"While 31% of Republican and Republican-leaning independents want Trump... 61% say they would rather have DeSantis..."

According to the new he USA Today/Suffolk University, reported at the NY Post.

I know you Trumpsters are brooding and scoffing about the so-called "Republican-leaning independents" who are diluting these numbers. Call me when you have the numbers on actual Republicans. Right? That's what you're thinking, isn't it?

Anyway, the poll also has Trump lagging 7 points behind Biden and DeSantis 4 points ahead of Biden.

I am going to vote for whoever will mercilessly attack, antagonize, and victimize the leaders and forces working daily to cut my sons dicks off. Thus far the person with the better track record of doing that is Desantis, but Trump works fine too.

If the Dark Lord Sauron himself was running on a platform that protected my children from penis-chopping forces with the slogan "No Dicks for Dick-Choppers!", he gets my vote. I will do whatever is necessary to hurt and harm those people, including break the law. W.A.R.

I blame this on Trump himself. His candidates experienced mixed outcomes in 2022, plus he came up with a reaaaaaaaaaaaaly bad campaign starter and theme for 2024: "America's Golden Age is just ahead." That would be bland and forgettable under any circumstances, but he's also known for gold as commercial branding. Is he running for President or marketing this businesses? See Trump Tower's golden lobby and his Oval Office golden curtains.

Leading two years into the future calls for adaptation to an emerging and yet unknown world order. But, Trump locked himself into his golden theme a full year before he could read actual election cycle politics of 2023 and 2024. His talking points will be terribly stale and old-hat at the time when he needs novelty to influence voters. Trump's strategy worked in 2016 but faltered in 2020 with the arrival of COVID -- he got stuck on the good old times of 2017 to 2019 even then and failed to adapt.

Next, add in establishment right wing hatred of him and the left wing mental meltdowns if he's the nominee. Groundhog day again. All politicians over age 70 should retire.

Trump served his purpose, which was to trivialize the Presidency. He had an opportunity to salvage his term, but he squandered it by allowing Hillary Clinton to remain free. He jails her, and he's President for life.

Those millions of committed voters you sneer at as "Trumpers" will not vote for anyone they think is going to sell them out. AGAIN. But if the candidate can show them that he is committed to what they are looking for, they will vote for that candidate.

Which means that they are not going to vote for anyone playing footsie with the DC establishment.

This may seem juvenile and defeatist to the establishment Republican folks--"what--and let the Democrats win?" but those are the facts of life. And remember--the establishment Republican types were perfectly and publicly willing to have Hillary Clinton become President to prevent Trump from doing so. (National Review, anyone?)

If you're going to be screwed by the establishment, you can at least take some satisfaction in not voting for the people who are screwing you.

The Republican Party ought to acknowledge that they played the DC game too long, and are willing to change. If they don't--no sale.

That is now considered an outrageous and impossible and ludicrous proposition.....by the republican party leadership only. The democraticals leadership has no difficulty representing their base.

It's amazing how many in the republican base, not the majority but a significant chunk, having been beaten down culturally for years, will now simply accept without complaint whatever these uniparty types shoves down their throats in the desperate hope that some little crumb might be tossed their way.

Mitch McConnell can literally spend millions on campaigns that attack the republican candidates in states across the nation and the usual suspects will simply bend over and say "thank you, may I have another".

And you think the left won't do the same to DeSantis? DeSantis looks good because he is governing an area of the country where he has overwhelming support. He won't have that on a national level. Palin had an 80% approval rating in AK when she was put on the ticket with McCain. Not making a direct comparison, just sayin'.

Policy, party, and personality. I've never been a fan of Trump's personality, but I've never seen a President who's policy I agreed with more. I understand the electability issue so many here are concerned with. You can't institute policy if you aren't elected. But if one of the other 2016 Republican candidates had gotten the nomination and defeated Hillary (doubtful imo) would the left be getting the pushback it is right now? Would Musk have bought twitter? Would...etc?

I'm not ready to throw Trump under the bus because he is hated by the left or some Republicans are tired of the battle. I want his intuitive/common sense policies back in play, and I'm not convinced DeSantis is capable of that.

