"Target said that customers knocked down Pride displays at some stores, angrily approached workers and posted threatening videos on social media from inside the stores."

"Target declined to specify Wednesday which items it was removing but among the ones that garnered the most attention were 'tuck friendly' women’s swimsuits that allow trans women who have not had gender-affirming operations to conceal their private parts.... Target’s Pride month collection has also been the subject of several misleading videos in recent weeks, with social media users falsely claiming the retailer is selling 'tuck-friendly' bathing suits designed for kids or in kids’ sizes...."

The internal link goes to the AP article "Target’s Pride collection features 'tuck-friendly' swimsuits for adults, not kids," which quotes a Target spokesperson as saying "The 'tuck-friendly' swim suits are for adults only." They may be aimed at adults, but if the sizing fits a younger person, there's no enforcing the concept "adults only."

They had children's versions of those.

But hey, maybe the young male children "identified" as adult women.

By now it should be crystal clear:

AB-Inbev is not in the business of selling beer.
Fox News is not in the business of selling audience share.
Dodgers are not in the business of selling ticket to baseball games.
Target is not in the business of selling merchandise.

All of these leviathans are not in the business of selling something tangible. They don't - in fact - sell anything...they are in the business of provoking you to accept their values and their version of their culture.

Burn. Them. To death.

At a Target in New York City's downtown Brooklyn neighborhood that the AP visited on Monday, the same adult swimsuits shown on social media featured the "tuck-friendly" tag, while a kids' black swimskirt for sale instead had a tag reading: "Thoughtfully Fit on Multiple Body Types and Gender Expressions."

Much of what passes for "Pride" celebration is overt promotion of 'abnormal' sexual practices. (I'm using the word 'abnormal' to mean something outside the norm, and as a statistical fact, heterosexual activity is the norm amongst humans. Normal and abnormal are not being used to be judgmental or morally prescriptive, just descriptive. LGBTQ+++ is abnormal in that sense.)

People are getting tired of having their children exposed to this sort of promotion, forcing them to explain to their kids things they'd probably rather not get into. So, naturally, after the umpteenth time having their noses rubbed in it, they react with anger. No big surprise there.

I don't feel any "pride" in being heterosexual; it's not exactly an accomplishment, or anything I've worked to achieve. I can't imagine parading around in celebration of that fact, or asking others to validate me for being that way. Just be who you are, and keep it to yourself and your intimate partner. Maintain your privacy, and respect the privacy of others by not imposing your views on them.

If everybody would just shut-the-fuck-up about their sex life, we could all get along a lot better! Don't ask, don't tell was actually pretty good advice for everyone, not just the military.

Then post the Video target. You have the most surveillance of any chain other than WalMart. I don't believe the "our employees are scared" bullshit. Your customers are scared to use the dick-optional restrooms from what I've heard. This why traditional mass market retailers have shied away from promoting* satanism and sexual obsessions. It just doesn't have a welcoming vibe for normal people. Like the stupid decision the Dodgers made. Why bring satanic hate-filled fake nuns on to poke your largely Hispanic and Catholic fan base? Why do it?

*Like Bud light they went out of their way to spend precious marketing dollars on promoting something that appeals to less than 1% of their customers, but turns off the rest. Not everyone is offended of course, but this is a very stupid way to run a mass consumer focused business. I'm confused by what they expected to GET out of this dumb shit they are doing.

The "Gay" Taliban is far more violent and regressive than any Christian Taliban in your fever dreams.

A major public organization (LA Dodgers) invited a group to perform that puts a loin-cloth clad male as a simulated Jesus on a wooden cross and then grinds on him with sex-simulating acts from drag performers.

No Christians are doing blackface performances, especially with offensive depictions of how shiftless and lazy the black folks are.

