"In view of many extremely online, spiritually unwell conservatives, [Ryan] Carson’s brutal death was a form of karmic justice."
"You see, the young man had advocated for safe injection sites after losing friends to opioid overdoses. And he dedicated his adult life to working on various left-wing causes, above all the promotion of recycling and environmentally friendly approaches to dealing with solid waste. And his girlfriend had advocated for police abolition. Therefore, Carson had reaped what he’d sowed. The far-right provocateur Mike Cernovich disseminated a surveillance video of Carson’s death, beneath the caption, 'Hey bro just like chill out bro I’m on your side bro go attack the magats bro bro bro noooooo.' Other conservatives turned photos of Carson’s dead body into memes about the perils of wokeness.... [S]adistically mocking a victim of violent crime whose politics they did not like... is... morally grotesque.... Gloating over the violent deaths of people you disagree with is... vile and ineffective.... You will not persuade anyone...."

Sorry, you do reap what you sow. However, most of the criticism is of how Carson behaved in that video- he is truly a Darwin award winner. If I got killed trying walk across I-40 in the middle of the night, I would hope my family and friends wouldn't complain when people point out how stupid I was.
More lib idiots spewing their Democrat Party hypocrisy. Good riddance to another detestable leftist rat. Can't wait for the next one.
I'm gonna quote Candace Owens here. "Life is rough, get a helmet". Ryan made many foolish mistakes that aligned to cost his life, could have cost hers. His demise could be reasonably expected. As Gunny would say, "Ya hate yourself, bitch".
It's cosmic irony, nothing to do with karma.
Eric Levitz cries out in pain as he strikes you. These are the people who rejoice over Kansas tornados killing grannies because climate change and wished death on people who refused to vaccinate.
The marriage is over. We will not tolerate two standards for hypocrisy. I hope Levitz meets the same fate Ryan did.
Civility BS tag needed
The Left constantly celebrates when anything bad happens to a conservative.
MSNBC was giddy when Trump and others got indicted.
As I see it, turnabout is fair play.
I seem to recall a lot of gloating over Rush Limbaugh’s death and that he deserved it. Also, there are some heat who would gloat over Trump’s death. Spiritual sickness is bipartisan.
I never heard of this guy until after he was murdered. It seems he had little hesitation to gloat over violence against and the deaths of conservatives. I don’t cheer over his senseless death, but I don’t particularly feel sorrow over it, either.

Well, considering that the departed had multiple online posts celebrating the death of various conservatives/Republicans, pardon me if I don't play by the rules the Democrats demand fealty to, but exempt themselves from those same rules.
While I would never celebrate anyone’s death, we are long past the point where Prog stupidity can be dismissed with a “they mean well”. Because they don’t.
Let the Blue cities grovel in their dust. They voted for it.
Communists aren’t human beings, therefore no need for outdated bourgeois moral posturing over its death.
It appears his friends have started a Go Fund Me. Not for his funeral expenses, but so they can take time off of work to "grieve".
And his girlfriend refused to identify anything about his killer because she did not want to accuse a black man.
"Gloating over the violent deaths of people you disagree with is... vile and ineffective...."
I'm not gloating over his death but I will admit it's easier to accept than had it been the death of someone who didn't gloat over the death of people he disagreed with.
"You will not persuade anyone...."
Not trying to, but thanks for the advice.
Pretty sure I saw a tweet of the recently murdered man celebrating the death of Rush Limbaugh. But yes, regardless one shouldn't celebrate a person's death because they have different political opinions than you.
I'm not going to get lectured to by some clown writing in the New York Magazine about moral values--one way or the other. Eric Levitz can take a hike.
The reaction of some on the right is appalling. Almost as appalling as people on the left who want to use those reactions to avoid dealing with the real issue of left-wing crime policies creating a crime spree.
The right has it's issues, but they aren't getting people killed. Something the left can't say.
Murder and random madness would be part of an anarchic society. Pointing this out is not gloating, it restores a link to reality from unreality, which is something shared by the victim and the murderer. They live in a world where no one says "we're not having this." One died in that world, and that's both tragic and ironic. There's nothing here to celebrate.
You folks just need to get it in your heads; to the likes of Eric Levitz you are untermenschen! And the untermenschen aren't supposed to do things like point out the irony when ubermenschen like Ryan Carson or Josh Kruger become victims of their own rotten policies.
I'm not going to look, but I strongly suspect a review of Mr. Levitz' prior tweets and comments would find him at significant odds with his new-found calls for civility. Hypocritical, even.
This is the feel bad story of the year...I'm very sorry he got killed. I'm very sorry the girlfriend acted inappropriately in the immediate aftermath of the killing and now tries to raise money off his death.....I think this is a moment she'll replay for the rest of her life....You can't defuse a situation like that with sweet reason. Maybe if she had screamed or tried to distract the killer or just done something. Those are the thoughts that she is going to think for the rest of her life. Maybe if some people say nasty things about her on twitter it will help to assuage some of the guilt and second guessing. She can pretend that the people who say nasty things about her are much worse than the killer and that her way for dealing with these things is the best way. Nonetheless, she going to have a lot of 2 a.m. thoughts about this event.
Totally a leftist's projection of just who's celebrating over deaths.
Eric, baby, let me 'splain you sumting. When you laugh and jeer as some poor slob gets the sh*t kicked out of him for wearing a red hat, and is left unconscious lying in a puddle of blood in the street, as the mob that stomped him rifles through his pockets for his wallet and cell phone, and then get a couple of good parting shots in, that's bad behavior directed at someone minding their own business. That isn't karma, that's crime.
On the other hand, when someone makes a career out of advancing social issues that deal with wokeness, equity re-distribution, de-funding police forces, socialist grandstanding and activism, and rioting with Antifa, giving them advice to be more effective, etc., and that person meets with random violence that has arisen indirectly from those efforts, that's karma. Karma can suck.
When you endorse the first one and condemn the second, that's hypocrisy of the worst stripe. You're not going to win any converts with that.
When I first read that I flashed on that Trump supporting man who was shot point blank in the head during the BLM riots and how the left responded to it.
I'll weigh the right's response against that.