Everyone seems to think DeSantis is going to run in 2024. I think he'd be an idiot to do that. If he waits til '28 he gets all the Trump votes without having to do battle with the Donald. I will certainly vote for DeSantis if he runs and gets the nomination, but I'd vote for Cheney before I'd vote for anyone the Dems are likely to put up.

I don’t see that Donald Trump has quite grasped how badly the results of the 2022 election reflect on his political acumen, and him in particular. The GOP lost very, very winnable races in Arizona, Georgia, and, especially, Pennsylvania. These were high profile races and the losing candidates would probably not have been nominated without Trump’s endorsement and his support in the primary. If Trump had never gotten involved in the primary process, would those races have gone to Kelly, the wife-beating slumlord Warnock, or the execrable racist Fetterman had Trump not been involved in the primary process? Kelly, perhaps. The other two, probably not. And the Senate would be 52-48, and a check on Joe Biden.

Worse, Democrats were able to run against Donald Trump, and this contributed to their wins. Republicans did not nationalize the election, and candidates were not able to run against Biden and his economic policies. This is on Mitch McConnell, Rick Scott, Kevin McCarthy, Tom Emmer, and, especially, Ronna McDaniel.

It’s important to get rid of the terrible economic policies of Joe Biden, but that cannot be done without winning in 2024.

They don’t prevent infection by the virus, and they aren’t safe. Of course, they violate false advertising laws. No one on the left can afford this going to trial. Enough voters have demonstrated that they would never vote for Trump to make his new candidacy look like a losing one. Also, he isn't making the changes that could enable him to improve his vote share.

I'll vote for DeSantis if he's the nominee, but without any real enthusiasm. I wasn't enthusiastic about Trump in 2016 either. I was enthusiastic in 2020. Trump did a fantastic job, but not enough people saw it that way. Trump has to convince enough people to vote for him that the election is more than a squeaker -- because we know what will happen if it's close -- and Trump can't do that.

DeSantis isn't Jeb Bush, but he does look too much like politics as usual to a lot of people, and looking at Biden and Harris, politics as usual is no longer a guarantee of competence or managerial skill (DeSantis was a competent governor, not just another idiot senator, so maybe there's some hope there). There's also a feeling that all the National Review conservatives we thought Trump had marginalized will be coming back and lording it over the party and the country and the world.

DeSantis will get bogged down in all the Washington infighting, but that's pretty much a given nowadays. He would be better than any Democrat would be.

Can they get it dumped on Supremacy grounds? After all, the companies went through pro forma approval processes. But FL isn’t suing on whether the drugs can be legally dispensed, but rather on false advertising grounds.

That isn't fighting smarter. Those companies have an army of lawyers and will ensure that it goes nowhere. DeSantis is simply posturing for the cameras.

Another "win" for team GOPe/Dem on the omnibus budget bill.

The McConnell-tards load up on the dems wishes and lock it in before the GOP takes control in Jan, after which it would have been much more difficult for the GOPe-ers to play "Failure Theater" for the base.

At this rate, McConnell will have delivered on every dem policy preference for the '23/'24 congressional session before the end of 2022!

Congratulations GOPe-ers and dems, but I repeat myself.

Gadfly - Start by being honest. You are not honest.

#1 DeSantis is governor of a state. He has the right to act as a Governor. His tweet/announcement - has nothing to do with a presidential run. Because he is a strong popular governor of a large state - he gets a lot of attention.
Also - New date is showing that the vaccine is harming people. You know this, right?

His tweet:

"In Florida, it is against the law to mislead and misrepresent the efficacy of a drug.

So, today, I’m announcing a petition to the Supreme Court of Florida to impanel a statewide grand jury to investigate any wrongdoing with respect to the COVID-19 vaccines."

GAdfly - Care to show us the data on how you know that more R's died than D's in FL - & why that would matter?

COVID vaccines may be harming our young

"Significant studies and scientific findings have come out over the past few weeks, all not getting the appropriate airing that we deserve from news media. They have to do with the possible harmful effects of COVID vaccines.

