It was weird. Why risk it when they were going to write something fawning and/or ignore the story and move on? They are concerned about really bad poll numbers for some reason is all I can think...

Reassuringly, just think about how many fewer minutes Biden has to decide whether to launch the nukes “in a breathless and disheveled state.”
For years, the press has seen the same thing as the rest of the nation when it comes to Biden's physical and mental state. They mocked anyone who questioned Biden's health or abilities. But, "It's just a stutter" they insisted.
Now we are supposed to believe they suddenly see the President's deficiencies? Bull! They have now been given their marching orders and told it is okay to acknowledge what the rest of us have known all along. Biden's dementia was obvious when he was "campaigning" from his basement years ago and it has only gotten worse. His wife knew it, his staff knew it, and the media knew it.
The GOP should not assist the Democrats in removing Biden as President or as the candidate for 2024. This is the Democrats problem. Let them deal with it.

Imho, they did a good job this time, based on the questions asked. Despite the outcome for them, the WH not assigning questions to certain journalists was a good thing. No time to prepare for that anyway.

Uh-oh. The White House made the mistake of letting in the UK press to Biden's Captain Queeg monologue. Unlike our press, there even the leftist journalists are at least semi-intelligent and feel compelled to say the obvious.
LOL! Nice try, but this wasn't really a last minute press conference where the reporters came in with no preparation at all. Watch it from the beginning- it was clearly scripted right from the start, but Biden fucked it up anyway because he is (1) as dumb as dogshit, and (2) increasingly demented. That gaffe at the end wasn't the only evidence of Biden's descent into senility, but it was the one thing in the press conference that the media cocksuckers like David Smith couldn't spin away- even our college population of today know that Mexico isn't in the Middle Eash (well, at least a majority of them know that). What you are seeing with this story is David Smith deciding he has swallowed enough Biden semen for the time being.

Nothing surprising here except The Guardian discovering the obvious after four years of staring it in the face. (However, I did learn a new word, chyron) To David Smith and all the other media myrmidons who have been tooting their horns for Biden even more raucously than he toots his own, the question is what now? Their chatter will be how do we win with Biden? They realize their plans for more voter fraud won't work. No honest person will believe another 81 million votes. They will conclude a few last-minute replacements are the only means remaining to the Deep State junta.
One will be the replacement of Biden's running mate. If someone plausibly competent could replace Kamala Harris, then many Democratic voters who are now shocked and demoralized by how easily they were played like rustics in the big city four years ago, might cast a vote with the assurance a re-elected Resident Joe could be constitutionally removed in favor of Vice-President I.M. Notkamala.

In opposition to the general perception around here, I think that the primary person making the larger decisions in the Biden White House is Joe Biden, not some mysterious handlers.
Yes he gives in generally to their direction but he makes the calls and he called the press conference because his confidence in his own abilities is unconditional.
The snap press conference allowed him to tell his side, replete with blatant lies, before the press had an opportunity to prepare. I am sure that he believes that he did a great job.
