Trump voters are more about liking Trump, not disliking Biden, and Biden voter are more about disliking Trump, not liking Biden.

And that's more of a problem for Democrats than it is Republicans. For the pathological narcissist, attention is oxygen. After 8 years, the Democrats and their willing accomplices in the mainstream media have been in complete and utter denial about this law of nature.

The conspiracy theorist Angel sitting on my left shoulder keeps telling me that the power elite like to keep the boogeyman afloat so that they can distract everyone from their own confidence game.

As Tuli Kupferberg of the Fugs said, in the song "River of Shit" "Were our founding fathers the less of 2 evils?"

He was singing about how most elections are based on electing the lesser of 2 evils.

It sounds like that is what Biden voters are voting for.

But those of us who support our president emeritus believe that he is not the lesser of 2 evils. We believe that he is the best of 330mm Americans. For president, at least.

Again - the left and many in the middle will crawl over broken glass to vote against Trump.
This is the problem that his die-hards refuse to acknowledge.

Let the vote fraud begin!!
I wonder what disease they're going to shut down the country for so that they can manipulate the mail in vote.

Joe Biden is despised and hated by anybody that is not a democrat. He’s the most despicable person to ever attain the presidency and that includes Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Roosevelt, Lyndon Johnson and Barack Obama. That’s five evil motherfuckers right there and the country will not recover.

I did not see the debate last night but I did see the 1st one and bits of the 2nd. And I read Stephen Green's liveblog of it this morning.

A pretty dreadful lot. Who is the least bad of all those non-entities. Hard for me to choose. Maybe Ramaswami. Maybe Nikki Haley.

In general, living in Puerto Rico which has no electoral votes, is a great thing this year. I am not asked to choose.

If I were, and PEDJT is not a candidate, I might well vote for Biden.

We may need a few more years before we bottom out and start fixing the country. I don't think any of the current Repos have much interest in it. It may take the creeping fascism of today turning into the full-blown fascism or tomorrow to get the American citizenry off its collective ass and do something about it.

As Lenin said, "Worse is better". He might say, if alive today "Let's go Brandon"

I sent PEDJT $100 bucks cash a couple months ago. I told him it was a gift to use for legal defense, campaign or dinner with Melania. I don't remember when the last time I gave money to a presidential candidate was. Certainly not for 30-40 years.

I sent cash in an envelope with no return address to Mar-A-Lago. I don't want to end up on any govt list.

Independents look more like trump voters than beiden voters, the main difference is that beiden people worry more about abortion, enviro, healthcare, and gun control, plus “threat to democracy”, a code word for “hate trump”. Trump people worry more about inflation and crime. It amuses me that beiden people worry more about gun control than crime.

So the split is on big lib issues, Trump should hit the economy to win independents and soft pedal the a e h g issues.

There are five Trump haters for every 1 Trump lover. That the Trump lovers don't recognize an impending Biden victory is disturbing enough. That they don't recognize Trump doesn't care either--that for him it's only and entirely about him--is alarming and depressing.

I thought DeSantis made Trump look like the promise-breaker he is. Alas - Trump and the left want desperately to defeat DeSantis.
Plus - everyone on that debate stage - love, like or hate them -they all know how to speak clearly and articulately. Unlike Trump... who sounds like he never graduated from high school.

Sorry, I don't buy it. Trump won solely because of the abomination he was running against, Hillary Clinton. Trump would not have won against Obama, or Bill Clinton, or a Subway sammich. But perhaps in retrospect the Trump administration is viewed favorably by those who voted for it, so they remember liking him. Certainly the Biden administration cannot be viewed favorably by anyone, hence those low "like" numbers.

Mike Petrik said...

2016 was a referendum on Hillary as much as Trump. 2020 was all about Trump. That seems to be where we are heading for 2024 unfortunately. The breadth of Trump support will be hurt by his post-election misbehavior, just as the breadth of Biden support will be hurt by his poor performance as President. But because the election will be all about Trump, I suspect Biden squeaks by. It is a shame since he is such a lousy President and any of the other GOP candidates would be an improvement.

Looks like Trump is alone on the ballot. Voters will either vote for him or against him. So far the media and the Dems have done a good job making us hate him. Especially when he is hard to like even if you try.

I liked that nationwide poll of every single voter in the U.S. from back in November of 2020:

Who do you vote for, for President?
Biden - 51.3%
Trump - 46.8%

AMDG said...

What is most interesting in the polls are when you dig down:

1. Trump polls behind a generic Republican by anywhere from 7% to 10% in all the swing state polling.

2. If Trump is convicted of a felony his support crashes and we are looking at a Reagan-Mondale situation.

3. A generic Democrat beats Trump like a rented mule. If you don’t think the Democrats will replace Biden in the face of a disaster you have never heard of Robert Torricelli.

