I choke when Biden claims he is the pro-democracy president. He uses the government to silence his critics and jail his opponents.

Greenwald assumes that abiding by the Constitution is part of what Dems mean by defending democracy.
Not so. Progs regard the Constitution as inherently undemocratic and racist, and an irritating obstacle to full prog rule. Limiting speech by government power is necessary to save "our democracy."
Democrats are subverting the Bill of Rights and not really hiding it, and we are supposed to believe a bunch of people taking selfies in the Capitol on Jan. 6th were the insurrection.

When any leftist says "Saving Democracy" - that is code for - creating a one-party police state.
This is referring to the “twitter files”, which could have been called the “X Files“, had investigator journalists Matt Taibbi and others applied the trans dispensation of declaring “twitter” as dead naming.
Maybe then the media would have shown some interest. Chinese spy balloon, Drones at war, UFO.

I like & support Glenn Greenwald's work on this subject, and the hard work of other independent journalists, but I don't like it when he resorts to exaggeration and hyperbole. That's why the Legacy Mainstream Media suffers from its own credibility crisis (well, that and all the outright lying).
NYT says "Whitehouse overstepped First Amendment....Fifth Circuit Panel partly upheld restrictions" and Greenwald says " Biden Admin. severely violated the 1st Am...yet corporate media basically ignored it.".
One of those reads as a more accurate description, and one of them doesn't. Why does Greenwald say the NYT was ignoring the story, and then shows a picture of the coverage in the NYT? He should do better, be more cold-bloodedly, bloody-minded and literal. I think that's how this game is won.
I watched a bit of the speech and read a bit more of the transcript. The GOP/Trump ads really write themselves. There are very factual concrete examples of the Biden administration doing exactly what he warns Trump will do, almost to a T and additional examples that go beyond Biden’s fearmongering. It’d never happen but a really nice point/counterpoint when we get deeper into the election would be very illustrative of our past 3 year reality with Biden and Trump’s own record showing the antithesis of just avout every scary talking point Biden and the DNC are trying to make stick.
Trump is a master of that sort of conversational picture painting. I hope some of the advisory folks in his orbit push him to analogize the comparisons in future rallies.

I love Glenn. its amazing how leftists, who out of principle, attack people like Biden with 10x more passion and effectiveness, than dumbo conservatives.
Biden and the Left hate Democracy and the opposition. But no matter what he/they do, you just can't get GOPe upset. WHen has Bush or McConnell/Ryan spoken out against Biden's abuse of power? Never.
Even Nikki Haley and DeSantis offer only muted criticism, along with the line that "we need to move on". No guts, no passsion. Accept the destruction of historical norms and liberties. I guess all that matters to them is helping Big Business and pleasing their big donors.

The NYT et al did not deem the revelations of the Twitter files newsworthy. Circumstances are forcing them to cover it now.
In a similar vein, they will be forced to report that Joe Biden received $40,000 of the $5,000,000 Hunter extorted from a Chinese company once Joe’s impeachment starts.
