Can you imagine how much worse his brain freezes and word elusiveness would be if he had to deal with an assertive press yelling questions at him like they did with Trump. He couldn't come close to handling a CNN Jim Acosta type.

Democrats are defending ALL of the dementia The whole party is defending this. How can a sentient person vote for a Democrat politician defending this?

Christ! have they never heard the fable of he King with no clothes? Must a 4 year old emerge to tip this cart over? To utter the truth?

SNL is in a Biden bind.

If they were to attach cognitive decline accurately to Biden the way they did clumsiness inaccurately to Ford, it’d be all over for Biden.

Our terrorists, like al Qaeda in Syria and Lebanon, oh, and ISIS, who, we learned from Wikileaks, we support, are the good terrorists. All patriotic Americans need a scorecard.

Oh yeah, and Ukraine's 1992 borders are sacrosanct, but those of Syria and Lebanon are mere suggestions. Update your scorecard accordingly. This is the kind of shit that Orwell saw, and prompted him to write 1984.

“Early in life I have noticed that no event is ever correctly reported in a newspaper, but in Spain, for the first time, I saw newspaper reports which did not bear any relation to the facts, not even the relationship which is implied in an ordinary lie. I saw great battles reported where there had been no fighting, and complete silence where hundreds of men had been killed. I saw troops who had fought bravely denounced as cowards and traitors, and others who had never seen a shot fired hailed as heroes of imaginary victories; and I saw newspapers in London retailing these lies and eager intellectuals building emotional superstructures over events that never happened. I saw, in fact, history being written not in terms of what happened but of what ought to have happened according to various “party lines.”
― George Orwell, Homage to Catalonia

7. Military academies. All of 'em, OK? Go to hell
8. Ice cream ("Rosebud")
9. I've been at this a long time
10. It's lonely losing your marbles. Scary as hell.

"seems"?

In the same way it "seems" the man is a doddering senile fool.

It doesn't matter. He will not be the Democrats nominee in another couple of months. They are propping him up, dragging him to the finish line. Which, in his case means probably sometime around May. The question is who will be the replacement?

I've seen a number of "Kamala is finding her groove" articles lately, though none of them could give any actual reason how or why they think she's found something she never had.

And Gavin...he just discovered that the City of Oakland has been overrun by criminals and that the progressive Mayor there is a complete dolt. Even worse than he is. Which means he can make a show of action by bringing in the National Guard to help police this city that defunded it's police under his watch as Governor. He thinks this highlights his strength. He is such a 'NO' for the rest of the country, but they still think his hair can outdo his incompetence and doltishness.

Dean Phillips is out there, but the Dems don't like him and pretty much arranged for him to get as many votes in the SC Primary as a bag of Doritos.

So...who they got? I do believe they have someone in mind, someone who can reclaim the Black voters- always willing to just go along and hope that their lives in their disintegrating cities will somehow get better with the same people running things. And the female vote- simply by shouting the word "abortion". Which seems to mean that women are a single issue voter like no other. The world may be spinning out of control, our borders wide open, fentanyl streaming at your kids, Europe and the Middle East exploding, China eyeballing Taiwan, and our government continuing to spend beyond the next 10 generations ability to pay it back, but....abortions!.

On the other hand, maybe Biden is the best they got? Good Lord, what have we become?

""seems"?"

I can't see his mind. Maybe he didn't want to say the word for some reason. What reason? I don't know... it gives them power... there's another term that he wants to substitute but he couldn't remember that term?

I try to write everything with an awareness of what I don't know.

Quaestor said...

Althouse writes, "Maybe he didn't want to say the word for some reason. What reason? I don't know... it gives them power..."

Yet he does when someone prompts him. If Biden chose not to voice the name for some sort of moral or psychological reason, the prompting was an opportunity to explain why he sought to avoid saying "HAMAS" and perhaps score a point for probity, but he didn't.

BTW, HAMAS is a transliterated acronym for Harakat al-Muqawama al-Islamiya which someone has translated as "Islamic Resistance Movement". Somehow, I doubt this is entirely accurate.

My favorite Bidenism is when in mid-sentence, he loses his train of thought, pauses, then utters the word "anyway" and moves on to a completely different subject.

I'm the same age as Biden. I can move with more fluidity than Biden, but after I run a few errands, I have to take a nap when I get home. My daily chores are a great deal less demanding than Presidential duties, but they weary me. Biden is definitely too old to be President. I'm not all that sure about Trump either.....FDR was pretty much out of it during his 4th term. He couldn't recognize cabinet members when talking to them. Nonetheless, it was Wendell Wilkie who died first. Wilkie had a massive coronary. Trump looks like the kind of guy who's eligible for such an event....How did it come to pass that in a nation of 342 million people (343 if you count yesterday's migrants) these two men are our choices....I think Trump is the better choice, but in the way I prefer a Big Mac to a Burger KIng.

Howard writes, "Tim in Vermont is getting all giddy..."

Howard has remained giddy from the beginning in his support of Biden's efforts to keep the American people entirely ignorant of the potential Third World War they are forced to finance.

If Carlson treats Putin like Walter Duranty and the New York Times treated Stalin, then Howard will have a high moral platform from which to complain. However, Howard's ad hominem attack on Tim in Vermont leads Quaestor to conclude Howard would not know a high moral platform if it fell on him.

(Duranty won a Pulitzer for his monumental lies and distortions regarding the nature of Stalin's dictatorship, particularly his lies of omission regarding the Holodomor. To date, the NYT has not repudiated Duranty's articles, nor has Columbia rescinded Duranty's Pulitzer.)

I think Biden actually meant what he said here. It seems that the Democrats view Republicans as the enemy, whereas Hamas, Putin, etc are merely the opposition.

Thank you for that reminder. I was a college freshman and more Democrat than Republican then but I can still picture the event as it was reported on TV. Goldwater was the only person whose name I remembered - didn't like him at all but the fact he did it caused me to temper my negative opinion of him over time.

Who would be the ones to do it now?

"opposing the United States and the Western Democracies."

What is a democracy when the voters are denied the information that they need to make an informed choice? It's a dictatorship with window dressing. It's authoritarian.

I would never have noticed any of this stuff until they started lying about me as a Trump supporter, and lying about Trump all the time, while calling him a liar while never actually proving it. They are using the same techniques against Trump that they use against Putin, the intelligence community has brought their techniques for manipulating populations home to the United States.

Its no coincidence that just a few years ago, Nancy Pelosi's Congress repealed rules against propagandizing the population of the United States that were put in place in the late '40s, after seeing what propaganda did in Europe. The excuse was that the restrictions were being "modernized," but really, they were being abolished. Now the Pentagon and the President are legally allowed to lie to us to further their foreign policy objectives. If this is the case, our votes are meaningless.

Funny how implying that I am a traitor relieves Howard of any obligation to refute what I said.

It's kind of an interesting point that the anti-propaganda Smith-Mundt Act was enacted in 1948, the same year 1984 was written. Now there are people talking about not teaching 1984 because it makes people "right wing," right around the same time Smith-Mundt was gutted in a Defense Authorization bill.

The funniest thing about "Western democracies" is how one after the other in the past two years has simply ignored the will of the voters and refused to allow the party that got the most votes to form a government. Spain, Poland, The Netherlands... In Germany, the government is moving to outlaw the most popular political party, because they won't align with the fascists in Ukraine. Look at the protests in German, Holland, Poland, and France, and tell me that the "democracies" there represent the will of the people.