This latest outrage, well....they're being kind to themselves, aren't they? They've decided to pull merchandise and attack their clientele, all in one brilliant swoop. But the issue isn't mostly about gender-affirming, tuck-friendly women's swimsuits, is it? It was the version of tuck-friendly swimwear being marketed to toddlers and small children.

Inbev A-B found out that they can ignore reality, but they can't ignore the consequences of ignoring reality. Maybe Target will find out the same, who knows? I won't be going there anytime soon. The last time I was there, some years ago, there were more employees than shoppers.

A few years ago Target tweeted a welcome for men who want to be women to go ahead and use the women's rest rooms at Target. There was a pretty big backlash. Walmart had the same policy, but they did not advertise it or brag about it. Target took a pretty big hit to sales on that one, and Walmart benefitted. The President of Target said after that that he would personally have to review any tweets before they went out. The change in strategy helped, but Target ended up investing millions to spiff up many stores to get their customers back.

Those at the top remember that fiasco. That's why they hit the panic button. They know very well that they already went through a "Bud Light" experience and it cost them plenty. All this stuff about worried employees is nonsense--if they cared about their employees they would close their downtown Minneapolis store.

Seriously, how many tuckable swimsuits can be sold nationwide? Five? Ten? Meanwhile, they no longer carry shirts or pants in my size, the "men's" section is for teen boys, as far as I can tell.

Selling rainbow colored T-shirts is fine, but some of the other crap they put at the front of the store--well, it's just stupid.

Homosexuality is transgender (i.e. state or process of divergence from sex-correlated attributes). Homosexuality etc are not valid preferences, but they are tolerable. Trans/neogender etc. is also not a valid preference, is not tolerable for children, but as adults, men and women can choose their fate.

Rainbows, in the human context, are albinophobic, as well as anti-black, anti-brown symbolism and associated rhetoric.

The original groomers in schools, churches, scouts, and Hollywood were trans/homosexual males; but, as with all things progressive, their development has been monotonic with empathetic appeals backed by Democratic redistribution of bennies for dead babies, shared responsibility/progressive prices, medical, surgical, and psychiatric trials, [catastrophic] [anthropogenic] immigration reform, wars without borders, etc.

Political congruence ("=") is a construct adopted under diversity that is inequitable and exclusive (DIE). @Inga: Conservatives seem to be yearning for a Christian Taliban.

This is just so tedious and lazy. Do you actually have any reason why little children should be exposed to sexual propaganda from different interest groups whose purpose is to influence the moral/ethical

Leftists are very clear that religious material must be kept out of public schools and their libraries. But as true believers, from inside the heady movement to remake society in their image, they seem unable to achieve the detachment to perceive objectively the evolution of that movement into a de facto religion. The Left’s wokism has the character of a religion in supplying an ethical and moral framework to its adherents, including a teleology of “progress”, a thoroughly articulated soteriology dividing the world into sinners and saved, the morally perfect who will redeem the ruddy bulk of humanity, which is fallen, and a utopian eschatology. Thus the whole framework and its abstruse dogma functions exactly like a religion, with high priests, ritual, a theory of good works, and a plan to spread the good word, i.e., proselytize.

It’s so telling though that the Left is unable to characterize fairly the position of “conservatives” on this issue. The *only* argument—such as it is—I’ve heard from the Left on this is Godwin-adjacent screeching that conservatives are banning books just like the [insert historical bogeyman here]. As with other issues like illegal immigration, 2A rights, and abortion, there is zero effort to meet the opponents’ argument head on, fairly construed and properly elaborated. Instead it is all sloganeering, mantras, and straw men about banning books. But the last time I checked, it wasn’t conservatives banning actual literary classics like Huckleberry Finn or To Kill a Mockingbird from schools because they offend the Left’s religious sensibilities. And conservatives aren’t slapping trigger warnings on content for fragile, infantilized adults.

