For most of the year, I thought that this would probably be the #1 song on my year-end countdown. Allo Darlin' is an indie pop band based in London, with Australian singer-songwriter Elizabeth Morris fronting things. The band's name came from Morris' time working in Soho. Wikipedia quotes her as saying, "I I used to work near the market sellers. Every day I'd walk past and the old guys would yell out "Allo darlin'" as they ashed into their fruit bowls."

The 2012 album Europe quickly became a favorite of mine, since it has a number of wonderfully jangly pop songs on it. "Capricornia" is just about the perfect pop song, in my opinion, although "Wonderland," "Some People Say," and "Still Young" are also really good. If you're looking for an album of feel-good music, try this one.

I'm now watching a German Netflix series called "Dark", about time travel and the apocalypse. It occurs in a small German town called Winden which has a nuclear power plant. There are a lot of characters who we see at different ages and different years.

This problem surfaced when I had to reset and restore my phone, and I'm getting nowhere trying to research it, because every search I do assumes I'm the Blogger site owner and am having trouble getting MY blog to display correctly for ALL users.

* in your 50s
* with uncorrected vision (or have had LASIK, as I did)
* but need low-power reading glasses for comfortable reading (in other words, if you're likely to be using similar font-size and accessibility settings to what I use),
*and if you view this blog on your phone in portrait orientation,

...would you mind telling me what the last word in the first line of the AI post below is on your phone? For me, it's "staleness" - pretty much no matter what display settings I dink around with. I can increase the font size in a couple of ways, but not much, and when I do, it makes other sites' fonts unnecessarily huge. Before restoring my phone, I'd estimate that the last word would have been somewhere around "already," or maybe even "A.I."

I've come across no other sites that look different to me since doing my reset/restore. So I'm assuming this is a my-phone problem, but I'm stymied and am VERY tired of either squinting at the still-impossibly tiny print in landscape orientation or zooming in and having to scroll side to side.

Touring Syria and Palestine between June 10 and July 21, 1919, and soliciting petitions from local inhabitants, the commission found that a vast majority of Arabs favoured an independent Syria, free of any French mandate, and that, of about 1,875 petitions received, 72 percent were hostile to the Zionist plan for a Jewish national home in Palestine. Such findings, coupled with Zionist talk of dispossession of the Arabs, led the commission to advise a serious modification of the Zionist immigration program in Palestine.
