I'm reading "Aaron Rodgers Really Wants to Be Liked Again" (Intelligencer).
July 26, 2023
"[Aaron] Rodgers’s appearances out on the town are part of a well-orchestrated campaign by him and his PR apparatus. But..."
"... what’s telling is that he’s making the effort in the first place. After all: Wasn’t Rodgers supposed to be a dangerous, rebellious, edgelord truth-teller? This is the guy who smugly (infuriatingly, really) lied about being 'immunized' during the 2021 NFL season. The guy who thanked Joe Rogan for his 'COVID-treatment plan,' who seemed to imply that Joe Biden isn’t a legitimate president, who wore a shirt on Pat McAfee’s show with the words Cancel Culture crossed out ... who actually claimed... that the government was releasing videos of UFOs to distract from the 'Epstein Files.' Rodgers’s pandemic-era torching of his own reputation was so extreme that, at one point, State Farm, whom he has worked with since 2011, pulled his ads off the air.... And yet he has been a very different person since he got to New York. He is acting like… a guy who doesn’t want to get canceled?"

He could cure cancer as we know it and feed the homeless every night, but if he tanks on the field, Jets fans will hate him anyway.
And he could hang with Nick Fuentes, but if he leads the Jets to the Super Bowl, he'll be the toast of the town.
He is acting like… a guy who doesn’t want to get canceled?"
and yet.. EVERY THING he said turned out to be correct. No WONDER they insist on cancelling him!
Mind reading in the jellyfish pond.
Follow the money. Need more need be said?
Reputation only torched to non football watching democrats and "journalists".
OMG ! Did he really say FJB was "not a legitimate president ?" Cancel that sonofabitch !
Im sure a lot of "important" people faked the vaxx. Its who they are.
Talk about smug.
"the guy who smugly (infuriatingly, really) lied about being 'immunized' during the 2021 NFL season"
Of course, immmunizing healthy athletes made no difference whatsoever, so the mandates were the infuriating thing.
"wore a shirt on Pat McAfee’s show with the words Cancel Culture crossed out"
Canceling cancel culture--that's cause for cancelation right there.
"at one point, State Farm, whom he has worked with since 2011, pulled his ads off the air"
Cuz any good prog takes his cues from corporate weasels.
"And yet he has been a very different person since he got to New York. He is acting like… a guy who doesn’t want to get canceled?"
So this piece ackowledges that acting non-prog will get you canceled, correct? A sorta gaffe?
"Aaron Rodgers Really Wants to Be Liked Again"
Telling, isn't it, how progs assume that following their dictates is the condition for being "liked," and that, since they hold cultural power, they get to demand conformity.
I never knew about all these things listed by Will Leitch, but I must say, I like the cut of this Rodgers fellow's jib.
"a guy who wants to be like again." That's pathetic.
His amazing play gave me a lot of pleasure over the years. The New York press of course will portray him as a new man but he has always been nice to the fans and a breath of fresh air. I wish him the best and am keeping my fingers crossed about Jordan Love. Three hall of famer qbs in a row for the Pack. Why not?
The same PR job he did when he got to Green Bay.
Having zero moral core is helpful when one loves the limelight like Rodgers does.
Rodgers was right not to take the poison mRNA vaccine.
I give him credit for speaking out and resisting. Joe Biden was installed as President. The author of the article is the one who's nuts.
Wish I could root for Rodgers while he's on the Jets, but I can't root for anything New York.
Shit. I can't even root for the US Women's Soccer Team. Hope they lose.
He realizes that while his previous statements may have had some support in Wisconsin, such statements would make him an apostate in New York City. Another way of phrasing it is that it isn't a good idea to tee off those lefty Jet fans who pay your salary.
Reading the list of social crimes committed by Aaron Rodgers is great PR for him. Really a shirt that suggested cross out cancel culture? That’s great. Thanked somebody that offered an effective cure, good man.
If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere--New York, New York.
The entire article is a Kinsley gaffe, isn't it? We have been assured over and over that there is no cancellation culture on the Left, and yet this article takes it as a given.
So, the story is that he’s stopped telling the truth?
Rodgers is a weird guy but an excellent QB.
Colin Kaepernick is a weird guy and a mediocre QB.
Progressive Douchebags praise Colin and slam Aaron.
They don’t care about excellence. They don’t even understand it.
Quarterback in the NFL is a tough job. Community relations is part of the job. I hope he stays healthy and has a good season.
"Progressive fascism" not only describes the prevailing prog culture in America today, but also suggests the ongoing process that keeps it sliding to ever more extreme lengths. They just can't tolerate any dissent or prominent dissenter.
So, this Rogers guy sounds legit.
Having zero moral core is helpful when one loves the limelight like Rodgers does.
Only those who do not question leftist orthodoxy have a true moral core.
"They don’t care about excellence"
11 playoff runs, one Super Bowl win.
Rodgers is certainly excellent at choking in the playoffs.
When you're a Jet/ You're a Jet all the way
From your first Prog lie/ To your last PR play
Rodgers "lie" about being "immunized" was a statement that had some subjective, factual basis and a lot of careful word choices. Much less bad than the multitude who claimed to be vaccinated because they had taken a shot (or multiple shots) that did nothing to slow or stop the spread and did not keep one from getting covid. Do a piece on all of them trying not to get cancelled.
t
Mark is a fucking retard, routinely savaging people who actually do stuff. Mark obviously never competed in anything at a high level. He was too busy trying to blow the equipment boy.
Didn't he just take a pay cut and add a year?
That's a move Jets fans could appreciate. Hope he plays well.
