"Could Trump face prison? 'Theoretically, yes and practically, no,' said Chuck Rosenberg, a former top federal prosecutor..."

"... and counsel to then-FBI Director James B. Comey. Rosenberg served briefly as head of the Drug Enforcement Administration in the Trump administration and notably said the president had 'condoned police misconduct' in remarking to officers in Long Island that they need not protect suspects’ heads when loading them into police vehicles. 'Any federal district judge ought to understand it raises enormous and unprecedented logistical issues,' Rosenberg said of the prospect Trump could be incarcerated. 'Probation, fines, community service and home confinement are all alternatives.'..."

From "If Trump is convicted, Secret Service protection may be obstacle to imprisonment/Donald Trump can keep Secret Service protection for life, even if he were to be convicted and sentenced to prison or home confinement" (WaPo).

"Mary McCord, who served as acting assistant attorney general for national security during President Barack Obama’s administration and led the department for the first several months under Trump, said Trump presents unique challenges to the Justice Department. Ensuring some penalty for a former president under Secret Service detail would require extensive discussions and potential accommodations, 'because it really would be a pretty enormous burden on our prison system to have to incarcerate Donald Trump.'"

The top comment over there:
Solitary confinement at a fed supermax and 2 agents outside the door… He’d be even safer than in Mar-a-lago, rally or motorcade and the agent expense would be much less. You’re welcome!!

1. Perfect.

2. I'd even be in favor of emptying an entire prison just to house Trump. Pick one of the smaller ones (if there are any), out in the middle of freaking nowhere. Park him in there, put SS somewhere in the vicinity, problem solved.

3. He can hold imaginary rallies in the prison yard, preaching to the converted raccoons and possums.

4. Alcatraz is currently unoccupied

5. Rudolf Hess' old room at Spandau might be available, too.

Solitary confinement for daring to speak. Liberalism is dead.

Shouldn't the democrats just go for the death penalty? SHOULDN'T THEY?

A prison term seems like the least of his worries.

He is, potentially, facing the the executioner.

Let that sink in.

Who does counsel Rosenberg blame for Comey's own copious "police misconduct"?

"Solitary confinement at a fed supermax"

Just to confirm that progs do like the carceral state after all. It's only a select subset of actual criminals they want to set free.

Better jail Trump before November 2024 because he'll be elected the farther down this path they go....

At worst, Trump is guilty only of having Abrams-Clinton Syndrome.

I think you’re missing the point, which is to overturn the 2016 election.

Given the full weight of evidence against Trump, if shouldn't really be necessary for the jury to retire to deliberate, should it? Or even to have a trial at all.

(The deadening effects of unrepented sin on the mind and heart are well documented in the scriptures, but who reads the scriptures these days?)

I do not look forward with anything but looming horror at the problems this country will face when a real Hitler-analogue shows up in presidential politics. And those commenters who blithely scream "Hitler" at Trump should realize that their ability to do so without ending up in a death camp indicates Trump was no Hitler. I suspect they do.

I don't want to share a country with these a$$holes. This is where the Trump hatred has taken us. Until he ran for President he was part of the swamp. But beating Hillary has released a crazy new level of crazy.

Ha ha! I like the comment about preaching rallies in the prison yard to raccoons and pigeons. ;-) Perfect.

Seriously though, Michael Cohen pointed out the practical problems of housing inmate Trump within the prison bartering system. He’d be willing to trade nuclear secrets to other inmates for a bag of tuna.

Some candidate the Republicons have bestowed upon America!

Do you think the people who are so zealously committed to the destruction of Donald Trump could possibly, in their zeal, tamper with voting machines or fabricate charges against him. Their hatred of Trump makes so called conspiracy theories credible. There is very definitely an observable conspiracy to put him in jail for vague offenses that even lawyers have trouble parsing....I suppose they would be willing to settle for making him pick up garbage along the highway provided he wore an orange jumpsuit and they could film him doing it. Jeffrey Toobin wouldn't be able to keep his hands to himself watching such a film.

Those commenters are really insane. They are no different than the Germans that blamed all of the Weimar excesses on all Jews. Reading them is truly frightening. They would lock Trump up for threatening their grift and lifestyles and then they would March the rest up of us into cattle cars.

home confinement are all alternatives.

A the old "house arrest" used so effectively in places like Sri Lanka and others for political opponents of the regimes.

Well, if Jeffrey Epstein revealed anything, it is that the federal bureau of prisons is not capable for providing for the safety of its inmates and doesn't even try.

There is nothing new about the left trying to imprison their political enemies. There are countless examples of this throughout history. It’s the natural progression of their philosophy.

rcocean said...

Center-right people are treating this as a joke. Its not. The Democrats and the liberal/left, including Biden, REALLY DO want to imprison Trump. They will put him in jail IF POSSIBLE. At the very least they will put him under longterm house confinement so he cannot speak or travel without a leftwing Democrat judges permission.

If you're willing to go along with this prosecution, just cancel the election. We can just make Biden POTUS till 2028. BTW, The Democrats the liberal/left who hate Trump and his supporters will hate any Republican challenger in 2028 too. Right now, given the Center-right's lack of response to abuse, the D's will be vetting the Republicans in 2028 and deciding who the R's will be allowed to be nominate.

But does anyone except me care? Guess not. Its interesting that in cuba 58, spain 36, Chile with Allende, Hungary 1919, Russia 1917, etc. its NEVER the center-right that stops a communist dictatorship. If the Commies lost, it was because an outside force stepped in. People on the center-right are gutless.

So, they're looking for an Elba Island solution, I presume. The first guy quoted, who still has his panties in a wad because joked they should not worry about the heads of drug dealers being put in a police car, is just such an example of what's wrong with our legal establishment.

Mary McCord? Isn’t she the one who oversaw the DOJ approval of Crossfire Hurricane, as well as the first two illegal FISA warrants on Trump campaign assistant Carter Page? Oh, and Jay Bratt, who is running the Trump classified document prosecution (who refused to allow Trump’s lawyers additional time to respond to his demands, then used their failure to comply quickly enough to justify the indictment of Trump that Bratt signed) is also the Counterintelligence and Export branch chief, who reports directly to her successor at that post, heading the DOJ NSD? I should add that the documents marked classified that the DOJ and FBI knew Trump had, and had ordered declassified, implicated her, among others, in the Crossfire Hurricane, Steele Dossier, and Carter Page FISA warrant application misfeasance and malfeasance by the DOJ and FBI. That Mary McCord?

Reading comment #3 from the WP comments made me think about Trump in prison. While he won't serve in prison is my prediction, if he did, and it was allowed, I bet he would like to address his fellow prisoners in some type of mass gathering. I bet he would get surprisingly positive reviews from fellow prisoners across all racial/ethnic groups. Trump is a showman and entertainer. In some ways, Trump is a combination of Walt Disney and Larry Flynt. And as I have theorized before, a bit of Jay Gatsby.

Cheers and stay cool.
