High winds today due to that low off the California coast. The power just went off, but our generator came on automatically. Love that Generac generator! We have a full 500-gallon propane tank, so we're all set.

McCarthy easily got the hat trick at the three straight losses level. He's now aiming for the Harold Stassen Award which he'll tie at nine. At ten straight losses McCarthy will be in a league of his own.

Next up, qualifying for the Rocky Balboa Going-the-Distance Award at fifteen.

I mean seriously, McCarthy lives with Frank Fucking Luntz or all people.

There can be none more swampy.

He either needs to sign a contract of conservative items in blood or step down...

"You can talk forever". LOL!

Been going back and watching the old Dick van Dyke shows while "Working". Amazing stuff. Incredible that such two attractive actors: Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore spent five years doing a TV show. Never happen today. Show needed more of them dancing and singing.

As for the writing and supporting cast. Sometimes good, sometimes not. Like most of 60s TV, they churned out a ton of episodes. Probably 1/3 are just OK, 1/3 very good, 1/3 very bad. Limited by strict production code, so a certain blandness. But also a lack of creepiness and vulgar smut. A certain cleverness required. Laughs couldn't be generated by the son saying a swear word, or Van Dyke making a sex joke.

This will probably not see the light of day until well after the light of day, but before I forget:

Even if the terms right- and left-wing have some utility and are unavoidable, the original conception was by analogy to the wings of armies, who are not supposed to oppose each other as enemies but work together to win battles.

My father, had he lived, would be 100 today. Hard to imagine.

Is he henpecked? His wife says no.

The NFL has canceled the suspended Bills - Bengals game altogether. Thus, with the Bills and Bengals having played one less game than everyone else, the overall winning percentage would be used to determine playoff seeding.

So here’s how things will play out. If the Chiefs win their game Saturday night in Las Vegas, they would improve to 14-3 and would lock up the AFC No. 1 seed (and home-field advantage for as long as they remain in the playoffs) because the best the Bills could do if they beat the Patriots Sunday, is 13-3. However, that would still give them the No. 2 seed over the Bengals who already have four losses. A Raiders win puts Buffalo in the #1 slot if they beat New England.

In Cincinnati, the Bengals 11-4 will play Baltimore 10-6 for what could have decided the AFC North Title but will not change the playoff seedings even if the Ravens win.

I am beyond disgusted. The battle for the heart and soul of this country is won and lost in the non-partisan middle that is not obsessed with politics. They want normal. They want competence. They want common sense. The woke Democrats have opened a huge opportunity for the Republicans to show they are the normal ones. But instead they have decided to go full crazy. Never go full crazy. I think I'm on their side but they have completely lost me. Idiots.

Watch the video. Slow it down if you have to. I watched it at 1/4 speed, and Damar Hamlin was not struck in the chest. He rolls out of the tackle with incidental contact under his arm.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1Z9Vd53yhI

It's also a little suspicious that the media and NFL do not want the video seen. At all. Don't watch it!

Rt41Rebel said...

Oh, isn't that tricky! The video I posted has been changed from the reverse angle I saw earlier! Nothing to see here.

I’ve identified as republican my entire political life. But over the past ten or so years I’ve realized that the only thing the R party can get done is muh tax cuts. Tax cuts are fine as long as they accompany smaller government. But the republicans never shrunk the government, indeed they grew it when they let the neocons in the driver’s seat. I’m done with it all. The government of the two party system is broken beyond repair.

9:47 that's brilliant stuff

like "loyal opposition"

we need some "loyal opposition" in this country

we're missing that, we've got mean evil fuckers and no loyal opposition

if you can't find nice things to say about people in the opposite party

I hate to tell you

When I was an Assistant D.A. in Salisbury North Carolina

my boss, the D.A. warned us all to do no media interviews with the Salisbury reporter, say nothing to the Salisbury reporter, he would handle all the media requests

so that scared me a little

Simultaneously, I had an opportunity to write a pro-life Op-Ed in the Charlotte Observer

"loyal opposition" back then

I jumped on it!

Wrote an article about our death statutes and we have unanimous agreement in all 50 states in regard to when people die

total brain death

brain activity starts 6 weeks after conception

it's a homicide after that

under our death statutes

I think I used the word "holocaust" which was probably a little scary and dramatic

anyway the newspaper printed my Op-Ed

and apparently it caused some stress in my courthouse

And it is even worse when you have TERRIBLE things to say about people IN your own party, like Neo con Dan Crenshaw did a few times now. Terrorists and enemies?? Good to know. I am an independent who agrees with the Freedom Caucus. Great to know the party I have been voting for hates me as much as the other. Now I sit back and watch the country implode. I'm old. I don't care anymore. Let it fall.

Even if McCarthy prevails he'll be a castrated gelding for the next 2 years. He presumptively and prematurely moved into the Speaker's office, so his self-entitled image can't be undone. This follows several years of making Republican enemies...as DC is indeed a swamp... If elected Speaker, McCarthy faces similar revolts with every single House vote because the Republicans have only 222 seats.

Pelosi-Biden-Schumer have been held hostage by the Squad and CBC since Trump arrived too.

The only way out is if many Rs and many Ds to break for the middle and put their fringe politicians on the fringes. That movement had been brewing for years, but then Trumpmania and the backlash happened.

McCarthy does nothing for me.

But who exactly is his opposition?

What, exactly, can this mystery being accomplish with the thin majority?

The facts are, Republicans can not move a single thing forward, and only serve as a brake on leftist lunacy. The Republican speaker is of little relevance.

“For years, conservatives across the nation have asked for leaders in Washington who would fight for them against the establishment, and we now have 20 courageous House conservatives who have answered the call,” DeMint stated. “It’s time for the Republican leadership to start working with conservatives instead of trying to silence them.”"