Yeah, no. Most Communists are just dupes. That sentiment is the same as their side's.
He self identified as Antifa- militant, organized provocateurs paid by the left and timed for maximum political benefit…yah, quite the humanitarian…
They really took the bait on this one, Althouse.
I got a pretty big laugh when tough guy started bleating “chill”. It’s even bigger that the skank won’t help put the killer behind bars (I’m aware he’s been arrested. Hey, they call me the bad guy and would kill me if they had a chance and a big enough group.
"Don’t Celebrate When People You Disagree With Get Murdered"
Could Mr. Levitz start by preaching this message in the general direction of his fellow lefties? As others have already pointed out upthread, this young man celebrated the deaths of conservatives and consequently it certainly does come across as an example of reaping what one sows and the Gods of the Copybook Headings and all that.
I'm not happy that he died and even less happy that it came at the hands of an apparently deranged individual who should have been taught better self-control (or else been under psychiatric care). But if it is true that young Ryan Carson regarded himself as a member of Antifa, then those who live by violence, by violence shall they perish (not quite the way Jesus is supposed to have said it, but basically the same thought).
"You will not persuade anyone...."
Why would I try to persuade, Mr. Levitz? You are a creature of the Left. You ignore reality, you scoff at facts, you are immune to logic. Why would I or anyone else try to persuade you that the sun rises in the east or even that water is wet?
Agree with Crack at 6:12pm. It isn't about celebrating anything. It is just recognizing the inevitable that others told us would never happen. The only happiness is that it was a prog, and not some poor person that never wanted to live with their insanity.
Remember when death of a beautiful young assistant DA in Orange County, who was against the Wahun flu, died of it. Her death was a cause celebrè around the world for the left. The metaphorical shoe is on the other foot and they can’t take it.
How can you not have a frisson of schadenfreude when he’s killed by one of the marauding horde members he so resolutely defended? When his loyal squeeze would not even give a description of the killer because he was black. Insanity meets reality time and it’s brutal. And to top it all off his “ friends” have a go fund me so they can properly “ grieve”.
Sorry - sometimes you just don’t care when bad things happen to rotten people.
Man killed on crime-ridden NY City streets. The only reason his death is news is that he was an advocate for the very things that facilitated his death.
I saw a NY Post reporter say "senseless" when talking about the killing. Sure "senseless" means futile or without purpose, but is also "lacking common sense; wildly foolish" which would be the way to describe the victims prior advocacy
Out at 4 am in a dangerous neighborhood, with your girl and you’re both dressed conspicuously, both unable to stay properly alert....choosing a delusion which includes death.
Both ignore dangerous realities of human nature, within hearts, choosing delusion over reality.
Both misunderstand the neighborhood and world in which they live, which they both likely claim to want to save
Such are Socialists, anti-fascists and radical terrorists in a nutshell. Both are likely representative of religious and true believing impulses gone ideological, modern and bad.
Given enough time and influence, both would likely support delusion and terrorism over all of our lives
Observe and think, judge and react accordingly.
I don't want to hear any of this bullshit from the same people who danced on the Graves of those they imagine didn't take the COVID vaccines, of right-wing pundits, and who have ever used the term "Magats" or its ilk. More civility bullshit from bullshitters.
There was surely a lot of 'gloating' going on when Covid free-thinkers met their Maker.
Ha, you assholes wrote new rules, so bugger off. You and your ilk are getting to experience the consequences of your idiotic theories and asinine policies. You all should be allowed to experience these consequences for a long, long time, you've earned it. I will happily enjoy your discomforts or death, either works for me.
"In view of many extremely online, spiritually unwell conservatives, [Ryan] Carson’s brutal death was a form of karmic justice."
Give me a break: the "spiritually unwell" do NOT see "karma". That nonsense is left to the "enlightened" who write NewAge propaganda for publications carrying horoscopes,...
Yes, both sides have a tendency to say: if you disagree with me, this is evidence that you are a bad person, failing in basic judgments of right and wrong. As long as the left has the misinterpreted law on their side, they can tell themselves they are not violent, and their fantasies of harm to the enemy are mostly non-violent, like giving J6ers significant prison terms for trespassing.
It seems the country had a choice with a somewhat failed criminal justice system. Maintain and improve effectiveness, while making prisons more humane, or undermine effectiveness in the name of humanitarianism. Humane to whom? After the riots if the 60s, many Americans resigned themselves to turning thr ghetto over to the gang-bangers. Dems were in favor of pumping cash around, providing government jobs for blacks, and affirmative action. Reps were somewhat opposed to these things. Dems and donors have always favored open borders, which hurts low-paid blacks. Problems have been festering, as they say, and there are rivers or oceans of drugs around.
He was an outspoken racist against all police. He wished violent death on police. He was such a narcissist he let a violent criminal go free to victimize actually innocent people because he grandiosely imagined that his "compassion" changed little tiny Tim into a law abiding armed mugger.
He was a danger and ethical blight on the decent people who lived where he died (but didn't, of course, live.) He signed up to justify the crime that killed him. Anyone who points this out is merely acknowledging his life and his philosophy and mildly observing that the sword he lived by to pierce others finally pierced his flesh.
I'm honoring what he stood for. One might say he was living his best hubris.
For contrast, read "The Sound of Murder" by Danusha Goska, who spent her life actually helping broken nations and communities, at extraordinary personal cost.
