The reason for the plea deal offering by the government may be they didn’t want to go through the discovery process?

It is hilarious and kind of scary at the same time that this case hinges on determining what Trump thought about the election in 2020. It seems blindingly obvious to me that Trump really did believe he was cheated out of the victory in both Georgia and a couple of other states or more, and I agree with him- the Democrats stole the election with an avalanche of fraudulent mail-in ballots, and the right to examine the actual ballots has been almost completely denied to his legal team, and it is hard to explain this denial as anything other than a coverup of what transpired.
How exactly do you prove that Trump didn't really believe this?

But I think chances are 90% he did not legitimately win Georgia and maybe 65% he did not legitmately win Pennsylvania. I think he probably won Arizona (we have incompetence but not enough systematic deep-seated corruption here for Dems to try and steal it here).
I think what happened in Fulton county was absolutely corrupt and it's amazing that Trump is on trial there for questioning it.

Yesterday ABC "obtained" video of Jenna Ellis providing hearsay evidence that Dan Scavino said that Trump said he just wasn't going to leave the White House.
Problem is...Trump did leave the White House...peacefully. And of all of our leaders, he chose not to attend Biden's bullshit inauguration.

My suspicion is that it's less about covering up a steal, and more about covering up that the elections in these big counties are a mess because the people working there are incompetent and corrupt. See also: Maricopa county. The problem is that no one in charge actually knows or follows the law, while money provided for things like training, equipment, and supplies is squandered or embezzled.
Gawd sometimes I really hate our judicial system. Worse than snail’s pace. Can’t find out in a reasonable time what happened in 2020 in order to fix or mitigate any fraud in time for the next election. The fraud will only increase until the sunlight and legitimate prosecutions stop it. Or until the R’s are the ones who win fraudulently.
I have no doubt there were the usual shenanigans. The Democrats stole as many votes as they could and may have stolen enough to turn a loss into a win. But the biggest culprit in Trump's loss was simply that he got outhustled. All the changes introduced during the COVID era had the effect of empowering get-out-the-vote efforts over citizens choosing for themselves to cast a vote.
Trump told Republicans to vote in person while the Democrats went out and got every person who wasn't determined to vote Republican to vote Democrat (or at least made sure their ballot was cast for the Democrat). That's why Trump lost and if Republicans continue fixate on the stolen election, the Democrats will steal the next one too.

Cmon Virgil. The person in charge of making sure Maricopa County followed the election rules, and we know for certain they did not follow the correct procedures, is the lady now sitting in the Governor's chair. Machines only "failed" in Republican districts. The ballots provided Republicans couldn't be read by the those same machines when they weren't broken. How "deep" does it really have to be to get across the cheating line? AZ = fucked up. They admitted it in Kari Lake's lawsuit depositions but there is no recourse now that we were denied hearings at the moment they were needed.
One thing to consider, as someone who follows the fulton county information, is that this county seems incompetent, and that it's hard to distinguish incompetence from fraud.
Example: NYC city in 2021 accidently counted 150,000 test ballots in the real election.
They had to run all the ballots again and remove the test ballots.
Now, just imagine Fulton County making the same mistake in say, 2020. (And they have so many places to make these mistakes, BTW)
But because if that was found to be the case, it would help Trump, hurt GA GOP, you could see everyone line up to stop this from being found out.

The whole trial is nonsense. Trump wasn't trying to OVERTURN an election. He was trying to get Sec of state of GA to do his job. One was which was to audit the mail-in ballots for matching signatures.
The charge is bogus. The DA is a hardcore Democrat operative who only took this to trial to destroy to Trump. Its "Lawfare".
One expected the GA legislature or Governor Kemp to stop this travesty, but they are as corrupt as The Democrats. Kemp is nevertrump, and GA leglislature is bought off. They don't care if biden is re-elected. Nor do they care if GA Republicans never win another US Senate Seat.
My family was involved in Philadelphia Democrat politics going back to the 1960’s. I can assure you that everything that happened in Milwaukee and Fulton County on election night was perfected in Philadelphia from way back then. Only the technology has changed.