"The base had high expectations in 2022, Then, the GOP members they did manage to elect voted to keep the wildly unpopular Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) as Senate Republican Leader. Then, with a RealClearPolitics average favorability rating of -33%, McConnell turned around and betrayed Republican voters by helping Democrats pass a $1.7 trillion Omnibus package along with 17 of his colleagues.
“Ultimately, we need to stop playing Washington’s game by Washington’s rules. If Americans want to fix our broken government, we need to force change in the leadership of organizations who failed to deliver results, support grassroots organizations doing real work on the ground, and reign in the power of D.C. with an Article V Convention of States,” "

If THIS asshole is a Republican, then I want NO PART of a party that let's him talk to his own side like this. HE is the problem and the more he spews his hate, the less likely it is that I will vote, especially for a party that has members who feel the way he does about Americans fed up with what DC has done.

While there is no explicit right to file a civil lawsuit against federal government officials who have violated the Fourth Amendment, this right can be inferred. This is because a constitutional protection would not be meaningful if there were no way to seek a remedy for a violation of it.

Here's a criminal "fact pattern"

Some Psycho shoots an innocent Man, almost killing him.

The poor guy's in the hospital, he's pretty much dead. No brain activity, but his heart is still beating.

You know how doctors are always trying to "push the boundaries of medicine" and shit like that?

("What if I castrate a boy and put a vagina on him? Let's try it and see what happens!")

Anyway, some crazy doctor (let's call him Dr. House) gets the idea of taking the beating heart out of the brain-dead guy and putting that beating heart into the body of somebody who needs a heart.

After that operation, the first guy is not just dead, he's dead-dead (brain's not working, and now he doesn't have a heart, either). But somebody else gets a new heart and survives!

Pope John Paul 2 (you know, the "right wing one") specifically said that donating your heart was consistent with Christ. He validated the brain death theory).

Anyway, now we move to the criminal case of the psycho who shot the first guy. We'll call him Psycho. Now, Psycho has a smart guy representing him, an evil defense lawyer who's trying to get him off. (Let's all take a moment and boo the evil defense lawyer). And this diabolical dude, we'll call him Flea, has an idea.

What if Dr. House killed that poor fellow when he took out his heart!

oh shit!

that means Psycho is innocent!

sweet

You can imagine how the family of the first guy felt about this shit. ("What do you mean, we killed him when we allowed his heart to be transplanted? What do you mean, you didn't kill him, you fucking Psycho?")

So Flea tries to argue that the brain dead guy was "alive" because his heart was still beating. The judge threw down the hammer. We'll call the judge, I don't know, Hugo Black. And Hugo Black throws down the hammer. "You killed him when you shot him, you dumb son of a bitch. Brain death is the rule in our state!"

(Technically he made that shit up, but people were so mad at Psycho and Flea that nobody gave a shit). So Dr. House was free to continue to expand doctor autonomy, stabbing babies and castrating small boys.

Where was I?

Oh yeah. It would be nice if somebody in the federal government would standardize the death rules in all 50 states with the total brain death theory. That might help clarify when abortion kills a baby. Because, as I mentioned before, it would be nice to take infanticide off the table.

(Also it would be nice if the pro-life movement noticed that it doesn't really give a shit about doctors transplanting hearts. And it would be nice if all of humanity would realize that if you have biological criteria in regard to when people die, maybe that criteria is relevant in other fucking contexts).

Jack Reacher calls this "lateral thinking." I've been amazed at how some people think death statutes only apply to people in comas, and never to unborn children. Maybe we should apply death statutes in any situation where people are worried about infanticide and shit like that. Just saying.

You'd think one motherfucker would mention that we actually have rules in regard to when people die.

What a shock!

Maybe tell people about our own laws!

Maybe educate the American people!

Meanwhile, the media still hides the bodies in a vain hope that we can kill more babies than Europe does.

Can somebody please wake up the corpse that is occupying the Oval office?? How out of touch are they keeping him??

Biden: "It's not like people are sitting around a table somewhere in Central America saying 'I got a great idea. Let's sell everything we have. Let's give it to a Coyote or smuggler. They'll take us on a harrowing journey. Then we're gonna illegally cross the border."

I have an idea. Let's keep crying about the speaker of the house, and not the delusional leader of the free world that still thinks it is 1953.

McCarthy is on the way to losing the most votes since the Civil War for Speaker, pathetic. Democrats had the same majority the Republicans have now and passed the American Rescue Plan, upgraded infrastructure partisan, reformed gun law first in forever, funded Veteran care, brought manufacturing jobs back, lowered health care costs, $35.00 insulin for seniors produced Chips act here at home and more as Republicans can't even elect a speaker, the parties are definitely not the same. Republicans cannot govern and even after McCarthy sells everything but his family for the belt(maybe?) that position will be useless, Motion to vacate" 1 person, imagine that mess, (Bobert, MJT) talk about NOTHING getting done, government shutdowns coming, not funding the debt ceiling, and national security situations hung out to dry. C'mon man. This party heading way of the Whigs and the last guy will finish it off if he's not nominated and goes 3rd party taking his ball with him and ensuring another loss for the once great GOP as his reposts of the idea has been posted and coincidentally Moscow Mitch also from Kentucky where Clay was from. You know George Santos said he was a WallStreet hedge fund manager, and he could lead the circus. I haven't heard his name yet on the roll call.? GROUNDHOGS DAY for day 3. Big Lie group winning 9-0 McCarthy staying late tonight to move his stuff back out of the office put in hall for now. A true embarrassment for the American people Ya know Jeffries only needs 6 renegades to get the belt, imagine that!
