I have been commenting to sympathetic family members and friends for some time now about which of my relatives, friends, and acquaintances would be among the first to denounce me so that I could be sent off to reeducation camp. I always avoid making these comments to any whom I suspect of being likely to do so, i.e. I never talk about this to any relatives, friends, and acquaintances who are Democrats. I don't want to give them ideas. Hilary's comment simply puts into words what the progressives' plan is. As a Catholic, I hope that Shouting Thomas's confidence that the Catholic Church will be the last opponent standing will prove true. Unfortunately, Pope Frankie's recent apostolic letter regarding climate change illustrates how deep the rot is even in the Catholic Church. We need to be quite honest about her. She would never have gotten nominated for POTUS if she wasn't Bill Clinton's wife. And if she hadn't had her path to power smoothed by the Democrat Party Elite. She was given a NY Senatorship, then made Secretary of State, and then given the nomination in 2016 against a fake, controlled primary opposition. This despite large numbers of D's disliked her.
It's not just her. Hillary is the platonic ideal of the global managerial class: overcredentialed, endlessly praised, but always advancing based on connections rather than actual accomplishments, and often failing when actually called upon to perform.
Trump's victory wasn't simply a repudiation of her, but of all of them, which is why they hate him so much.
I din't think Hillary does comedy. Oh, sure. She'll laugh like hell if you fall down a manhole. But then she'll replace the lid.

That's gonna take more 'splaining. "Formal" when associated with "government" always means "serious", so -> "serious deprogramming", which most certainly implies she sees the MAGA people as seriously flawed. I fail to see the humor.

Every time she tries to tell a joke, do a schtick, it's pure cringe (remember her gift of a "Reset" button to her then-pal Vladimir?)
This didn't make me cringe the same way. She said exactly what she believed at the moment she said it. She may have tried walking it back later (she's a fool but not an idiot) and I'm sure Democrats are having an all-hands-on-deck this Friday evening.

I want to expand on my comment at 12:04. First of all, I believe that Hillary's idea about the need for "reeducation" of Trump "cult" members is not an attempt to be funny; it represents what seems to be the consensus among sufficiently extreme lefty extremists. Some of the lefties that comment frequently on this very blog are open about viewing Trump supporters as cultists, as though people are supposed to to enjoy paying more for food and gasoline, and supposed to enjoy learning that the government is not just coming for their gas stoves (which "no one" was actually going to do, remember?) but our air conditioners, ceiling fans, and gas furnaces as well. The people who believe that are stuck in a very small bubble, but they're going to try to enlarge it.
I think we will see this idea of Trump supporters as cultists in need of reeducation expanded first by people thought to be "reasonable," and then in a coordinated campaign pushed by the talking heads on TV and in op-eds and editorials in news media. Along the way the various speakers and writers will push the bingo buttons for various identity groups that are components of the Democrats' coalition, e.g., something for the feminists to convince them to join in, something for blacks, something for Hispanics, something for gays and lesbians, etc. Definitely something for the Christian haters.
Will it work? Lord, I hope not.

I wonder how many of the people who watched their neighbors and friends being stuffed into boxcars and shipped across Europe during WWII thought as Althouse thinks? Nothing to oppressive going on here, they are being taken to a better life.

What's notable is not that she's mocking Trump.
Everybody on the left mocks Trump.
What's notable is that she's mocking everybody who voted for Trump.
She's attacking half the country.
That's highly unusual. Trump doesn't attack half the country. Biden doesn't do that, either. Obama didn't do that, Bush didn't do that, Bill Clinton never did that.
To single out half the country and hate on them is fucked up. Even if it's humor, it's fucked up and angry to be mad at so many Americans, and to make a joke about "deprogramming" them shows she's learned nothing and if anything she's meaner and angrier now.
