I live close to the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site in West Branch, Iowa. The Park has about 40 acres of natural reclaimed prairie. The park service does a controlled burn each spring. They are very careful when they do it. There are groomed trails where you can walk in the prairie. And they have guides who can tell you about all the native grasses and native prairie plants. It's a great place to spend an hour or two, if you happen to be on Interstate 80 at mile marker 254 in Iowa.
Schmuck Schumer wants to be proconsul for Israel and Palestine. NPR led with his pronouncements all afternoon, along with the doings of Historic First. I propose that nickname for Kamalalala--like the name Egyptians are said to have bestowed on Mubarak when he was vice-dictator under Sadat: "Was also there." All the news stories about Sadat's appearances ended with "Mubarak was also there."
If true, say hello to Speaker Hakeem Jeffries and goodbye to the committee leaderships and House investigations. That would also put him charge of the election certification next January.

Harmeet K. Dhillon @pnjaban An illegal alien totaled my car in 2007 while making an illegal left turn into oncoming traffic. He fled the scene. After he was apprehended a few blocks away, SFPD was reluctant to arrest him because … he was illegal. I insisted, and they gave him a ticket. He disappeared. I was left with a destroyed vehicle, back and neck pain, and months of physical therapy and time out of work. This is all BEFORE California became a sanctuary state.
The current open border situation has brought this lawless horror show to the whole country, courtesy of Joe Biden and his merry band of Marxist supporters.
Americans have to decide if we want this anarchy and lawlessness to be our new way of life, or not? The choice is very clear! 8:43 AM · Mar 14, 2024

Yep. The Rinos ARE handing it to the Progressives. Are you really surprised? They hate us that much that they would rather the country burn...and you wonder why we stand with Trump??
Schumer may have many flaws but misreading politics is not one of them. That's what's really interesting.
Netanyahu is keeping the war going because it makes him a "war president" who can do no wrong. Once the shelling stops, he must face indictments on charges of breach of trust, bribery, and fraud. Rather like Trump running for office in hopes that he can eliminate the many felonies against him.
I worked at Boeing for 40 years. CNN's story about Boeing is 100% correct. Phil Cond(u)it screwed the pouch with his merger deal with McDonald Douglas. The executives in St. Louis who screwed McD were rewarded huge stock positions after the merger and ended up controlling the company. They did to Boeing what they did to McD. The result is today's Boeing going down the crapper.
Gospace. A twofer! Congratulations! Babies are the best.

Another open thread, another heap of bald-faced lies from 'tim in Vermont' (9:25am):
His first paragraph is italicized, as if it were a quotation, but he provides no link. It is not in the paper linked at the end, and when I DuckDuckGo "Biletsky's main backer, the mafioso Avakov", I get "No results found". When I go to the very detailed Wikipedia article on Arsen Avakov, I find no events between February 27 and April 7, 2014.
Were there ever 100,000 anti-Maidan protesters in Kharkiv? Wikipedia says the organizers claimed 70,000, but observers said it was 40,000, and that some were paid to be there, others were government employees ordered to be there.
Something that did happen ten years ago today: "10 years ago, on March 15, 2014, the body of Crimean Tatar activist Reshat Ametov, murdered by the occupiers, was found in Crimea — he became the first victim of Russia's occupation of Crimea. / On March 3, 2014, the activist held a single picket in the central square of Simferopol to protest against the occupation and was detained by the so-called 'Crimean self-defence' in the presence of Russian military personnel. / On March 15, 2014, the body of the murdered Reshat Ametov was found in [a village in] Crimea. The body had signs of numerous torture, his head was tied with tape, his eyes were gouged out, and handcuffs were lying next to the body. / The death of Reshat Ametov is a crime against humanity and a war crime. However, the criminals have not yet been punished, as the 'investigation' is allegedly being conducted by the occupation administrations. Ukrainian police have no access to the case file and the crime scene." (link)
And something that happened today: a "double tap" missile attack on Odesa that killed 16, including a doctor and an ambulance worker. Russia attacks civilian areas every night and some days, and 'tim in vermont' doesn't mind at all. The only civilian targets that have been hit in Russia have been hit by mis-aimed Russian bombs and antiaircraft missiles.
As for the link at the end, 'tim in vermont' has linked it before, and I have pointed out before that it is not a peer-reviewed scholarly article, that anyone can upload anything they want to SSRN to make it look like one, and that Ivan Katchanovski is a pro-Russian crank who can't get his arguments into peer-reviewed journals because they won't pass muster.
Finally, I note that if 'tim in vermont' had watched the 9 1/2-minute video I linked in the previous open thread, he would know that the puppet governor of Zaporizhzhia province says that Yanukovych "should have worked with Russia more decisively" and should have shot himself rather than running away. He seems to be disappointed that Yanukovych didn't kill enough protesters.

Haiti could get ugly fast.
The Biden administration has no plans to help stranded Americans.
Of course, they will be happy to help tens of thousands of 70-80 IQ Haitians get to the U.S.
What is the deal on X with women in cars doing videos complaining about their jobs/lives?
For whatever reason, they are invariably hot as hell.
What gives?

Earlier this evening my daughter became the mother of twin girls, plucked out a few weeks earlier then planned. Mother and daughters are doing well.
Controlled burn.
Don't think Begley was at The Garden rushing the court tonight.
@Gospace, congratulations! I'm due to become the grandfather of twin girls next month or in early May myself.
Original Mike. Hot Damn! That's impressive.
The air quality was the pits here before sunrise this morning.
There was some kind of burning going here too I believe.
Congratulations, Gospace and family!
Who's controlling it? Psychics?
@gospace— it’s a miracle every time it happens. May all be well with your family. The ides of March!
Congratulations, Gospace on twin granddaughter launch.
Congratulations Gospace!
---Ken Buck Teases He Never Meant it About Serving His 2-Year Term in Office
Profiles in courage. Those dummies who voted for him should never have thought he'd serve out his term as their Representative. Too grueling.
Congratulations Godspace!

The Friars are a top 20 team defensive team and it shows. PC probably gets a bid and that means more NCAA money for all BE teams.
My Jays fought back. Something like 10 lead changes.
But it would have been great to play CT in the finals.

Now you know where the grift is coming from.
I am a pro-gun woman who has never had a gun. I am now seriously planning on getting one, and getting training to protect my family.
Obviously, as todays ruling about Fani, there is NO SUCH THING as law and order anymore. The laws are not protecting us. We must protect ourselves.
Progressivism really is regressivism, and progressives sure are proud of the divisiveness.
This is NOT going to end well at all. Not with a blatant two tiered justice system.
Lots of twin girls being born around here. Congrats!
