"Since the ruling, palpata breve - a brief groping - has become a trend on Instagram and TikTok in Italy, along with the #10secondi hashtag."

"Italians have posted videos looking at the camera in silence and touching their intimate parts for 10 seconds straight."

From "Italian uproar over judge's 10-second groping rule" (BBC)(judge ruled that there is no crime if a groping lasts less than 10 seconds).

Sorry, but that is complete bullshit. I understand incidental contact can happen, but the threshold is way below 10 seconds. I know that laws need to be as specific as possible, and "I know it when I see it" is crapola law, but there has to be common sense left somewhere. Oh well, glad my family is not in Italy....just another reason to stay away from Italy I guess.

Palpata Breve sounds like the Italian dubbed version of How I Met Your Mother.

Ten seconds is more than frottage. According to that judge in NYC who oversaw the Trump civil trial, a peck on the cheek, or I suppose the sniffing of one's hair, could be sexual assault, ir unwanted. Of course by definition, sexual attention from a powerful Democrat can never be "unwanted."

The people of Italy should avail themselves of 9 seconds of molesting this judges wife and children every chance they get.

Since it's now legal.

The thing we'll find out by this activism is ... how LONG is it legal?

I'm betting not very long. Before this judge gets put out of his own house by his own family and disowned by every female in it.

Incidentally, one of the first Mafia words I learned was "morte." It seems Italy needs a new lesson in Italian.

"Molestie di strada" (sidewalk groping and catcalling) is a venerable Italian practice. I think maybe the court was taking judicial notice of this?

Donald Trump will be moving to Italy.

High school dances in 1969 would have been different, anyway.

Someone tell Sean Ono Lennon that the Age of Miracles is over in Italy. Folks there are not only smashing but mashing each other.

The 66 year old "caretaker" (is that a janitor?) told the 17 year old girl that he was just joking. I think a really good joke, all in good fun between friends, would be to collect a bunch of piss in a bucket and dump it on his head. Hahahahahaha, we are having some fun now, yes?

If you didn't read the article, the man came up behind this girl as she stood on the stairs, reached into her pants and underpants, fondled her bare ass cheeks, and then yanked up on her underwear such that it caused pain to her "private parts." Just a beloved 66-year-old rapscallion of a school janitor, always making the little jokes.

In Milan in '78, I was shocked at how openly Italian patriarchs, out for an evening stroll with the clan, would ogle and size up my fair-haired, blue-eyed wife.

You'ld think they'd never seen a pretty American before.

For most of the history of mankind that would not have been considered a crime.

Try kissing someone for ten seconds. Ten seconds is a LONG time.

Careful now. If you insist they outlaw palpata breve (AKA "10-second rule") that will pretty much wipe out marital maintenance sex.

ha ha ha

in the South we got 10 seconds

we like to take a few seconds to reflect on it first

either that or it's so damn hot down here we just move slower, even with the AC

10 Second Rule Can Kill You.

That article is warning about bacteria, but I also think it would apply to angry women and/or angry boyfriends.

You could use that same theory on punishments

"Waterboard him for 10 seconds."

The targets of sexual attention have little real-world recourse beyond covering up and avoidance. This is why there are all kinds of laws intended to protect women male predation (ranging from Islamic veils to Title IX sports), even though these have uneven success and can be counterproductive.

Many men would LOVE to watch a long series of random women touch themselves for 10 seconds. Adult TikTok? Great!

Men welcomed bra-burning feminism too. You want the world to look at your bouncing boobs and erect nipples? Great!

Also if you google "10-second rule," it's amazing how many ways it's used!
