NY mayor Eric Adams traveled to El Paso to say there's there is "no room in New York” for migrants who come across the border.

Reuters reports.

Eric Adams, a Democrat, was also critical of the administration of Democratic U.S. President Joe Biden, saying “now is the time for the national government to do its job” about the immigrant crisis at America’s southern border.

Now?????? A bit late to the party, aren't you?

We know the establishment won't listen to the Right, so we've all been hoping someone on the Left would speak up. Maybe something will finally get done.

Either that, or Adams is running for POTUS.

How quickly his tune changed! Is New York still a sanctuary city?

Easy enough, rezone those vacant commercial skyscrapers to housing. Even easier would be to vote out the status quo that gave us this immigration mess.

And what job would that be, Eric?? Joe is giving everyone in the world access to an new app to download, called CBP One, where any person can make an appointment for their illegal entry into the US at a border crossing of their choice. No sneaking across required.I don't seem to recall Congress passing a law for this, do you? But, drunk on power and what they have gotten away with so far, I guess Joe and company don't feel the need to abide by laws any more.

What’s he talking about?

The border is secure.

The Democrat party needs more illegal aliens to retain power. A few years back, the chairwoman of the Nebraska Dems prepared a welcome basket for illegals. It included a voting application.

Huh. Who'd have thunk it. I guess those buses are starting to pay off.

So much for sanctuary cities...

What a big-hearted guy. But here he seems lacking in vision: these are his voters! Can he afford to turn them away?

Drip. Drip. Drip.

Who will be the beneficiary of this effort? Watch this (NYT) space. We'll spin it out when we think you're ready for it. This is just preparing the ground for your new and improved President.

Biden invited "Asylum seekers" in by the millions.

Asylum isn't "I ant a better life" - it's - escaped death and persecution. It should be used rarely.

I confess that I seldom click through to the whole article here on Althouse, instead counting on our host to excerpt the salient parts for us (thank you, Professor). But here I did, to find out whether Adams said what the government's job is with respect to immigration.

It's super short, very uninformative, and of course spins the story so that evil Republican politicians are sending "migrants" to hapless Democrat-run cities rather than to cities that have made public declarations that they are sanctuaries for "migrants." And it elides, effortlessly, the ludicrousness of the mayor of NYC telling the people of El Paso that New York is all full up and just can't take in any more of these "migrants."

Side note: it's been "migrants" instead of "immigrants" (much less "illegal immigrants") for a while now. Does anyone know the root of that change? Is it to erase the conceit that they may be coming to the United States with the object of seeking citizenship - in-migrating - rather than just coming in with no expectation that they'll even try to become assimilated?

Heh Mountainman, heard a few minutes of Joe Scarborough (Who may or may not have murdered a girl in his congressional office just before leaving). He was absolutely sneering at the far right mid people regarding the whole gas stove thing. His point was some beauracrat had just said something and the dumb far right people took the bait. Now Scarborough was indeed in congress…as a Republican and I’m sure there is a quote some where of him decrying beauracrats making rules that never face congress. Then the hyenas piled on, on just how stupid the mud people are. As disgusting and dishonest a few minutes as I have heard lately. Did I mention that Scarborough may or may not have murdered a pretty female office member just before leaving congress?

Except that for progs the job is to promote the invasion.

Like anything else in the prog universe, migrants are tools--first and foremost, to crush the domestic enemy and the national culture.

Nice sanctuary city you got there, Eric. It would be a shame if anything happened to it.

If there's no room in NYC then why would anyone think there's room in El Paso?

All Local news (D) here report that Denver's migrant surge is lessening.

hundreds of migrants housed in local gyms and rec centers... are emptying out. No one in media mentioning where the "migrants" are going.

The point to the border "crisis" is to fan the immigrants out throughout Texas, AZ and fly them to other rural areas to turn them permanently blue once amnesty is granted and voting rights.

They don't need Democrat voters in blue metropolitan areas. That's why there really isn't "any room" for them in NYC, DC, Chicago, etc....

Send a couple dozen busses to Dane County/Madison WI and see if they pull a Martha's Vineyard.

Looking up the biblical verse enumeration, i came upon the google quote:

No Room at the Inn Luke 2:1-7. It is a scene that is unmistakable. This scene is so identified with the birth of our Lord, that is has been banned from display in public places because it might offend those who do not believe it ever happened.

The irony is unmistakable.

More buses to New York, please!!! And popcorn.

As of last summer New York City lost 339,000 residents measured from the start of the Pandemic. So there’s room for at least that many refugees.

New York city is a sanctuary city, and AS such, they should take as many as Texas can send up there. Same for New Jersey which declared itself a sanctuary state. (I live there). Let the outspoken Democrats who WANT open borders deal with the invasion that Joe Biden caused. WHY should everyone else take care of their problem?? Easy solution?? Close the border and send them all home to come here legally or not at all. PERIOD. WHY should people doing it the RIGHT way have to come after the invaders who the left are letting in??

His Honor the Mayor says “now is the time for the national government to do its job” about the immigrant crisis at America’s southern border.

What's interesting is what he does not say - that the wide-open borders are a disaster for this country and the border needs (needed) to be closed now. No, just that someone else needs "to do their job".

I trust the people of El Paso told him to GFH.

"NIMBY" Adams should be his nickname.

Eric Adams disappoints yet again.

The Democrats have become the more disciplined and regimented party, so no way was Adams going to directly take on Biden. If, as the Democrats claim, they are really choice of a majority of the country, shouldn't they be comfortable enough to allow for internal dissent?

Rabel said...

There are just too many of them. Millions, literally.

They have to go somewhere and we have no place to put them.

The answer is obvious- the government should build camps where we can concentrate these migrant populations.

I understand that solution has been effective in the past.

Send Mayor Adams another 10,000 migrants, quickly!

NYC is NOT "full up". It can easily take another million or two "Migrants". Adams just isn't as smart as those Power Elite's who vacation/live in "Martha's Vineyard" - they called out to Massachutes National Guard and filed a federal lawsuit. And those Power Elites will continue to support massive illegal immigration. And if you call them "Hypocrites" they will laugh in your face.

Sorry, all your "Gosh, gee whiz, that's not right" or "I owned those libs by showing them to be two-faced hypocrites" accomplishes nothing. They DO. NOT. CARE. Nor do they care about your "Wry comments".

The only way to change things is to get power, and use it. Of course, if you want to sit back like H.L. Mencken & let loose with zingers and have a good laugh - well, go for it. Mencken LOST. Almost everything he wanted small Government, isolationism, low taxes, highbrow literature - LOST.

"New York City voted 78% for Joe Biden in the 2020 election."

New York City voted 78% against Donald Trump in the 2020 election. New Yorkers know Donald Trump. (There may be a subset of that cohort who voted for Biden, but I would guess it to be a small subset. I mean, really...how many people could really see Joe Biden as an attractive candidate on his own merits?)

The mayor wishes to inflict pain and suffering upon others through open immigration, showing his great virtue, as long as it does not inconvenience him in any way. His solution is to immune himself while continuing to cause suffering to people he doesn't care about. He is a terrible person.

Life is easier when you stop assuming that someone has good intentions. Anyone in his position should know better. He's either being intentionally cruel or willfully ignorant, both of which are detestable.

That's why people voted for the unknown variable, Trump. That's why people do not vote for the alternative, when the benefits are perceived as good, but the principles are impoverished.

Yeah, well, on the question of the border Trump had pretty much shut the invasion down, so your point is a distinction without a difference. New York City voted for this.
