HOW could this have gone so wrong? it's Just Inconceivable!
Oregon opioid deaths increase 13x after drug decriminalization law:
As Oregon reaches the three-year anniversary of passing its trailblazing law decriminalizing hard drugs like heroin, meth and cocaine, death and devastation are pushing many to plead for its reversal.
According to an August poll from Emerson College, a 56% majority of Oregonians now support overturning the law, which made possession of some illicit drugs punishable by a maximum $100 fine which can be avoided with a "health assessment" – a 24/7 phone service that will help determine what services the person calling might need.

An even larger number of Oregonians — nearly two-thirds — supported repealing parts of Measure 110 to restore penalties for possessing drugs, according to the poll, while only 36% believed it should be left as is.

WHO would have thought, that providing Heron and Cocaine to EVERY resident of the state could have caused Problems!!!

The fire that shut down a huge LA freeway was arson, Gov. Gavin Newsom claims

"A stretch of Interstate 10 in Los Angeles that was seriously damaged in an act of arson does not need to be demolished and can be repaired in three to five weeks, California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Tuesday.

Newsom announced the finding after analysis of core samples taken from the freeway, a vital artery that hundreds of thousands of vehicles use daily. About 100 columns were damaged in the Saturday fire that officials say was started by arson. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
"

More at the link.

Farther inland, on my social media feed, another fire under CA Highway 60 in a recently completed tunnel is ongoing, and the cause/extent is not known.

I understand something happened with Biden and the turkeys pardon ceremony? I heard some buzz on the radio but they were fuzzy on the details.

Here is Biden having a moment with Xi

It’s a whodathunkit contest : Which is worse that we have a senile president, or that prosecution of a presidential candidate would become a legitimate political tactic?

I asked ChatGPT whether a two-state would work as between Israel and Gaza. In its usual two seconds, Chat responded that Hamas rejected the right of Israel to exist as a state and therefore there could be no two state solution until this rejection changed. Maybe we do want the rule of AI.

The Rock, Hollywood's biggest star went on the Joe Rogan Experience, the biggest podcast on the planet and it was the weirdest thing ever, if you know the history between these two.

I described it as a shotgun podcast.

Here's a fellow podcaster, Chael Sonnen attempting to describe what happened.

one of the most upvoted comments: "The Rock’s head is too small for his two faces!"

For those of you who might not remember. When Joe Rogan was getting cancelled for using the N words like 20 years ago, or whatever it was, The Rock was one of those people who piled on Joe by... ostensibly calling Joe a racist.

Be careful what you believe and what you say about yourself.

For years we have been hearing that conditions in Gaza were dire, it was an open air prison and people were living in "refugee camps." However they were were only refugees by legal definition thanks to the UN and the status invented specially for them to keep them permanently dependent on the UNRWA. No other group of people has this special refugee status. This was all largely a propaganda tool. But now that large areas of Gaza have been destroyed I have seen photos that there were many well to do neighborhoods with upscale housing and people who were living prosperous, secure lives. They had shopping malls and beach front villas. Many people had very beautiful and pleasant lives. Not everyone, of course, but Gaza was a beautiful place.

Now Gaza really is a prison and people really are living as displaced refugees in actual camps, dependent completely on aid organizations. It's sad and tragic but also ironic that what they have been falsely claiming for decades is actually reality now. I don't know how it happened but somehow it came true.

From the Washington Monthly:

Judge Sarah B. Wallace of a state district court in Denver, Colorado, . . . found, as a fact, that “[Former President Donald] Trump engaged in an insurrection on January 6, 2021, through incitement, and that the First Amendment does not protect Trump’s speech.” That finding, which came after listening to extensive testimony, implies that Trump cannot run for or be elected president in 2024 because Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment requires that anyone who, “having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States . . . engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same” should be disqualified to hold any office in either state or “under the United States.” However, Wallace ruled that Section Three does not apply to Trump for two reasons: first, the only federal office he held before January 6 was president, and he only aspires to be president. She was “unpersuaded that the drafters intended to include the highest office in the Country in the catchall phrase ‘office . . . under the United States.’”

The Presidency is referred to as an “office” in Article I § 3 (twice), Article II § 1 (eight times), Amendment XII (once), Amendment XX (six times), and Amendment XXV (ten times).

The great Shaker preacher Henry Clay Blinn is supposed to have remarked, “If you think that you can think about a thing, inextricably attached to something else, without thinking of the thing that it is attached to, then you have a legal mind.”

William Baude and Michael Stokes Paulsen, two conservative legal scholars who turbocharged the Section Three Debate earlier this year with a detailed article entitled “The Force and Sweep of Section 3,” explain how the “officer” reading distorts that methodology: “a reading that renders the document a ‘secret code’ loaded with hidden meanings discernible only by a select priesthood of Illuminati is generally an unlikely one.”

“Looking to portray X’s social networking platform as being dominated by ‘white nationalist and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories,’ Media Matters knowingly and maliciously manufactured side-by-side images depicting advertisers’ posts on X Corp.’s social media platform beside Neo-Nazi and white-nationalist fringe content and then portrayed these manufactured images as if they were what typical X users experience on the platform,” the lawsuit says.

Is there a bigger cesspool than Media Matters?

Just one heron? Yes, I know that's just AI spellcheck having its evil way with us, however gilbar was correct in the using the uppercase, at least originally. Heroin and aspirin, were originally (and in some cases continue to be) tradenames registered by Bayer AG. Aspirin is a portmanteau of acetylsalicylic acid and the word aspire. Heroin derives from hero, so named because its primary inventor, Bayer chemist Felix Hoffman, hoped that it would rescue addicts from their slavery to morphine.

Their accusations are then buried in a fusillade of facts. They stalwart lefties, though few and far between, continue the fight. Mark, the gad, mutaman, toss a few hand grenades, are confronted and then subsequently fail to respond. Topics change, the script does not.

Emphasis on the word "were." Zionists say Palestine was a "hell hole" before they arrived. Look at it in 1946 and decide for yourself. I thought it looked like someplace I'd want to visit.

Nothing they say pans out.

A Chicago company is pushing a solution for sheltering both migrants and the unhoused: micro homes.
...Their new MicroHomes are 80 square feet and can house up to six people. CEO Swanson believes the micro homes could eventually be used in the over 30,000 vacant lots spread across the city...If the city wanted these houses, Swanson said it would take less than a month for production to ramp up and they could produce several units per month.

In the last eight days, in contrast, 16 buses have arrived."

“It’s been about one bus a day since July,” she said. “So on any given bus, we have 40 to 50 individuals."

Wow, sure looks like Media Matters manufactured a news story to financially harm X. I don’t know if it is defamation, but it certainly suggests a lack of journalistic ethics that caused advertisers to boycott a platform for allowing free speech. What does it say about those companies if they now continue their boycott? Should investors and customers consider these advertisers as opposed to free speech and gullible for reacting to a news story from an unethical source?

As for Disney, yes. They are opposed to free speech and think you are gullible to believe in their paid for movie reviews. Investors and customers have considered these things and responded rationally.

Elon (X) did indeed file the lawsuit on Monday. Dumb Lefty Mark did not realize that, obviously.

So Dumb Lefty Mark gleefully "leaped" into rhetorical action thinking, no doubt, oooohhh this time I've got him!

However, as always, the impenetrable Dumbness of Mark leads him only to embarrassment and justified ridcule.

And to think 90% of Dumb Lefty Mark's embarrassing moments (90% of a BIG number is a BIG number!) could be easily avoided if Mark would simply read up on what is happening from competing sources and perspectives.

But that will never happen.

Alas.
