"I possibly cheated on my wife once. Alone in a room, a young woman reached out her hands and seductively groped mine..."

"... inviting me to engage and embrace her. I went with it. Twenty seconds later, I pulled back and ripped off my virtual reality gear. Around me, dozens of tech conference goers were waiting in line to try the same computer program an exhibitor was hosting. I warned colleagues in line this was no game. It created real emotions and challenged norms of partnership and sexuality. But does it really? And who benefits from this?"

Not “possibly”. Indubitably unfaithful.

Seems to me, cheating in VR is basically the same as cheating in a dream. It never really happened.

Probably a lot of men and women who've never been touched like that and probably never will be.

well, duh! That would be the people renting out that girl. It's ALWAYS the pimps that benefit

I'm dubious about this. It's the thoughts that count, not whether or not the thing creating those thoughts is real or not. Haven't people ever heard of "web widows"?

It really doesn't challenge any partnership and sexuality norms. If your wife, girlfriend, sidepiece or whatever would be psychologically and emotionally hurt by you engaging in that experience and preferring it over them, it's still cheating. My wife would grab a sledgehammer and annihilate the computer console if it began to compete with her for any of my affection. So no, it really doesn't. If you're with someone, you need to be conscious of keeping those feelings under control or pursuing opportunities if they have the potential to, unless you have permission.

Might as well get a divorce because his wife saw Magic Mike’s Last Dance.

Masturbation was the original "digisexuality."

VR sex won't be complete until the Orgasmatron is invented.

The ultimate "zipless fuck."

I feel like there are enough articles of this kind around that ai could write its own series of articles where a reporter is shocked by how “realistic” he finds the ai he’s engaging with.

So much earnestness. Does VR create real emotions, or do the users allow real emotions to surface? Maybe the author should ponder that.
I get a whiff of Heston and It's made out of People here.

In our declining republic.

It's OK to be a mob-crook puppet as president... as long as he works for The Party.

It's OK to shoplift

It's OK to steal cars

It's OK for ChatGPT to write fake articles and refer to those fake articles to create a lie about any non-leftist ... Including now- Johnathan Turley.

It's OK for The Party to take in as much dark money as possible, even illegal international funding.

Sex with AI? no problem. Just part of the decline.

Does 20 seconds of virtual reality count as cheating on your wife? What if his wife is a man? I think it would take at least 15 minutes to qualify as a Violation in that case. Unless that VR kissin and huggin is that good.

This reminds me of the old question about dreams. You know how luscious they can be. I forget, are those Violations too? Can you expunge your criminal record if you tell your spouse about the dream? Os is that insanity?

Why do I hear Rodney Dangerfield's voice, speaking in his signature cadence, saying that?

From the article: "Traditional couples may scour at all these new ways of tech-imbued intimacy."
I've never read or heard "scour" used in the way that I suspect it is intended. The most common defined meanings do not make sense.
Did the author intend the word "scoff"?
There is a meaning of "scour" in a bovine context that may be intended (diarrhea), but it was new to me.

From the article:
“ As long as it's legal and not harming anyone, people should be encouraged to find new ways of using innovation to satisfy themselves—and that includes much of what the world of technology can bring us.”

But maybe it is harmful for a human being to interact intimately with a machine instead of learning to interact intimately with another living person.

"Alone in a room, a young woman reached out her hands..." I have some bad news for you about that "young woman," dude.

More seriously, do they really think tech companies are anywhere near to developing a brain implant that lets people experience virtual reality as if it were real? At this point, Meta can't even make a headset that stays on your face.

Yes, the prerequisite to love is faith.

My wife says that if that young VR woman can get me to orgasm in 20 seconds just by seductively groping my VR hand, not only will she not consider that cheating but she'll buy that gear for me and encourage me to use it as often as my hand needs. Some women are just grandmasters at 4D sex.

Some people excuse pornography as pixels, denying the images... as atoms, denying the life... as a fetus, deeming the baby unworthy.

Some people excuse infidelity with electrons, rationalizing their religion, denying their conscience.
