The words of a Muslim Bedouin LCol in the IDF:

Lt.-Col. Nader Eyada, a Muslim Bedouin serving in the IDF as a Battalion Commander: “Islam does not approve raping women, killing elderlies and kidnapping children. Israeli arabs and Israeli Jews are fighting shoulder to shoulder and we will eliminate Hamas and protect our home, the State of Israel”

Indeed.

Merry Christmas Eve eve!

My wife and I made more killer fudge last night, and she's starting to mix for several dozen butter pecan cookies--her mother's recipe. If I don't get in her way, she may have time to bake them tonight as well as mix the dough for the chocolate crinkle cookies--also her mom's.

I'm afraid to look at the scales, but my feet and ankles tell me by hurting, and hiding from my sight.

Apparently the Bee put this out a few weeks ago. It is pretty good. It is one of the few times the joke doesn't drag on too long. I timestamped it to cut out a beginning part which I think detracts from the skit itself. Old Western: The Ballad of Cornpop

Clyde's Top 15 Favorite "New" Songs of 2023 - #8 - "Someday, Not Today" - The Broken Spokes - Where I Went Wrong (2022)

The Broken Spokes are a country band from Houston that has been playing the honky tonk circuit in Texas for years and finally cut their debut album last year. It's a great album with a classic country sound, and there were lots of good songs to choose from for this selection, but "Someday, Not Today" was my favorite track from the album, so here it is.

The Broken Spokes - Someday, Not Today"

Bonus song: "Maybe We'll Just Disappear" - Kimmie Rhodes (w/ Waylon Jennings) - West Texas Heaven (1995)

I wasn't really listening to this kind of music in 1995, but the beauty of streaming music is that it lets you catch up on what you missed out on the first time around. This album is fantastic, with Rhodes singing some songs with Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Townes Van Zandt. This particular song appeals to me because of my personal connection to the Berlin Wall, among other things.

History was reimagined by the dumbest, most demented president in our history, as he preached during his "Salute to America" speech about AA rockets during the Revolutionary War.

July 4, 2019.

Many thanks to Joe Rogan for this reference.

On Saturday, I exchanged some messages on this blog with fellow commentor Tim in Vermont. We discussed whether the USA and Russia ever agreed to limit NATO's expansion into Ukraine while the Soviet Union disintegrated. In that discussion, I recommended watching a C-SPAN video of a talk on that subject given by historian M.E. Sarotte. She has written a book titled Not One Inch, published in 2021.

Subsequently, today, I decided to watch another video by that same Professor Sarotte, titled The Collapse: The Accidental Opening of the Berlin Wall. This video prompted many thoughts in me.

The the collapse of the Berlin Wall in 1989 shares some similarities with the current collapse of the USA's border with Mexico. This current collapse has been quick, uncontrollable and consequential.

In the Berlin case, that collapse accelerated as the East German government tried to re-close its border. The situation began when Hungary opened its border to Austria. Very soon, some East Germans discovered that they could travel on vacation to Hungary and then travel rather freely to Austria and then to West Germany. Eventually as the East German Government tried to close that escape route, the pressure shifted directly to East Berlin, until the Berlin Wall itself collapsed.

Professor Sarotte tells this story very well in her hour-long video.

The current collapse of our USA-Mexico border is still developing. We do not know how this story end, but it seems that a similarity is that our current border collapse might be uncontrollable.

Christmas movie recommendation:
Robin and the 7 Hoods (1964) (for rent on Amazon Prime)
Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Bing Crosby, Peter Falk and Victor Buono in essentially an all male musical. I think of it as a Christmas movie because it ends at Christmas time.

Trump's full quote was “Our army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do, and at Fort McHenry, under the rockets’ red glare, it had nothing but victory."

So this genius josephbleau gives only part of the quote, omiiting the part about airports in 1776, and accused somebody else of "dissembling"

Between threats from China and the southern border invasion, I am not sure which is more dangerous. Both threats have been accelerated and exacerbated under the current administration. I am leaning towards the southern border as being the larger threat.

When Obama said he was going to fundamentally transform America, lefties applauded. He put the people and the seeds in place for his third term (Read: Biden) to execute.

