Skittles banned in California

"California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a landmark law aimed at banning red dye No. 3 and other potentially harmful food additives in consumer goods.

On Saturday, the Golden State became the first in the country to forbid the use of the ingredients found in many popular candies, drinks and more, according to the Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit environmental health organization that cosponsored the law with Consumer Reports.

Also known as the California Food Safety Act, Assembly Bill 418 — introduced by Assemblymembers Jesse Gabriel and Buffy Wicks in February — prohibits the manufacture, sale or distribution of food products in California containing red dye No. 3, potassium bromate, brominated vegetable oil or propylparaben.

Potassium bromate is added to baked goods to help dough strengthen and rise higher.

I ambivalently go back and forth between averting my eyes and believing I should look.

Now we are in a two front war. With our ammunition and weaponry defeated. Who will make it 3 fronts?

Wow, Althouse, where did you get the great pic of Hamas invading by sea?

Pretty sure Hamas is going to be OK. The word has gone out to the media: Stop calling Hamas "terrorists." Call them "gunmen" instead. - Per the New York Times stylebook.

This is just a local crime story now.

The Jews have finally wised up. Israel is loosening their INSANE gun control laws. It will not only take a week for the average Jew to arm himself against Hamas terrorists.

“Any citizen who meets the detailed tests for carrying a private firearm due to self-defense and serving the security forces, and is without a criminal or medical record, will be required to undergo a telephone interview instead of a physical interview, and will be able to receive permission to carry a firearm within a week,” said Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir.

I wonder how many babies Hamas can behead in a full week of waiting for your gun license?

Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman on Tuesday roundly objected to a controversial statement from a group of Harvard University student organizations solely blaming Israel’s occupation of Gaza for Hamas’ weekend attack on Israel, calling for the names of the students to be released in an effort not to hire them.

I'm kind of surprised that smart companies would be hiring the idiots Harvard produces in the first place, but you're not supposed to say that out loud.

It's a good starting point, although I don't understand why he needs the names of the individuals involved. It would be far easier to just not hire anyone with a Harvard degree. After all, Harvard University taught these people to support the terrorists.

I am looking for answers. Maybe one of our resident lefties could provide them (gadfly, Mark, Rich, readering).

How many Islamic terrorists have crossed our southern border unimpeded in the last few years? 10? 100? 10,000? It only took 24 to bring down the towers.

Hiker, if you read up on Harvard Business School, or if only you had had the privilege to watch these miracle workers do their jobs, you would not call them idiots. and even lawyers playing politicians want a Harvard JD.

And you know and I know that the letter signed by Harvard students does not represent the entire school.

It is simply amazing how a country can be crying about misinformation one day, but 100% sure it's ready to go to war the next.

This is why, after World War II, people had to ask if ALL the Germans were Nazis,....

These are Americans in the 21st-century, and our education system is the best, as we're going to war - again.

This fucking place is hopeless. Or, at least, it instills hopelessness in it's citizenry.

We have all been immersed in live coverage of the Israel terrorist attacks. Multiple talking heads in battle gear, giving the live, bomb by bomb coverage. 3 days of live coverage.

Now name all the times you have SEEN any coverage of the Ukraine battles?

iowan2 said...

After 3 days of seeing nothing on the cables news but live reports from the atrocities visited on Israel. Three days of dozens of journalists in flak vests and helmets. I got questions.

Why have I seen no reporting like that from Ukraine? Its almost like the Ukraine war is being produced for public consumption.

Re: not hiring Harvard graduates (per Buck...)-
If I were hiring, I would be sure to have a blank for Preferred Pronouns on the form, noting that it's optional to fill in the blank. I would also have an "Other" category for Sex, in addition to Male and Female.
Only the tightest labor market would cause anyone filling in the pronoun option or checking "Other" to be considered for any position. In an ordinary situation, those applications would go straight to the round file.
Probably not legal in CA and several east coast states, so YMMV.

@Buckeheathikes, they shouldn’t hire anyone from Harvard, period. Assume that everyone was selected for having the “right” (meaning extreme left) views, and that all have been equally indoctrinated. In fact go farther. Don’t hire anyone from any Ivy.

Well before my retirement I refused even to interview Ivy League graduates for college hire positions. I got tired of dealing with snots who thought that their Ivy degree meant that they should have the best assignments and that they didn’t have to show me what they could do out in the real world.
