serious question..
a LOT of you have older relatives.. Heck; a Lot of you ARE Older relatives..
i'm sure you've noticed; as relatives become old.. That ANGER and SPITEFULNESS show up, for no reason?

I certainly noticed this with my grandmother. She was Always the sweetest lady.. Until she got senile,
at which point she would (occasionally) suddenly become THE BIGGEST BITCH.. Swearing and cursing..
Then, a few minutes later.. It'd be like NOTHING HAD HAPPENED.
Have y'all experienced this?

Imagine IF.. Your older relative had: The Launch Codes for the US Missile Forces?
Does that SCARE you? It's SHOULD! Has General Milli Vanilli called the Chinese, and told them:
"Don't Worry! We won't let resident Biden have access to the real codes. We Know he's as senile are you do"

Tried to read the filing by Trump's lawyers, but found it seriously lacking. The arguments remain just as weak and unconvincing as they were before the Appeals Court panel. Also, the Supreme Court denied the Special Counsel's request to bypass the Appeals Court because they wanted to see what the Appeals Court would find. Well, now they have it.

The Supreme Court should rule unanimously and quickly that ex-Presidents are not immune from prosecution. No one is above the law, and there is no argument that ex-presidents will be distracted from public service in defending prosecution.

In fact, the Supreme Court may simply refuse to hear the case, as the appeals court decision is the correct one, thereby effectively answering the question.

Tomorrow is Fat Tuesday. If anyone has a Polish Bakery, or perhaps a Doughnut shop near them they might sell Pacskis (pronounced Poonch-key singular). It is Polish Doughnut that is typically filled with fruit filling, cream, or both. It is usually only available on the last day before Lent. Might be worth it to pick up one or a few.

Shooter at Houston megachurch had lengthy criminal history including weapons charges, police say

"A woman who walked into a popular Texas megachurch Sunday afternoon with a long gun and her 7-year-old son opened fire before she was killed by law enforcement officers on scene. The gunfire left the child in critical condition and another man injured, officials said.

Authorities are now probing the shooting at televangelist and pastor Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church – roughly 6 miles from downtown Houston.

The woman, identified in a search warrant as Genesse Ivonne Moreno, 36, entered the church shortly before 2 p.m. wearing a trench coat and backpack and opened fire, Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said in a Sunday afternoon news conference.

Officers “shot and killed her in self-defense” after she pointed her weapon at them, according to the search warrant released Monday by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.

Her son was shot in the head during the shooting and remains in the hospital Monday in critical condition, the police chief said. It’s unclear who fired the shot that injured the child. CNN has reached out to police for more information.

...

The shooting is just the latest instance of gun violence disrupting American life at places once considered safe. This one was at a place of worship. Others have been at schools, grocery stores, outlet malls, hospitals, college campuses and house parties.
"

A similar situation happened in 2007 at New Life Church in Colorado:
Why the woman who stopped a 2007 church shooting rejects 'good guy with a gun' title

"Updated: 10:20 PM MST November 6, 2017
Ten years ago, a woman in Colorado Springs was called a hero after a shooting at the New Life Church.

A gunman opened fire in the church's parking lot and two teenage sisters were killed.

Jeanne Asssam was there on Dec. 9, 2007 to stop the gunman from taking any more lives once he entered the church.

Those 3 minutes will never leave her.

"I stepped out and I said 'police officer; drop your weapon' and he turns around and pulls his AR-15 on me, and before he could pull the trigger I fired the first five rounds very rapidly and knocked him back completely on his back,” Asssam said, describing that day in 2007.

Assam is a former police officer. She was volunteering as a security guard at the New Life Church that day.

“She was the hero, she was certainly a hero of our church, no doubt about it,” said New Life Pastor Brady Boyd.

Gun rights activists portrayed her as an example of why people should carry concealed weapons, but Assam says there’s a difference between carrying a gun and knowing how to use it in an active shooter scenario.

"I believe in the Second Amendment, but I also believe in putting trained people in place because just like with the Walmart situation, there were some people that were armed in there but they didn't know what to do,” she said.

Fun fact of the day:

Ethiopia just became the first country to ban internal combustion engine powered vehicles. Effective forthwith only EV’s can be imported into the country.

Collateral Fun Fact:

Ethiopia has a per capita GDP of $2,300. Inflation is currently running at 26.8% per year.

What could go wrong?

Unemployment rate is record low yet corporate earnings mentions of layoffs are record high. - Zero Hedge

Don't worry, Joe Biden's people aren't cooking the numbers. After the Politico article about the pressure Joe Puts in the Dept of Just Us to protect himself and prosecute Trump, one wonders what kind of pressure he puts on the Bureau of Labored Statistics to paint a fake picture of the economy?

Oh, and the last *strong* jobs report? Full time jobs dropped, and part time jobs jumped, this was people taking multiple jobs to pay the bills after losing their full time job.

But actually, he thought as he re-adjusted the Ministry of Plenty's figures, it was not even forgery. It was merely the substitution of one piece of nonsense for another. Most of the material that you were dealing with had no connection with anything in the real world, not even the kind of connection that is contained in a direct lie. Statistics were just as much a fantasy in their original version as in their rectified version. - 1984

"The Supreme Court should rule unanimously and quickly"

Whatever we do, the people must not be allowed to vote on their preferred candidate. He must be dragged before a DC jury and quickly convicted before we can let that happen. I am sure that the SCOTUS will be 100% on board in letting a local, highly partisan jury decide who can be president. It's almost like it's a loophole in the Constitution that lets a local partisan politician decide national issues. I am sure that nobody will be troubled by that precedent.