So Inga, let’s hear it: why do you think that interest groups should be able to place their propaganda, designed to familiarize abnormal (Im using that descriptively) sexual practices and paraphilias, into schools with young children? Conservatives generally believe that the family, religion, and voluntary community bonds should help form a child’s moral and ethical understanding, and that public school should not supplant that. And therefore these books are inappropriate, even above and beyond their graphic presentation of sex, which is completely inappropriate for young readers. So why do you think keeping those books out of schools, at a community’s discretion, is bad? Why do kindergartners need to read about transsexualism and the like?

I guess growing up on a farm makes it impossible for me to suspend belief in our brave new world. When I was a kid, a castrated stallion didn’t become a mare; it became a gelding. A castrated bull did not become a cow; it became a steer. We didn’t castrate roosters because no one could find their balls, but if we did, a rooster still couldn’t lay an egg. Cutting off the balls was just that and nothing more. And a non-castrated bull who “identified” as a cow was still a bull. It wasn’t rocket science or neurosurgery.

There is no magic brain ray that changes the truth about what sex a castrated animal is, and all my Darwinist friends assure me that people are just another kind of beast, except we drive Fords, have internet, and poop in a toilet instead of on the barn floor. Also, my Darwinist friends told me that it’s all about the survival of the fittest (which always seemed like a tautology to me, but I was one of those yeoman Jeffersonian farm boys), so anything with its balls cut off can’t produce offspring, so it’s not fit to survive. Any bull that only bred with other bulls wasn’t fit to survive. At some point, the ball-less and the bulls who try to breed other bulls will go extinct. Why is that something to be proud about?

For this old farm boy, I think we are living at a time of extinction level stupid.

I previously posted:

"I'm not sure it matched the rest of the t-shirts in the display and I wonder if someone pulled it from the sales area and put it where everyone could see it."

However, this morning's WSJ online had a picture of another display very similar to what I saw so it was most likely part of the nationwide strategy.

Target's problem is not a "Christian Taliban". It is the special protected class that is looting its stores.

@Godfather: “ ('tuck friendly' women’s swimsuits). I have said it here before: We should STOP calling men who "identify" as women "trans women". They are men, and could fairly be called "trans men", because they are men who choose to be regarded as a sex that they aren't, but they are not "women".”

How about “ersatz women” instead?

If you don't like Target's values or what it's selling, why not shop elsewhere!

You mean like this...

If you don't like Judge Duncan's politics or policies, why not go listen to somebody else's speech?

Rules for thee, but not for me.

If you don't like that baker's personal moral stance, why not get your wedding cake made at one of the many other bakeries in town?

That argument, that strategy, was rejected utterly by the left - and it would have been a hell of a lot easier to get a custom cake baked elsewhere than to supplant a nationwide discount chain. Why should the right (and the parents of any political stripe who don't think it's appropriate to trans the children) have to embrace it?

"The irony is there really can't be that much of a market for this stuff. I mean buying a sweatshirt with a rainbow on it is one thing, buying a woman's bathing suite with a tuck pocket in it is something else. What would make a company, like Target, buy inventory for such a limited market and put up the displays to sell it, knowing they'll aggravate some of their customer base? I would love to know the discussions that went on to accomplish this."

Read past this on my first sweep down the comments, and something tickled the back of my mind... What's the current rate of occurrence for actual LGBTWTFBBQ types in the population? Something south of 3% if you get really generous with the definitions, right?

Note all the propagandizing in the schools, and how some are now reporting up to 25% of the kids reporting feelings of gender dysphoria?

Connect the two facts, and consider the Target marketing, here: What if, just supposing... This was all marketing, to open up new markets for all their kitschy krap they sell? Everywhere? What if the trans thing were just marketing to gin up business for the surgeons and the gender clinics?

Nah. Couldn't possibly be... That'd be... Insane. Right? Right...?

We are. Thanks for the tip.

It's not difficult at all to go on Target's website and see for yourself how they're pushing gay and trans clothing options on children.

Target is an interesting brand name. Especially, when the target appears to be children.