Democrats always like to stand up and proclaim: "Voter Fraud? Voter Fraud? Why, show us the evidence ! Where are all the court cases, then ? ", etc.. That was the beauty of the crime, that the essence of the crime was the destruction of the evidence, the obliteration of the custody chain intrinsic to the integrity of each mail-in ballot. As soon as the envelopes were opened and signatures were not vetted, as soon as the lawful processing procedures of checks and balances and ballot controls were circumnavigated, the crime was complete, over in an instant - as the opened ballots were simply added to the pile, the anonymity of their provenance guaranteed.
And without video evidence of this happening, it is a crime without record. Who's going to testify as witness? We know the stories of Republican observers being run out of the room, sometimes aggressively. We know the stories of the resumption of counting, in private, in the wee hours where the spike in cumulative votes appeared. We have the film of the windows being papered over to prevent witnessing the activities inside. Of course the Democrat poll workers are staying mum. They've seen what happens to whistleblowers.

I was a poll worker and told to ignore the fact there no witness signatures on absentee ballot envelopes as are required by law in Wisconsin. Now, I only worked 1 poll location but knew procedure since I have been a poll worker in Dane County for 10 years.
When I asked the village clerk why procedures were being changed she said the UNELECTED WI ELECTION COMMISSION said it was fine because of Covid.
How many absentee ballots were processed in Wisconsin under rules changed at the last minute by an unelected person named Megan Wolfe?

I have never attempted to read, let alone understand, Finnegan's Wake but I have learned to read and understand the Washington Post and "do not appear to directly implicate Trump." means that they absolutely do not implicate the ex-president. As well, I suppose they will argue it's an admission by a party opponent, but, again, it's not Trump's alleged statement. It's an alleged statement of an aide at a Christmas party. Anyway, it seems these charges are a joke (Again, I speak from near total ignorance of these prosecutions since I've paid almost no attention to them). My 0.02 anyway.

This is not hearsay, not even double hearsay. It is hearsay of Dan Scavino's reading of Trump's mind.
I don't know what kind of courts they have in Georgia, but it is mindblowing that a prosecutor would even attempt to use Ellis as a witness to get this into evidence.

It's a shame. The crux of the entire matter is about...whether the 2020 Presidential election was fraudulent in targeted swing states. How stupid is it that the question now is, "Did Trump really believe the election was fraudulent in targeted swing states?"

I recall that early on, during the Florida recount between GWBush and AlGore, the Dems attempted to lock observers out of a precinct count. Republicans mobbed the room and refused to leave, and the rest is history with GWBush accurately winning the Florida vote and that election. Never forget that the NY Times exhaustively demonstrated about 2 years post-election that the ONLY way Gore could win was to selectively recount just a few south Florida precincts, which was Gore's desire until slapped down by the courts. Had the Repubs not stopped that one observer-free vote count with a Yuppie Riot, as it was called, Gore likely would have "found" enough votes to win. Gore tried to steal the election.
That said, the Georgia vote count this time around damn well better have a few dozen Repubs at each vote count site, willing to barge in on shenanigans and ensure a correct count of actual votes.
It's pretty obvious from the account that the inaudible portions directly implicated Trump, and that the audible ones indirectly implicated him. Guilty!

Then you weren’t watching the 2022 elections very closely, where Kathy Hobbs, as Sec of State, certified her own election as governor, the Maricopa election supervisor had a heat map on his wall showing where the Republicans were, and those were the precincts where the election machines were illegally updated after being certified (and never retested), and ended up printing one size of ballots, but tried (fairly unsuccessfully) to read them at a different size. Where the resulting long lines prevented thousands of Republicans from voting (esp after a judge refused to extend polling hours). Where a judge banned Republicans from watching drop boxes, and phone GPS tracking showed hundreds of ballot drops of bundles of ballots, by the same people, day after day. Where signature verification was done at better than one per second at at least one location. And where the signatures being verified against were not those in their voter registrations (as required by AZ law). Where there was no chain of custody of the mail in ballots from pickup to counting, and evidence that the contractor collecting the ballots had employees introducing ballots into the stream as they processed them. Etc. There were hundreds of thousands of questionable ballots counted in 2020, and more in 2022, with victory margins by the Dems as low as several hundred, and mostly less than a couple thousand.
Imagine Trump (regardless of circumstance) believing failure.
This is a really bad angle to attack Trump from.
