Left Bank of the Charles said...: Al Sharpton’s remark is not quite as stupid as advertised, the full question he asked was, “Can you imagine if James Madison or Thomas Jefferson tried to overthrow the government so they could stay in power?” Their staying in power was not a goal of the Revolution, so that’s not really apropos. Both were succeeded as President in a hand off to their own Secretary of State, so the comparison Sharpton is drawing is not apropos either. Agree. Not at all analogous. But it did get Ramaswamy a smidgen of attention, which he desperately needs.

Here I disagree, because it was no handoff, a word that makes it sound like a king to his heir. Their Secretaries of State won their presidential elections and of course were among the greatest of our founding generation. Highly qualified, well-regarded, and recognized by their countrymen as such.

And right now, we need their wisdom more than ever. Too many idiots willing to throw it away recklessly so they can keep on grifting. Their contempt for our nation is stunning and their success to date, as with Pelosi, Biden, et al, speaks poorly of our populace and their critical thinking capacity.; 8/4/23, 9:19 AM
