"We will let you know if there is any news made in that speech, if there is anything noteworthy, something substantive and important."

Said Rachel Maddow, quoted in "Rachel Maddow defends MSNBC's refusal to air Trump's Iowa victory speech: ‘Not out of spite’/Maddow claimed that not airing Trump's victory speech was 'not an easy decision'" (Fox News).

You can read that or — better — watch Russell Brand's presentation of Maddow's travesty of journalism:

The horse-race dimension of the primaries devours the perspective of national media reporters who are consumed with crowning the winner at first opportunity and sending all the other batters to the showers after the first inning. That this model (if not meme) is deeply flawed and apparently impervious to experience doesn't matter. Chatter ... chatter ... chatter …

A realistic strategy for any candidate to get the nomination where a prominent frontrunner is present in the early primaries (particularly a media—anointed one) is to plan for a long campaign by at least coming out of Super Tuesday as a viable candidate with credible delegate strength. Barack Obama would still be a senator if the national media crowning of Hillary Clinton had been prophetic. And how could that hapless hayseed Bill Clinton win reelection against droll and sagacious Bob Dole, master of the Senate? The Washington media loved Dole. What was the adjective? Fawning?

The goal is to get to the convention with delegates. Republican party topsiders may ensure —in particular if a jury has convicted Trump of felonies by then — that the rules are rigged to allow for an "open" convention due to the extraordinary circumstances and then the horse trading will begin as the Republican establishment coalesces around a poll-leading winner like Nikki Haley. Donald Trump should not worry about Democrats stealing the election from him but rather Republican insiders disqualifying him in the nominating process. The big money hasn't spoken yet.

The real contest in 2024 —if it develops — is which political party will get to a 50-something candidate first and walk off with a generational landslide in the offing. Nikki Haley seems to symbolize change — generational, ethnic, gender — more than any out there. With polls indicating she has the potential to beat Biden in November by 17 points (or other such exceptional margin), how can the big money forces and other forces that want to win the presidency because it shapes so many outcomes resist pulling the trap door on the aging Trump and going with the Spring Phenom? If this dynamic comes into play, the 2024 presidential election will be completely different from what the national media now envisages.

The polls say the American people don't want a rematch between Biden and Trump. The groundswell has not yet spoken. It is likely the American voting public is going to throw some upsets over the electoral plate before this is over.

And do the Democrats have any fireball relief pitchers out there in the bullpen? The aging starter is starting to flag. Is he really ready for four more years if he can't really handle 2024?

That was hilarious. Great video.

And Rachel Maddow was a Rhodes scholar. What the hell did she NOT learn at Oxford? Ideas and speech are evil?

I love his presentation—lively, fun, sufficiently insightful—except…all the dross makes it about 1/3 longer than it needs to be and I lack the patience and free time to sit through a whole episode.

That said, every time I see or hear Rachel Maddow’s name, I think of the time I read a rundown of left wing talking points and a deconstruction of why each of them was dishonest and then shortly after, and completely coincidentally, watched Rachel Maddow, and damned if she didn’t hit every single talking point I’d just seen deconstructed. It’s like she read the same article I did, but didn’t care and said it all anyway.

Makes perfect sense. Trump is like Lucy the very first time she pulled the football away while Charlie Brown tried to kick a touchdown.

Well...Russell Brand said it all at the end of the clip. "The problem is they've lost you. They've lost you forever. You cannot trust them. You don't trust them. You'll never trust them again."

MSNBC is a caricature of progressive thought and progressives doing the news. But more than that, they represent everything they accuse others of being or doing.

All around the Western nations- from Strasbourg to Brussels to Ottawa to Washington DC and all of their city capitals in between, those leftists running the nations and international organizations have taken on a censorship policy, wanting- demanding- to have the ability to stop thought or speech in the name of saving thought or speech. It's astonishing how they rationalize it to themselves, while presenting it to us, as Rachel Maddow demonstrates.

