Things are going to get very interesting. Will DeSantis fight back against Trump, Uday and Qusay.

I actually kind of hope it makes people suspicious of every political ad/video they see. They should be.

The next 18 months are going to be like freebasing Hillary's family reserve adrenochrome while sitting through a root canal, and this year's not even half over.

"Boy did you pick the wrong year and half to give up drinkin'." - Voldkapundit (allegedly)

It's pretty funny. But yeah, on the next election we won't know if it's actually Biden or a rutabaga.

It's a poor and easily-recognized fake. I'm sure that the quality of these is going to dramatically improve as the season heats up. At the same time, I'm sure that the calls for 'more censorship' will also become louder and more ubiquitous, as this is a golden opportunity to advance those kinds of top-down control measures.

But people need to use their heads for more than a hat rack. Deception has been a component of human behavior since time immemorial, and visual stunts like these deep fakes are just an innovation. Political figures are not going to engage in skits to advance their campaigns. When we see Deep Fakes giving speeches, that's when there needs to be genuine concern and attention drawn to the problem.

Trying to legislate satire and deception is only going to make it more potent; there's no substitute for healthy skepticism and critical thought, and anyone that suggests censorship as a solution is just trying to encourage you not to think too hard - probably for a different reason.

Sadly - the same morons who thought Palin actually said "I can see Russian from my house" - will buy this.

I hope Ron can laugh about this, cause it's funny.

The democrat parodies would write themselves, but alas that vein will not be mined.

Sharing ≠ thinking it's real.

Isn't this essentially what the deep state did to Trump the last two elections, but without the deep fake video technology?

Half of America is functionally retarded. AOC and Biden and Fetterman are people's exhibit A. We're not heading towards idiocracy, we're there already. Their base is one tiktok video away from believing that plants crave Brawndo because the word "electrolyte" sounds poindexterish. Their urban core voter is intellectually only a few orders higher than a crab. They process information in binary signals that pulse 'eat, mate, sleep, orange man bad, work to abolish whiteness, etc.'.

You do not want to see what these people turn into when the edifice of the wool that's been pulled over their eyes is lifted. I've been to Iraq and I've seen what that looks like. It's like staring into the abyss.

At least he wasn't made fun of for being short.

Kamala started it all with posing as an African American. You know... the thing!

I think Reagan said (paraphrasing) the left believes so much that is not true.

Like the tax cuts are why the deficit is so high. Or hands up, don't shoot. Like Trump said the KKK were good people in Charlottesville.

So, yeah, crude as this "deep fake" was, there will be many on the left that will believe this crap. More and worse to follow.

Disappointing that the Trump team retweeted this. (I'd be interested if there was context that said it was a spoof.)

My thinking is Trump will poison the well so much that he can win the nomination but lose the election.

I can still tell it is a fake video but, damn, it is getting harder and harder with each passing month.

We just have to get used to being on the digital frontier. Maybe concentrate on the idea that leftys are "synchronized swimmers," wheeling and dipping in formation while the right is learning new stuff all the time. The left just listens for signals; the right is sipping drinks by the poolside or learning new dives or playing pool tag. The left is parading; the right is a ranger battalion. Etc.
In other words, we have to try to wake the sleepers to the fact the NYT is not their Pop-Pop's NYT. We don't want to lunge about combating each single lie they believe because they read it- where? Breathless with adoration, they cry in unison: "I read it in the NYT, in the hallowed treasure house of journalism. Disagree? You're a racist. Signed. Zeal of the Land, Busy."

PS Blogging for Dummies Commenter tip: Some bloggers post ironically, jokingly, trickily. So mean. How can we know what they are saying if they get away from the indicative mood?

Let that phrase sink in. Inga compares people whose politics she doesn't like to monsters who fed their fellow citizens into plastic shredders feet first.

You are a disgusting piece of shit. I mean, we all knew that. But I didn't think you could go that low. I was wrong.

Can you go any lower?

It’s a famous scene from a famous show. The only way someone could be fooled by it is if they’ve never seen so much as a youtube clip of The Office.

I saw legitimate video of DeSantis. His suits fit poorly. He needs a tailor.

r/unpopularopinion : People who may fall for the lie that Ron DeSantis starred in television sitcom 'The Office' should not be allowed to vote.

"I hope Ron can laugh about this, cause it's funny." I hope so, too, not because it's funny (not to me, anyway), but that's the best way to defuse it. DeSantis is the best chance to restore reasonable governance to the White House. I supported Trump, and I think it's pretty clear he underperformed (remember Covid-19?). Moreover, we've already had one Trump v. Biden election -- do we want to take a chance on the outcome of another one? And in order to elect an instant lame duck? We have a proven alternative. Let's look ahead.

I knew it was a fake when DeSantis showed the label and it didn’t say “Petite.”

Tim, Tim ,Tim. You silly man. How little you know the left. There are people who comment on this very blog who will go to their graves firm in the belief that Trump colluded with Russia. It isn't much of a stretch to think that a number of them will swallow this whole. They'll believe anything as long as the speaker is sufficiently pink. How do you think that eternally over the top Ethel Mermon wannabe, Chuck Schumer, keeps getting elected.

so what is the possibility that "women suit" is metaphor for DeSantis policy grab=bag out of MAGA pile?

Robert Cook said...

Who cares if Dis-Santa wears women's suits? The pertinent question is: Does he wear women's underwear?
