playing deep into the postseason so honestly Rodgers is a perfect pick.
Ha ha ha, ha ha. (Wipes away tears). Just another sellout for the dollars. Sad.
Well, I heard Mr. Young sing about her
Well, I heard ol' Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around, anyhow.
Wow, I didn't miss Neil young one bit. But if you did, hope you're happy.
Good that Rogan endorsed Trump. Even some stoned MJ users manage to vote.
I agree with Kay at 9:17, and add Neil Young as lagniappe.
Always thought Young was overrated.
You can get back at Neil Young by boycotting Lionel Trains.
Joe Rogan is a genius in using his mind and his emotions to communicate in the world of crazies.
"Please, try not to do that!"
In defense of whoever it was, you do realize blogger makes it impossible to know if thr spectacular crash message comes before, or after, your comment goes into the moderation queue, right?
Just think of the annoyance as your tiny, incremental payment towards Google's technical debt of years and years of benign neglect of blogger. (Feel free to ignore the related question of whether, after enough years, the assumption of "benign" is no longer valid.)
@Kay, I’m concerned that one or both candidates will die before the election. I view the over-the-top charges that Donald Trump will be an authoritarian dictator as a pretty open appeal for another hardcore left-winger of the James Hodgkinson stripe to have a go at assassinating Trump. Gawd alone knows what wold happen in that case, but it won’t be pretty — in the worst case scenario being a journalist or even a registered Democrat would be one of the most dangerous things a human could be. As for Joe Biden, suppose he passes away peacefully in his sleep. How many nanoseconds would pass before rumors started zipping around the Internet that there was a puncture wound on his neck where someone gave him a fatal injection? Contradicted by rumors that there were no injection marks but there was a pillow on the floor and petechia on his face? Not that either rumor would necessarily be true, but …. Could you predict the result? Me either.
So, no Kay. Either or both candidates dying before the election would absolutely not be at all an ideal scenario.
Have to agree with Big Mike. The only people hoping "one or both candidates will die" are the same ones hoping Biden and Harris will both drop out and allow someone else to run against Trump, or that Trump dies. Having a democratic choice is something that a few people don't want to happen, and that is not the best result.
Neil coming back to Spotify isn't the most hypocritical part. The most hypocritical part is a hippie like Neil Young trying to use his commercial clout to ruin an up and coming guy's career and to silence someone he disagreed with in the first place.
He ought to admit he was wrong and that he was dupped by the powers that be, but he doesn't have the open mind nor the character for that. He became establishment. Disappointing all the way around. And I say that as a fan. Musically, Neil Young is a genius. The music and the lyrics of songs like Powder Finger and Thrasher? Brilliant.
@Big Mike
Sorry, but I’ve thought about this a lot, and nothing you’ve written is convincing enough for me to believe that the death of either or both candidates wouldn’t be the best thing that could happen for this country.

Please, try not to do that!<
Do you have any suggestions on how to try not to do that, given that it is a Blogger phenomenon that happens to commenters? (Perhaps you are not aware of that.)
Blogger gives that "Whoops, that didn't work; try again" error message and so you duly try again, sometimes repeatedly until you see your message posting properly. That usually results in multiple postings of the same message, though sometimes it gives only the single posting that was your intention - go figure. You don't know which it will be until after that batch of messages are moderated and posted by you (AA). It happens to me a least once a week. Myself, I delete the dupes.
Maybe there is some arcane method of thwarting *Blogger's* multiple posting of one's single message, If so, I would like to know it.
"Blogger gives that "Whoops, that didn't work; try again" error message and so you duly try again, sometimes repeatedly until you see your message posting properly...."
I think the "whoops" page tells you to refresh, not to go back and "try again." So stay on that page where you are — the "whoops" page — and hit refresh, and wait for it and it should go through. If not, refresh again. Don't start a new compose window and don't go back to the compose window and hit publish again.
I understand the problem and will delete these double posts when I see them, but it's inefficient for me, so I would appreciate your help.
Yeah, in fact, I just got the whoops page when I tried to publish my comment about the whoops page, so I was able to copy the text you get. It's:
Whoops, that's an error.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Try refreshing the page to see if things are back in order.
See? It doesn't say "try again." It says "Try refreshing."
It may be my imagination but I think slowly clicking publish is a solution. I think I tend to get the whoops response when I do a sharp short click on the publish button.

Yes Mrs. Loopner.
@Althouse, and in response to the request to refresh I hit the refresh icon (the circular arrow, for those who don’t know) and usually Blogger asks me to hit the “Submit” again. But sometimes it asks me to hit “Submit” multiple times. And sometimes when I hit “Submit” multiple times I get multiple posts, but often enough I get only a single post from multiple times hitting “Submit.” I try to clean up my own multiple posts, but it may not be for hours.
I don't hear him endorse Trump just saying he would vote for Trump before he would vote for Biden. He could have some real influence if he would endorse Kennedy.
@Big Mike
Use your browser's refresh — probably a circular arrow — and wait to see if it goes through. Don't hit it repeatedly. Hit it again if you get a new "whoops" message.
I don't know what the "submit" button is.

Refresh is what I meant by "try again;" I couldn't recall exactly Blogger's wording when I wrote that. But it's the same thing. Hitting "refresh" is exactly what I do. It wouldn't have occurred to me to start a new composition. Regardless, it's nice to know I'm not alone. Unfortunately, I think that you can give up hope of not seeing multiple same posts on your blog.
"the only people 'hoping one or both candidates die' are the same ones hoping that B&H drop out and allow someone else to run against Trump, or that Trump dies."
Where do you take your mind-reading lessons?
Personally, I'd like to see several hundred deaths among our political elites, and soon.
Ann should add a Submit! Button.
There are a number of artists I love despite their politics being stupid. For example, I have read 90% of Don Winslow's books (he's fantastic) even though poltically he's retarded.
For Neil Young, his performance of Rocking in The Free World on SNL in 1992 was one of the great moments of the 20th century. https://vimeo.com/261974485
Also I love to play I Believe in You for my grandchildren!
Neil rocks even though politically he's an idiot.
Conan discussing the SNL performance with NL - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hctVTiG5y6c
I get to nod my head to Joe Rogan and find someone dropping a Leland Sklar reference. It's a good morning. I have a lot of bass player friends who all think Leland is on another plane of being as a player. He plays bass like Max Verstappen finds the apex of a corner.
Every time. In exactly the right place.
@Althouse, after I hit refresh — and I already know to only hit it once — Blogger asks if I want to Submit the comment I was trying to post. There a a large oval shaped button labeled “Submit” and that is the icon I click on. I see this when I am using my iPhone to comment.
I only click the refresh. It can take a few hits, but I learned to only click "Publish" once.
What is new is that I now get errors just clicking to read the comments, whether I submitted anything or not. I suppose Google's desire to gather/garner information from my browser history isn't working and throwing an error.
"I think the best thing that could happen for america is if one or both candidates died before the election."
I think the best thing that could happen for America is if Kay died before the election.
Just trying to match the sickness in your comment.
I also find that reloading the entire page gets rid of -- most of the time -- that Whoops that's an error page from Blogger.
MadMan @ 2:51pm
The issue isn't clearing the error message, it's knowing whether or not your comment went through.
Southern man don't need him 'round anymore.
But bless his heart.
What does Neil Young say when he returns to Spotify?
"Whoops".