How can schools ramp up to handle the illegal influx? Likewise the medical community? Who will handle their housing needs? Nutrition needs? Our country is the "brokest" country in the history of the planet. Leftie are already calling for amnesty for the illegals and by extension, their vote.

The fundamental transformation is here. The standard of living us boomers have enjoyed is coming to end. My 12 grandchildren are going to see their futures evaporate. Although they are all intelligent and hard working, the system the Commies will put in place will stifle any upward mobility. For them, this is as good as it gets.

There is not a single critic that any supporter of Zionism will approve of, so - just like when I was in France and never saw anyone return a bottle of wine - I know their opinion is full of shit. Like relying on good ol' objective-and-fair Benny Morris:

"There is no justification for acts of rape. There is no justification for acts of massacre. Those are war crimes. But in certain conditions, expulsion is not a war crime. I don't think that the expulsions of 1948 were war crimes."

What a guy. Let's recap: confirmed and documented atrocities by Zionists - fine and dandy. Made-up attrocities by Hamas, featuring no evidence, after two months - those are the horrific and barbaric acts of savages. That's the kind of "historian" Drago's relying on for an honest telling of the past.

Any 21st century atheist can see how backward it is, to go on and on about a '7th century belief system,' just to defend a Zionist claim on land from 2,000 years ago; an idea conceived in the 19th century. Add in approving of the mass rape, murder, and theft of innocent civilians, and - morally speaking - there simply are no words.

George Conway: "And I've got to say this about my former political party. Ronna Romney McDaniel, the woman who changed her name so that it wouldn't displease Donald Trump, I mean this is the sleaziest thing ever. Whether or not it's criminal we'll set that aside. It's just the sleaziest thing ever. And if my former political party had any decency or shame, she'd be out on her ass, forgive my language."

Conway was responding to a report from The Detroit News that Trump and McDaniel pressured Wayne County canvassers not to certify election results following the 2020 election. According to the report, McDaniel was caught on an audio recording saying “If you can go home tonight, do not sign it . . . . We will get you attorneys.” Wayne County had already certified the election of Joe Biden.

Ronna is a granddaughter of Michigan Governor and businessman George W. Romney and a niece of Massachusetts Governor and U.S. Senator Mitt Romney of Utah, whom Donald Trump dislikes because he voted for TFG's impeachment. George Conway was married to former Trump Campaign Manager and counselor, Kellyanne Conway until their divorce last summer after 22 years and four children. Kellyanne accused George of “cheating by tweeting.”

Trump never should have started that university, he should have taken a million dollars for a no show teaching job at Penn, then made the guy who paid him through this money laundering scheme, his Secretary of State, then sat back and watched the world fall to chaos under the leadership of the guy who bought the job. That’s how Joe Biden does things and his presidency is extremely popular, isn’t it?

Avoid hybrid heat-pump water heaters like the plague if you live in cold regions. We have one, and it's slow to heat when the garage temperatures are in the 50s. After running the dishwasher, the water temperatures several hours later are just warm, but not hot. The water temperature is warm enough for a shower, but not hot enough for an ideal shower. I don't freeze, but I'd like the water to be hotter.

I wish we'd spent the extra $2,000 for a propane water heater. The replacement water heater will definitely be propane, with the extra piping required for that.

These hybrid water heaters would probably be good for Florida, Southern California or Puerto Rica. Not anywhere else in the winter.

"Trump Tells Hugh Hewitt Kamala Harris Would ‘Be Better’ Than Biden as President" Sometimes a word-salad V.P. is better than a mumble word/dementia President.

There's a perennial nut ball candidate named "Goodspaceguy" that would make a better King County, WA, County Executive than the duly elected Dow "The Incompetent" Constantine. Dow's been in office for 11-years now, and is not running for reelection next year. He was going to end homelessness in ten years, but is no where near that goal. He hired a Mark "nincompoop" Dones as director of the Seattle-King County Homeless Authority. Dones quit last year after accomplishing nothing.

"extra $2,000 for a propane water heater."

Home Depot sells 50 gallon propane water heaters for around $1000. I just happen to be shopping for a 40 gal residential and a 100 gal commercial water heater this morning. $5,000 - $6,000 for the big one... It's not the capacity but the BTU's that make the big ones expensive.
