"[Amber] McLaughlin spoke quietly with a spiritual adviser at her side as the fatal dose of pentobarbital was injected."

"She was pronounced dead a few minutes later. 'I am sorry for what I did,' McLaughlin had said in a final written statement. 'I am a loving and caring person.'... The clemency petition cited McLaughlin’s traumatic childhood and mental health issues... [and] said that McLaughlin had received a diagnosis of gender dysphoria.... But McLaughlin’s sexual identity was 'not the main focus' of the clemency request, her lawyer, Larry Komp, said. She was originally convicted in 2006 of the murder of Beverly Guenther, 45, who had taken a restraining order.... 'McLaughlin terrorised Ms Guenther in the final years of her life but we hope her family and loved ones may finally have some peace,' [said Missouri Governor Mike Parson, who denied clemency]."

From "Amber McLaughlin: first transgender woman is executed in Missouri" (London Times).

ADDED: The London Times used the term "sexual identity," which made me think maybe in London the preference for "gender identity" has yet to take hold, but searching the Times archive, I see that "gender identity" is more common. For example, here are 2 pieces from a couple weeks ago: "The gender issue is now a religion. Fear of blaspheming keeps sensible people quiet" ("This is what happens when you legislate based on faith. And gender identity is a faith...") and "Parents lose court fight against gender lessons/Sex education is about tolerance, says judge" ("A group of parents has lost a legal challenge against the teaching of gender identity and sex to seven-year-old children in Welsh primary schools").

Using "sexual identity" would appear to be a ratcheting-up of the gender wars. Until two minutes ago, rational people on the left could agree that although gender is spectral and experiential, there's a biological component to sex. But if sex is merely a matter of identity, whoo-boy, there are no limits.

All a lie. It's these MtF freaks.

What difference, at this point, does it make?

I glanced at the headline and what flashed in my head is "Is this how Johnny and Amber "reconciled"?

Physician-assisted suicide did seem like a strange way of burying the hatchet.

Few things repulse me more than the concept of spiritual advisor. The sort of people who believe in souls and spirits, but reject biological reality.

He was a man when he murdered a woman. He was a man when he was sentenced. He was imprisoned because he killed a woman. It's pretty damn insulting that he used his imaginary womanhood to try to avoid consequences for killing a woman in both appeals and clemency requests.

He has now erased his victim's identity for a second time. But no surprise that the Times colluded in this sickening denial. I wonder what they would have done if he had killed an Asian woman and then insisted he was an Asian woman with a stereotypically Asian female appearance and name? What if he, as a man, killed a transgender and then became a transgender in prison?

This is Ed Gein stuff. Just make sure you don't slip on the wrong identity banana peel.

Crazy is as crazy does.

Also, that lawyer is playing with fire by not emphasising the transgender features of this case. I bet Human Rights Campaign has him in their sights. They need targets!

I see this news article, going through the pneumatic tube, to Winston's desk. He opens the tube and reads. realizes that "Gender Dysphoria" needs excised from the paper...

Another connection between gender dysphoria and psychological problems. Why not get to the root cause of gender dysphoria?

Narr, you should know the real story of how Sister Helen Prejean, in collusion with the evil Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, psychologically tortured and harassed the survivors of the composite killers depicted in the film Dead Man Walking. I researched and wrote about it and spoke with a survivor and Prejean's "partner."

That Prejean hag stalked one survivor and entirely misrepresented it in the film. Horrifying. Also in the film, they made the only surviving crime victim into a murder victim and depicted him and his raped/tortured/murdered girlfriend's "ghosts" witnessing the execution as wraithlike vengeance mascots. The surviving victim is permanently wheelchair bound and severely brain damaged. They victimized all those poor, poor families again, and Hollywood cheered. Knowing the facts, I vomited watching the film.

And no, the executed killer of never repented. He went to his death mocking his victims' survivors.

The sulfur is strong in "Sister" Prejean.

These "late" decisions that you are a trannie are increasing. One of them impregnated three real women in prison.

Trans/homo or trans/sim? Sex cannot be changed (perhaps viral-vector, mutagenic whole-body cell replacement). Gender (i.e. sex-correlated attributes) can be self-identified or simulated.

I read elsewhere that HE also raped his victim’s dead body.

Rape or rape-rape?

Bye bye necrophiliac

A kink, a fetish, a queer edition. #NoJudgment #NoLabels

Ah, diversity [dogma], the female perchance feminist bloc, equitable and inclusive in the modern model, but hardly novel. #HateLovesAbortion

Progress

[Unqualified] monotonic process: one step forward, two steps backward.

I'm surprised the London Times didn't posthumously refer to the victim as "her lesbian girlfriend".

Tina, I am interested in what you have said here about sister Helen Prejean. Can you give some specifics and preferably a book?

Narr said...

Tina, I don't need persuading about the Prejean creature. I knew by the fact that she was being celebrated by Hollywood that she was likely a fraud or worse.

Amber McLaughlin was the first transgender woman? I think they should have thought through their headline a little more.

Isn't it a little twisted to write a story about a convicted murderer being put to death for the cold-blooded stalking and brutal murder of a woman 20 years ago, and mention the original victim only passingly - instead making the story about a prison transgender farce? Yes, it's twisted.

Yancey Ward said...

Well, he had nothing to lose by trying the transgender ploy- it just didn't work.

"Dead Man Walking"

That was a weird movie. I saw it a long, long time ago. I remember saying near the end, "What? Are we supposed to be sad? As though we don't remember the beginning of the movie?"

Misplaced pity is a big theme of our age.

We can all celebrate this event as opening a new chapter in Diversity! The non-cis community has for too long been excluded from criminal executions.

Diversity: color judgment, class-based bigotry (e.g. racism, sexism, ageism).

cis-

word-forming element meaning "on the near side of, on this side," from Latin preposition cis "on this side" (in reference to place or time), related to citra (adv.) "on this side," from PIE *ki-s, suffixed form of root *ko-, the stem of demonstrative pronoun meaning "this."

Same-sex?

cisgender refers to entities sharing the same sexual attributes (e.g. orientation). According to Levine, this includes gender by self-identification and simulation through surgical, medical, and/or psychiatric corruption.
