This morning, it rained, so there are no photos of today's sunrise, but I have sunrise pictures from Sunday, the 13th...

... when we camped on the shore of Lake Superior. This is Horseshoe Harbor, at 6:38 EDT:

About those rocks:
The origin of the rock formation here happened approximately 1 billion years ago when a rift valley was formed in the center of the North American continent. This caused many sequences of lava flows, which is why we now find volcanic basalts and rhyolites here. However, eruptions were not consistent over time, and this allowed for periods of erosion to occur between lava flows. Repetition of these sequences combined with tremendous pressure from the layers piling atop one another formed the conglomerate structures now visible at Horseshoe Harbor....

Beautiful pictures.

Late August / early September are prime months in the Midwest.

I'm inspired to get a camper and do these kind of trips.

Trump canceled his Monday press conference that was purportedly chock full of evidence of massive voting fraud. I’m very disappointed, I was so looking forward to it.

The Last Resort

You can leave it all behind and sail to Lahaina
Just like the missionaries did so many years ago
They even brought a neon sign 'Jesus is Coming'
Brought the white man's burden down, brought the white man's reign

Who will provide the grand design, what is yours and what is mine?
'Cause there is no more new frontier, we have got to make it here
We satisfy our endless needs and justify our bloody deeds
In the name of destiny and in the name of God

And you can see them there on Sunday morning
Stand up and sing about what it's like up there
They called it paradise, I don't know why
You call someplace paradise, kiss it goodbye

Nice shots. I'm glad you are getting out in your camper. We love to get out in our small RV. We often travel with my wife's sister and her husband. They have the same model RV that we have - a 20 foot Pleasure Way Excel. They tend to be on the road for six to eight weeks. We tap out after 21 days or so. The only thing better than hitting the road for three weeks is returning home after being on the road for three weeks. My favorite trips are two weeks to a mountain campground. A nearby stream, river or lake is a bonus.

Trump should get off the stick to pay for Rudy’s defense, because if the former mayor ever got desperate enough to flip (and if prosecutors ever believed they could make Rudy a credible witness), then he could provide really damaging testimony against Trump, perhaps implicating TFG in something really damaging, like a direct conspiracy with Russian spies that Trump has been dodging since 2016.

But Trump always bets on the come, and of late, he has been losing.

Rudy was Trump's lawyer during impeachment, and the DoJ raided his offices, seized his computers and phones, and have charged him with what, exactly? Defending Trump?

Rudy's investigation of Joe Biden's now clearly documented corruption in Ukraine was in fact relevant to his defense in the impeachment trial. One by one, the Department of Just Us has been raiding the offices of Trump's lawyers, pressuring them to "flip" by whatever means come to hand. The main reason for that raid was to find out what Rudy had on Joe.

My question regarding Rudy's role in this is has the Delaware State Police acted on the child pornography and evidence of statutory rape by Hunter that was on the laptop that he left at that repair shop.

Oh, and gadfly, you do know that even the FBI and the CIA knew that the charges of Russian collusion were made up out of whole cloth by the Hillary campaign, which was in cahoots with Ukrainian election meddlers at the time, and so blamed their arch enemy for what they were doing, right? This is all public knowledge, unlike the evidence against Trump regarding Russia that you guys are sure exists, but still haven't found.

“I watched that bridge collapse,” he [Joe Biden] continued. “I got there and saw it collapse with over 200 feet off the ground going over a valley. It collapsed. Thank God school was out during the — during the pandemic.”

Thank goodness Joe Biden is not senile or a pathological liar.

You're behind as usual
They already got the Russian conspiracy conviction. It just happens to be the FBI . You know, the guys framing Trump, are the ones in league with Russia.

It's funny how this article from Atlanta tV news falsely claims that there were no allegations of fraud by the Democrats in the 1960 election in HI, when in fact, that's why they sent the alternate electors. A judge had rejected their claims.

It's also ridiculous to claim that the Trump electors met "in secret" when the Democrats in HI in 1960 did so in the open. Was the 1960 plan come up with in an open meeting by people thinking out loud? Or was the plan first hatched in a private meeting. Of course this was 1960 there was not constant electronic recording of everything that happened, was there. If there were secret meetings prior to the reveal of the plan, who could possibly know?

The third claim is "recounts" Well, if there are disputed ballots, and you refuse to look at that, but only recount them, you will never get to the truth, it will be like the purported Einstein quote about insanity, doing the same wrong thing over and over.

If this is the best they have regarding Trump's criminality with regards to the time-honored practice of sending alternative electors for the House to judge, as is provided for in the plain text of the Constitution, then I would say that the Democrats have nothing here but bluster and lies.

This one is hysterical:

- America needs 37 "faithless electors” from states Trump won to do this in order to drop him below the 270 threshold and block him from automatically winning the White House. The election would be determined by the House of Representatives, which has a constitutional right to pick another candidate

- The election would be determined by the House of Representatives

"Hunter Biden’s tax charges were dismissed by leftist Judge Maryellen Noreika on Thursday.

Hunter was caught twice failing to pay over $100,000 in income tax to the federal government from income of over $1.5 million in 2017 and 2018.

The average American would be fined and/or in prison for committing the same crime."

This emperor's new clothes refusal to connect the dots on Biden's corruption is something to behold. The problem with corruption is that the feedback loops of democracy are cut, and so inevitably, it leads to hubris, greed, overreach, and collapse. Joe Biden is on step #3 right now. The thing is that he is taking the United States with him.

tim in vermont said...

The case was dismissed in Delaware, but the DoJ is allowed to bring charges again. That's more of the kind of reporting that makes GP a source you have to double-check, like the New York Times.
