Historically humans have always located heaven in the sky or in the clouds. That's what Hollywood does, and we've probably been doing it longer than that.
I think we do that because there is so much amazing beauty in the sky.
I saw these in Alaska as soon as I stepped off the plane, and pretty much the whole time I was there. I had never seen them before and had to google the phenomenon.

Light pillars are cool. Saw them a couple times in my years on the Front Range
Emergent colors in white dispersion fields. Pretty.
Never experienced. I imagine it is beautiful…
I have never seen that. Very cool.

The sky is the most obvious visible gateway to eternity.
Aurora, glory rings, sundogs, hole-punch clouds, noctilucent clouds, tornados, comets, meteors, eclipses, lightning, rainbows.
Obviously, the sky is full of gods. It would be irrational to think otherwise.

We don't have light pillars here in Florida. But we do have people who wrap themselves around light posts on any given day. At least it's warm.
