"A head teacher has apologised after replacing all the mirrors in a girls’ lavatory with motivational posters urging them to stop wearing make-up...."

"A picture shared online showed one that read: 'If all girls started wearing no make-up and comfortable clothes, guys would have no choice but to fall for girls because of natural beauty.' Others say 'Beauty is nothing without brains' and 'Dear girls, make-up is a harmful drug. Once you start using it, you’ll feel ugly without it'.... Neil Morris, the head teacher, [said t]he mirrors had been removed... to stop the lavatories becoming a 'congregational social area'.... 'The English department had used this as an opportunity to provide some argumentative discursive letter-writing,' he added. 'They put up some provocative posters.... This has produced some frenzied, powerful writing and debate. With hindsight, the posters should have been placed in the classroom area, not in one toilet.'"

Wasn't 'Head Teacher' a double-bill with 'Deep Throat' back in the day?

Lesbians strike again. No makeup, no boys (except trannies)

S/he's not wrong

I've always been amazed that women allow oreven encourage this nonsense to be foisted on them.

Usually by gay men who have no interest whatsoever in female beauty. Wife and daughter sometimes watch these fashion design shows. The designers always seem like they are playing some sick prank on women.

This seems, Pretty CRUEL to those girls WITHOUT much natural beauty.

But, it DOES give gilbar a chance, to say; Yet Again.
Women process things Verbally, through Words..
Men process things Visually, through Images...
This is WHY;
Men Lie, and Women wear Makeup

Imagine gym coaches telling boys they should wear comfortable shorts.

Removing mirrors causes 3.5 years of bad luck

Sooooo... What, exactly, are we to do about the girls who lack "natural beauty"? Not everyone looks good, so the mindset that doing away with makeup is somehow going to result in a different outcome is ludicrous.

Hell, TBH, about all makeup is about is leveling the playing field in the game of female competition. If you left it up to Mother Nature, an awful lot of girls with poor complexions and unfortunate facial features would be getting sidelined just the way they sideline girls who can't put themselves together, these days.

Geography teacher Christopher Elliott was found guilty on 3 June 2011 of "unprofessional conduct" at Christopher Whitehead Language College in Worcester where he worked for nine years for "mocking disabled children and throwing chairs at students". On one occasion, it is said he "mocked one child who suffered from a condition that left him shorter than his fellow pupils" by kneeling on the floor next to the student and saying: "'Is this what it is like being you?'"

I couldn't read the article without subscribing, so I looked up the school to see if it was co-ed. My thought was that they could have gotten away with taking down mirrors (but maybe without the motivational posters) if they had done it in a boys' restroom too. Now I'm thinking that they just like to bully students and this is a way they can do it with some deniability.

Queer eye for the feminine female. Gender reductive ideology. A Pro-Choice ethical religion to deny dignity and agency. A mass psychosis propagated through class-disordered ideology. Progress.

That's horrible. One of the worst things you can do is tell people that appearance doesn't matter. Being well dressed, with proper makeup, is something that every woman has control over. And even if she isn't a natural beauty, proper dress and makeup can generally bring her up to about average, which is enough that appearance matters less and her other attributes, such as intelligence and personality, have influence.

I remember reading or hearing something like this a good ten years ago. Fashion is run by gay men, who do not automatically have straight women's interests at heart.

With apologies to all gay men who are pro straight women.

The posters should have been placed in the toilet, which should then have been flushed.

Seems like this will cut down on the trans numbers pretty dramatically.

Queer eye for the feminine female. Girls with young, masculine attributes in therapeutic parade. Gender grooming to tip a coming of age masculine male in schools, in churches, in Boy Scouts, in libraries, in modern families. We live in [ancient] historical times. Human rites performed, for, among other things, fair weather progress, too.

Why in the world would he apologize? He tried something, he decided it didn’t get the result he wanted, so he stopped doing it. Move on.

The suggestion to put the posters in a classroom seems just as poorly thought out as the apology. Covering the mirrors where women do most of their primping wasn’t incidental. Symbolically, it was a key part of the installation.

If makeup is outlawed, only outlaws will wear makeup.

And the bad girls will get the guys. We're easy marks.

How are they supposed to check for a bit of mustard, boogers, that new pimple? Anyway, when to wear or not wear make-up is btw daughters and parents - unless it's a school rule and not some ad hoc crock.

A comedy Club in MA had a problem turning over the room due to a logjam in the ladies loo. They removed the mirrors. Problem solved. No posters tho.

Re "The designers always seem like they are playing some sick prank on women."

The really extreme things that people not in the fashion industry (and some in the fashion industry) laugh at, that look unwearable, in many cases are, in fact, unwearable off the runway, and are not intended to be sold nor worn on the street. They are to show the virtuosity of the designer, so buyers will buy their more conventional garments.

Though makeup may be a slight mitigating factor, attraction ultimately is not negotiable.

You can't argue with an erection. Or a lack of one.

Did the teacher admonish the boys not to wear makeup, too?

Does it occur to these meddling do-gooders that girls like makeup? Putting it on, experimenting with different looks, wearing it ... it's fun. It's creative expression of personal style and a healthy effort to put one's best foot forward.

Would they tell people of other cultures not to wear ceremonial embellishment because the same results can ostensibly be had without it?

Makeup can make people look hideous, too. It's not about the makeup.

Heh. This wouldn't have flown in the 80s - the decade of serious makeup and big hair. The air in every girls' school washroom was thick with excess Aqua-Net. Oh, and cigarette smoke.
