If I ever have the opportunity to return to Madison (my one and only visit was summer of 2016 and thanks to Meade and MadisonMan for providing travel tips and info) I absolutely will leave my hubby asleep in his hotel bed and go to this spot at sunrise so I can experience on my own.
Acknowledging of course, that Meadehouse may be in NYC or Chicago or the Rockies at the time, but if I had a Bucket List for that area of our beautiful country, this would be on it.
"PROTEST! PROTEST! PROTEST! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" tweets Donald Trump for today, March 21, 2023, the day Trump said he would be arrested. What utter bullshit. As Emily Litella would say, "Never mind."

Althouse I am writing this just a little before 9pm your time in Madison, and by the time this comment gets posted on Wednesday morning, the deadline that was just imposed by the DC Circuit Court of Appeals in the matter of Trump attorney Evan Corcoran's grand jury appearance will have passed. It's a 6am (Eastern) deadline, following a midnight (tonight) deadline and the stuff in question is not yet clear but may be legally mind-blowing. It appears that there may be recordings of conversations between Corcoran that may be transcribed, and other documentary evidence that goes to the "crime-fraud exception" to attorney-client privilege.
All the litigators are scratching our heads and wondering if anybody has ever heard of a midnight ~ 6am briefing schedule; nobody has.
Whales AND Dolphins dying on the East Coast in record numbers....which "some experts" are denying that the sonar technology used by energy companies to map the ocean floor could be confusing the sea life, sending them towards the coast or out of their natural habitats.
Gary Saul Morson, writing on “Do Russians Worship War?” in the current issue of Commentary:
"Americans all too often presume that everyone else aspires to live and think as we do. Others must share our values, if only in secret, or at least be eager to learn them. This is a dangerous attitude to take with any nation or culture, but perhaps especially so with Russians—and never more so than when the topic is war. Russians simply do not think about war in the way Americans do. .....
Also clear is his confidence that Russia can outlast its foes and that Western powers will tire of paying for a war before Russians tire of dying in it." (Via Power Line)
Paragraph one confirms why the US forays into middle eastern nation building was a resounding failure. We'll see how paragraph two plays out, but I suspect the writer is correct there also.
"I’ve been on an emotional roller coaster today. This is the third time we’ve had perpetrators of a racially motivated incident identified as African-Americans," Sacramento attorney Mark Harris — contracted last year by the district as a diversity, equity, and inclusion monitor — told the Bee. "It’s pretty bad when our kids, for whatever reason, think that it would be popular for them to have a negative depiction of our own.”
"As economist Walter E. Williams* informed in 2020, if "one totaled up the earnings and spending of Black Americans and considered us as a separate nation with our own gross domestic product, we would rank well within the top 20 richest nations." Williams also added that "as a group, Black Americans have made the greatest gains ... in a shorter span of time than any other racial group in history."
I haven't seen the Morson article yet, but I'm skeptical of speculation about "the Russians" and war. How different are post-1991 Russians from other people in the developed world? How different is their thinking from ours? There is a feeling that the country has been betrayed or disgraced, but does that translate into a desire for war? And what conclusions would an outsider looking at America's wars come to about Americans' attitude toward war?
