He had to submit a "complete medical history, including psychological records and medical notes, establishing a diagnosis of gender dysphoria." This was, in his view "unnecessarily invasive," because "athletes who use medically prescribed testosterone to treat hypogonadism, a condition where the body does not produce enough of the hormone, are not required to submit psychological records when seeking an exemption."

It is excessive to ask for psychological records. A doctor’s note should be sufficient.
Are people required to submit medical records relevant to their treatment? If so, that would explain why people being treated for hypogonadism don't have to submit psychological records while someone wanting to affirm a gender that is not otherwise obvious would.
I'm torn on this one. I don't think ANYONE should be given a TUE for testosterone. You either have it or you don't. But, this Cal person competing as "non-binary" is in a category full of former men, now pretend women, and will never be competitive against them regardless of T levels. The whole thing is just so stupid and messed up.

I like the idea of having a catch-all division. Men, women and then one for all the, ahem, other types.

That's not the question here. A division for "nonbinary" people has already been created. The men and the women are in other categories. Once you have a nonbinary division, why would you exclude people who are getting testosterone as "gender-affirming care"? What's the logic? You can't (easily) say you don't believe in "gender-affirming care," because why would you believe in the idea of a "nonbinary" division. These are people who are already involved in a process that doesn't track with the old male/female system or with the idea you might be proposing — no divisions at all, just one race.

Yes, it seems that there could be an argument that everyone is allowed to take testosterone to top up to the average young man's level.

"They-Them" is incorrect grammar as it pertains to a single person. The victim class should call the category "Gender affirming Them-Them / Incorrect grammar" +/- testosterone. How could anyone not want to join and compete! Sounds dreamy.

In any event, I have no clue as to whether this person is objectively male or female and I'm not going to hurt my brain trying to figure it out.
The reason that they don't require psychological records for hypogonadism is because hypogonadism is not a psychological condition.
All TUE's should be eliminated in my opinion. Most are a scam for taking PEDs with official approval. You would be amazed by how many competitive athletes are on thyroid medication (keeps them lean), or suffer from asthma (Bronchodilators to make breathing easier). Adderall and testosterone are self-explanatory.
I also suffer from a medical condition that prevents me from achieving world class results as a runner. I'm old and slow. I'm almost 60 and a 3:09 marathoner, so I ain't all THAT slow. I'm also not on TRT...
Check out the age group male winners at any good sized road race. Most are muscular as hell and obviously on testosterone replacement.
Suddenly, the entire field at Le Tour de France 2024 will be non-binary. Doping is good...if it's the right kind. Or if you can hide it well enough.