I saw clips from the Trump last evening’s Trump rally. To call it listless would be an understatement. The video of people walking out while Trump was still droning on was funny. Trump confusing Little Rocket Man with Xi was not exactly the best thing to happen with Trump trying to make Biden’s senility an issue.

Amature psycologist and political stratigists all on board today.
And yet, I stand, he continues to get his point accross with voters.
If four of the five swing states are 8+ points in favor of Trump what does that mean for the rest of the states?
Some of y'all are wishcasting.

@ Rusty - when that doesn't happen, will you apologise for contributing to the lies?

The Democrats stole the last election in their time-honored ways, not from any of this conspiracy nonsense. You aren't one of the smart ones waking us up. You are one of those putting us to sleep. Again.

It's the conservatives who go all "smarter than the rest of you" who have lost us election after election. Preserving their paranoid interpretations is more important to them than preserving the Republic. Conservative sentiments on issues and fear of leftist extremism are still dominant in this country, but we piss that away.

Thanks a bunch.

I tend to agree. I doubt anyone can defeat the Dims candidate, whoever it is. They have the vote fraud down to a science. Arizona saw a new variant in 2022. Just prevent the voting machines in Republican districts from working on election day.

I thought we all pretty much understood that formulation, but nice to see them generate data to support it. They never have understood how many of us disliked Trump until he won and performed well. That alone earned him enduring respect from GOP voters abused and ignored by GOPe for our whole lives.

Vivek understands that too as your other post quoting Greenwald makes explicit. Haley and Christie make my skin crawl. IDK why Scott is even there.

Democrats, for their part, will vote for political congruence ("="), the wicked solution for "burdens" h/t Obama, redistributive change (e.g. shared responsibility through progressive prices), medical mandates, albinophobia, Levine's dreams of Herr Mengele, ethnic Springs, diversity, equivalence and inclusion (DEI), CAIR, black holes... whores h/t NAACP, academic profligacy, selling sea shell companies by the seashore, conflation of logical domains, ethical religion, etc.

The Republican party and Trump loyalists need to take a good hard look at Trump and realize he may take good policy stances and he might be a fighter, but a President is supposed to be a leader and every one of his closest, non-family appointees has now turned on him. He enabled covid shutdowns. He lost to Biden. He failed in his efforts to overturn the election or show proof of fraud. He's a failure. And he's a polarizing failure at the nadir of his life, who has put himself above his country sometimes.

Disliking Biden is not a good reason for wanting to vote for Trump. Further, the Republican party is crumbling in part because it's spent 7 years dealing with Trump. Again, failed leadership on his part.

Move on.

We are still pretending like the dems won't force Joe to withdraw, when his numbers get bad enough. To a Trump-supporter, it's Trump or bust. To a Dem, they don't care, they just want to stay in power. The Dems definitely have the upper hand. It's a much easier objective.

I will wet my pants laughing when Michelle Obama beats the crap out of Trump and you fools never saw it coming. I hate Obama but I'm at the point where I am ready to watch the world burn. A piece of shit person will be our next president. Some of you will LOVE that piece of shit. You will make excuses for your favorite piece of shit and explain how your corrupt piece of shit is actually honest and honorable. I'm over it. Can't wait to watch Trump get embarrassed again and listen to you crybabies complain about fake voter fraud that you can never prove happened in a court of law. I am asked to believe that the dreadlocked, pothead losers that volunteer for the Democrat party are ALSO fucking super genius criminal masterminds that left no trace! Really guys?

I feel quite a bit better. Thanks.

Interesting way to put it. Probably true. Also irrelevant.

I'm in the "rigged" camp, which rigging seems to me pretty hard for the riggers to deny given that in 2016 they were trying to make the case that a few Russian ad buys flipped the election, and that we now know that conservative voices were throttled ten times more frequently than progressive ones on social media during the 2020 election season and that, post election, Biden voters sufficient actually to flip the election said they would have voted the other way if they'd known about Hunter's laptop. Which they were prevented from knowing about. And that was before all the revelations since then, including the whole social media rigging thing itself.

Regardless. I'll vote for Trump if he's the nominee but, like many here, I sure wish he weren't running.

And the "problem" that you never seem to acknowledge is that the overwhelming majority of actual Republican voters support Trump, and don't support the other Republican candidates. That is the reality of the situation.

Maybe instead of telling those "die hard" voters how stupid they are, you should listen to them, stop vilifying their preferred candidate, and tell them that you are going to do everything that Trump has already shown them that he was willing to try to accomplish, and that you mean it. You are not going to win anything by being a paler version of the Democratic Party.

THis just confirms what everyone knows. Biden voters are morons who don't really care what he does or says. They just hate those "Goddamn Republicans". It ties in with their stupid view that what the Government does is irrelevant UNLESS it affects them RIGHT NOW and PERSONALLY.

Otherwise, they don't really give a damn.

In a sane society, they wouldn't be allowed to vote. But here we are.