The Maoists in China just beat people over the head, put them in prison, or dismembered their families, sending them to various far reaches of the countryside to get their censorship State in place. In the Western world, they simply turn off the sound, or remove the image, disable the platform, or disallow the print. In the end, if they have to, they'll arrest you.

It's time for a massive house cleaning in Western nations.

wendybar said...

I can't wait to watch them melt down some more. I can't wait until their goons start burning down the cities again. I can't wait until ALL of these liars in the media get what they have to know is coming for traitors like them, who are the fascists they call everybody else. THEY did this to themselves, and watching them implode is glorious. I have run out of popcorn...again.

I should probably go watch the entire trump speech. But based on what I saw here it stems like I saw most of it, no?

He did mention vivek by name and very favorably. Am I reading too much into this?

Similar hysteria in the NYT when they fired their opinion editor for running an Op-Ed from a Republican Senator.

How dare you let the opposition speak!

Do you not know what an Op-Ed is, NYT?

The mainstream media is a narrow-minded one-party state. And it's getting narrower all the time. Even Bobby Kennedy isn't allowed in!

Tucker Carlson gave Rachel Maddow her first job, many years ago.

Would she do the same to a young Republican today?

Here's where I think Trump having only one term remaining actually helps him. Instead of entering office as a "lame duck," as conventional wisdom dictates, Trump will openly enter office as a transitional figure, one closer to the end of his life and more willing to risk it all, uniquely capable of resetting the change that a younger candidate with fewer gifts and greater risk-aversion would never be permitted by the establishment to accomplish before being vanquished.

As an aside Left Bank, looking forward to when Biden signs up for the debates later this year.

@LeftBank sez "Trump skipped the debates, so why broadcast his victory speech?"

Was this meant to be a coherent thought? 'George skipped breakfast, so why feed him dinner?' 'We watched the sparring match, so why see the prizefight?'

Why not tell us where you stand on Maddow's rather weak avoidance of admitting censorship of a political figure that she personally opposes with all of her being?

Thanks for clarifying.

Mad-cow is on the air because the leftwing Corporate Executives at NBC, and the company that owns NBC, want her there. They are the ones really censoring the news. Trust me, if they were against Mad-cow censoring Trump, she would've reversed course in a nanosecond.

Of course, does it really matter? To a certain extent Mad-cow's outrageous behavior is a good thing. It make it impossible to believe she's anything but a unpaid DNC operative and leftwing activist, and NOT a journalist. Her actions have destroyed MSNBC's credibility.

So, everyone with a brain should know your not getting "news" from MSNBC, you're getting leftwing/DNC Propaganda. The MSM is much more effective at helping the D's when they have a pretense of objectivity.

In no particular order we need to send the top 40 (or 400) elites to an abandoned military outpost in the aleutians with the clothes on their backs, blankets, basic fishing and hunting gear and a small library of "How to...) books, six months of Meals-Ready-to-Eat and a small fire with six months of fuel.

Naturally, the rest of us could watch these "leaders" create a brave new world of their own design.

With DEI in mind, I nominate:

Nancy Pelosi
Stacy Abrams
Al Sharpton
Hillary Clinton
John Kerry
Whoopie Goldberg
Al Gore
Rachelle Maddow
Chuck Schumer
Colin Kaepernic
Keith Olberman
Dr Faucci
Janet Yellen
Megan Rappinoe
Cher
King Charles
Dennis Rodman
AOC
Mitch McConnell
Current Chairman JCS
Former Chairman JCS

So many other Worthies! Be kinda like the Noah's Ark of humanity :-)

My brother and his wife explained to me she's the most intelligent, trustworthy news person on TV.

My favorite part of this censorship is the presumption that they KNOW without a shred of doubt that Trump's speech will consist of nothing but dangerous lies. Yet be so compelling as to make it mandatory to shelter the ears and minds(?) of the Maddow cult.

MSNBC is doing the right thing. They know their viewers and their viewers cannot handle Trump's words, his voice, his face. When dealing with certain mental illnesses, there are triggers, subjects that one avoids. TDS is such an illness. It would be cruel and irresponsible for MSNBC not to protect their viewers from their own psychological fragility.
