I was at my workout this morning, and I had an epiphany.

People hate Trump because of his volume.

He can be very loud when he speaks.

It can be very effective to modulate your voice, like Obama.

Calm people love Obama because he modulates his voice and it's very calm and flat and boring. They may or may not be listening hard to what he's saying. They just love his calm voice. "He's so calm. I love how calm he is. I'm voting for this very calm man."

Trump infuriates people because he's so LOUD! I'M A LOUD MOTHERFUCKER AND MY CAPS ARE LOCKED AND YOU CAN'T STAND IT I'M SHOUTING SO LOUD IT FUCKING MAKES YOU INSANE AND EVERYBODY'S SHOUTING BACK AND WE'RE SO LOUD AND IT'S DRIVING PEOPLE CRAZY WITH HOW FUCKING LOUD HE IS.

obama wins the nobel peace prize because he's so calm and boring and flat and you can barely listen i'm falling asleep trying to listen to him it's so calm i can't even cuss anymore too sleepy to cuss it's ridiculous how bored i am everything is quiet and peaceful nothing bad can happen because he is so quiet and calm and boy this is a silly way to vote i hope this isn't true i hope carmichael's revelation didn't come from god i hope he's just making this shit up because it's kind of scary to think that calm voices get elected and loud voices get defeated almost like style matters more than substance to a lot of people

"Moderation in all things" is such an absolutist philosophy.

I got to be moderate in all things?

hey, let's do infanticide on Thursdays, just 1% of humanity, we'll do a lottery, maybe murder 100 newborns at random. That's total moderation on the infanticide spectrum! Very moderate.

Fridays, we'll do a little slavery in the Walmart parking lot. Only on Fridays. And just in Houston. Slavery in the Walmart parking lot in Houston on Friday. It's very, very, very limited slavery. Total moderation on the slavery. Murder? Well, I guess. That's a little harsh. I don't know if you should murder people on Slavery Day. Most of us just rape 'em. I guess we'll have to let you murder, on Slavery Day. You're a fucking psycho! I wish you would be moderate like us, and just rape people on Slavery Day. You know what you are? You're a fucking extremist!

oh yeah, you can only rape Asians on slavery day.

Super moderation!

I don't get it. What are we looking at here? 4th Avenue, where?

I would vote for Michelle Obama over any of these asshats running against Trump in the Republican primary. My assumption would be that Barrack was actually running things. We dodged a bullet when he beat John McCain. Then Biden got installed to prosecute the war McCain started.

Remember when McCain pushed that "dossier" that the Clinton campaign had fabricated, in an effort to get Hillary elected? That's your GOP establishment, backstabbing traitors to America.

I got one more and I got to go to bed.

What never works (at least for me) is trying to win the whole fucking war when I argue about abortion.

Just try to win one tiny little battle, one skirmish.

At my work-out, the second guy to show up was a doctor. I asked him if he minded a personal question. He said no. (We're not really friends but he's not a bad guy). I asked him if he's pro-life or pro-choice. He said he was pro-choice.

I asked him what he thought about abortion doctors violating the Hippocratic Oath.

We battled that around for a little bit, and he tried to change the subject to a woman's right to choose. And after he had several sentences about that, and I realized he had changed the subject, I reminded him that we were talking about doctors. He's a doctor. He's not a woman. I might have said, "Doctors have a right to choose, too." Let's keep the focus on doctors. Do you think doctors are violating their Hippocratic Oath when they do elective abortions?

It was only a 10 minute discussion or so. I think I planted several seeds. I didn't try to win the whole abortion fight in one parking lot discussion. I just picked a battle and fought that tiny little skirmish. He's a smart man (actually a very arrogant man, more arrogant than me, and I'm pretty damn confident sometimes), but I think I rattled him a little bit. I could tell. It didn't get heated, it wasn't an argument. Just a calm discussion. But he got more worked up than I did, which was unreal. That might be a first for me! Anyway, I'm still learning tactics (obviously). I got a lot to learn in life.

Greta Thurnberg has a MasterClass.

I think I asked for a MasterClass subscription for Christmas one year, which my cheap Scottish family did not give me. Thank God for that! How embarrassing would it be to pay for a class and then find out that a child is your instructor!

I know Jesus said listen to the children but some of you liberals seriously need to go to Bible study. Or watch that Star Trek episode again with the fascist monster kids who want to murder Captain Kirk, oh shit!

If in NYC there is no 4 th Ave. Lexington serves. There is a 4th street that runs by Washington Square which is Dylan central. Mystery. And Althouse went in an airplane. Clearly kidnapped.

Well, Trump's braying helps him convey clearly the lies, insults, boasts, and other stupid shit he says, so, in that sense, your "epiphany" may have some validity.

I think the stories of using "sensitivity readers" to edit Roald Dahl's books are disturbing. So disturbing that I may cancel my Netflix membership because Netflix owns the rights to his work.

@Freeman, I hadn't heard of that. LOVED James and the Giant Peach when I was growing up. It seems like someone wants to generate a market for the used original books.

For libertarians and "lone wolfs" and people like that...

I would strongly suggest not trying to win a girl's heart in isolation

Make friends with some of her friends

they will come in handy when she starts playing games or acting strange or whatever problem comes up (it's always something)

Don't play the game 1 on 1. I'm discovering that winning her heart is more a team sport. Maybe make friends with her brother or sister if she has siblings.

1 on 1 works fine (I think) if you jump to sexual intimacy quickly. You can develop relationship intimacy at leisure because she's given up her power to you early. (I'd avoid this frankly because it will make you mean and you will destroy the relationship).

Anyway, I'm doing pretty well with both my Millennials. I'm more optimistic than I was several months ago. I pulled a "Donald Trump" move which was quirky and dangerous but it turned out to be a strong move.

A high school friend went to Parsons and lived in that neighborhood. He used to see Warhol a lot. I spent a few weeks there in the Summer going to The Palladium, CBGB and the other mandatory haunts for suburban white boys in the 80s. It wore me out...

...I've spent lots of $$$ at ABC over the years but that's about it for that part of New York...

Narciso, if you haven't figured out that Tim is also an America hating troll, you need to look closer at the propaganda he spouts.