I bet that they won't even allow Trump to enter evidence that he offered 20,000 National Guard to protect the Capitol, which would have prevented the whole thing, and even if he is allowed to present exculpatory evidence, which I strongly doubt he will, the jury will simply ignore it. Which is precisely what Rich is hoping will happen.

Former Federal Prosecutor Shipwreckedcrew has LLR-democratical Idiot Rich's number:

"The claims that Trump's filing is "weak" comes out of the same playbook that claimed the Appeals Court decision was a legal masterpiece.

They both serve the same basis -- to complain if/when SCOTUS makes a decision that benefits Trump.

These hacks are predictable and transparent."

Wait, there's more from Shipwreckedcrew on X (hey, didn't business ignoramus Rich tell us X would be dead by now? LOL):

"Trump's motion for stay made to the Supreme Court goes into GREAT DETAIL in describing the extraordinary machinations engaged in by the lower courts to respond to the demands by SCO Smith for expedited procedures to rush this case to trial for no LEGALLY justifiable reason.

It is 100% factually accurate. The supposedly non-partisan participants in all these efforts should hang their heads in shame."

The only things missing are additional Andrew Weissman-like comments from fellow LLR-democratical leftists lonejustice and Ch***!

So Biden could order the execution of Trump and be immune?

That is what Trumps lawyers have argued. It is basically a legal argument to nullify the rule of law. It is entirely ridiculous that an adult has suggested this. It is unprofessional that a lawyer has argued this in a court of law.

Usually this type of nonsense is the angst of the ugly years of adolescence. Delay is his only hope to avoid a prison sentence and other punishments. His whole strategy is to delay until after the election, hoping he'll win and can then pardon himself.

If he's innocent he should let the cases proceed unhindered and allow himself to clear his name. The fact he's doing everything possible to derail/stop the cases only makes him look guilty.

One result of the Israel Hamas war should be an alteration to international law such that a country which uses its civilians and its civilian installations to shield its military installations commits a war crime. For example, it is a war crime to attack hospitals. Hamas placed its major command and control center below Gaza's major hospital thus using a civilian installation to shield its military. And Hamas placed its military intelligence and data center below Gaza's main refugee agency. And Hamas placed rocket installations in the courtyards of schools and mosques. It might be said that no other government in the world would have such a policy and spend millions and millions to arrange for its civilians to shield its military. Elsewhere, the military protects the civilians. But Hamas has its supporters and someday, perhaps, some of them might be governing in some other godforsaken area and they might think that using civilian installation as military shields was rather a clever sort of thing for a government to do since it led to a lot of legal trouble for Israel and to none for Hamas. The policy led to the sort of civilian suffering that war crime laws are meant to prevent but Gaza has the kind of government to whom that means exactly nothing. Point is, it's not illegal. And Hamas has its admirers in the UN and elsewhere just as Nazi theorists used to admire Southern segregation laws from afar.

Lakewood Church shooter identified, had history of mental health issues

"Authorities described Genesse Ivonne Moreno as a 'lone wolf' with a history of mental health issues.

At a press conference on Monday afternoon, Houston authorities and local officials outlined new details in Sunday's shooting at Lakewood Church.

Christopher Hassig, commander of the HPD homicide unit, described the shooter, 36-year-old Genesse Ivonne Moreno, as a "lone wolf" with a history of mental health issues who arrived at the church in a trench coat with multiple weapons prior to the commencement of a Spanish-language service.

Hassig told assembled media that prior to the shooting, Moreno, pulled her 7-year-old son out of her white vehicle parked on Timmons Lane and proceeded to confront a security guard outside the building at approximately 1:53 p.m. The guard let Genesse into the building, at which point she "immediately" began exchanging fire with HPD officer Christopher Moreno and TABC officer Adrian Herrera, according to Hassig. Genesse wielded an AR-15, the commander said, but a second weapon— a .22 caliber rifle—was found in a backpack on her person.

Officers continued to engage Genesse until she fell to the ground, Hassig said. Her child also fell to the ground after being shot in the head. Genesse was pronounced dead at 2:07 p.m. Authorities stated that the buttstock of the AR-15 she wielded featured a sticker of the word "Palestine." Previous reports incorrectly stated the long gun featured the words "Free Palestine." Hassig stated "antisemitic writings" have been discovered in subsequent investigations into Genesse. The commander said the shooter used male and female aliases in the past, but has identified as female "this entire time."

Hassig also stated the shooter had a history of mental health illness and was previously put under emergency detention orders by Houston police. Genesse appears to have legally purchased at least one of the guns used in the attack as recently as December. The commander stated the shooter may have been embroiled in a familial dispute with the family of an ex-husband.

"We do believe there was a familial dispute between her and her ex-husband's family, and some of those people are Jewish," Hassig said.

My husband and I were talking along these lines last night. Polls indicate that some significant percent of independents who at present say they'd vote for Trump say they'd change their minds if he were convicted of a crime. So - in keeping with the Democrat cargo-cult mentality - better convict him tout de suite!

Never for a moment thinking that the circumstances surrounding the conviction might affect how those independent voters interpret it. The conviction, that's the magic. Never mind if, say, black men are finding surprising common ground with the old guy.

From what I recall from Basic Training in the previous millennium, everything you describe is quite illegal under international law under the Geneva Conventions. Any human shield harmed by the actions of Hamas is the responsibility of Hamas. The yawning of the crickets in this particular situation is only further proof that the "oppressors" operate under totally different rules than the "oppressed." The pope has few divisions (and would be on Hamas' side in any case).

The IDF has resisted tremendous pressure from Biden and his co-conspirators (domestic and foreign) in pursuing their barbaric sworn enemies, a welcome change from the past 75 years.
Like the border situation, there is no need for new laws. There is need to enforce the existing laws, but there is no graft in that.