The most significant is a study coming from Oxford, Washington, Toronto, Harvard, and John Hopkins Universities, which looked at 18-29-year olds boosted with an mRNA vaccine. And what they found was this: “Using CDC and sponsor-reported adverse event data, we find that booster mandates may cause a net expected harm: per COVID-19 hospitalization prevented in previously uninfected young adults, we anticipate 18 to 98 serious adverse events, including 1.7 to 3.0 booster-associated myocarditis cases in males, and 1,373 to 3,234 cases of grade ≥3 reactogenicity which interferes with daily activities.”

To put it another way: for those below 30 years old, vaccines are more harmful than COVID by a factor of 18-98%."

No one on Wall Street can afford this going to trial. But the "megadonors" are not worried. Because if this was remotely sincere, Ron DeSantis would have run on it during his re-election campaign, or even done something about it during his first term. This is just DeStandin':

1) Declare a grand legal battle to much fanfare
2) Enjoy boosted poll numbers from Conservative Inc.
3) Quietly let things drop when a judge finds the plan unconstitutional, or schedule redress so far in the future he won't be dealing with the legal challenges. For instance, the Reddy Creek debacle isn't going to start taking effect until well into 2023.

Republicans got five million more votes than the Democrats. Two of the seats, PA and AZ, at a minimum, were won based on openly suppressing Republican voters, not enough ballots in Republican precincts, in PA, an issue over which an election was just overturned in Germany, and somehow printer settings got fucked up overnight the day before the election in AZ, sending thousands of Republican voters home. Those printers could have easily been accessed over the internet and futzed around with.

What I see is another psy-op by Democrats that has sucked in a whole bunch of you to imagine that Trump doesn't bring in massive numbers of voters. That's the real reason Democrats are scared of him, it certainly isn't fear of WW3! \

Bruce Hayden said...

“If he is not running, why the false attack on administrators of the Florida Covid program where more Republicans have suffered death from the coronavirus than Democrats by failing to get vaccinated”

Hint. The COVID-19 experimental artificial mRNA gene therapy products (aka “vaccines”) don’t work as advertised, and are killing people. Yes, you may not know that, because the Administration has (illegally) been using its back doors into Google, Facebook, Twitter (until very recently), etc to actively suppress that information, and just got billions more to advertise the bivalent “vaccines”. Most recently, the bivalent “vaccines” were approved based on testing with six mice. The original approvals skipped significant testing requirements, including the CDC mandated “shed” test that would have shown patients shedding the spike proteins for months after the inoculations. This is significant, since safety of the vaccines was predicated on the mRNA generating the spike proteins breaking down at the injection site before it could migrate throughout the body. It doesn’t, but has been detected at least 4 months later. Hence many of the side effects of the “vaccines”. (The cause is apparently the substitution of Pseudouridine for Uridine in the mRNA).

Ron DeSantis knows that. Most of us here know that. You just aren’t going to find it in the NYT, WaPo, etc.

OK Hunter, here we go again since you aren't going to do the work yourself. The AA that Kushner and others pushed through made it possible for the countries that signed on to trade directly with Israel. Since the Saudis didn't sign before Trump left office but were interested in doing business with 'the Silicon Valley of the MidEast' they made a deal to have Kushner set up an investment firm to handle the 2b investment in Israel. (You can check me on this, but I believe the total the Saudis put up was closer to 3b, but 2b was earmarked for Israel only) as a condition of Kushner's taking the deal.

There was some concern from other members of the Royal family that Kushner wouldn't be the best fit for the deal, but MBS insisted Kushner handle it. I've seen numbers floated around of Kushner's firm getting 25m (<1%) to something less for handling the money, but can't verify that. Your insinuation that the deal was a payoff of some sort is leftist bullshit talking points.

If you are getting your info from Coulter you might want to expand your horizons a bit. She's a bomb thrower, not a source of information. Even when she was all in on Trump she never had anything of interest to say.

Trump is losing ground to a person who isn't even in the running for 2024. This points to his weakened position and shrinking support (and to his own self-inflicted wounds) - that's it.
It reveals a growing desire from the base to dump Trump. Some of his former supporters are sick of him. (some) All the talk of "only Trump can fix ...." isn't working anymore. Other issues like the jerks and sell-outs within the GOP are beside the point.

Keep looking. It's there. Kushner wasn't accepting any deal that wasn't marked for Israel, and the Saudis were interested in getting Israel tech. And I'm pretty sure it's 3b, but just 2b was linked to Israel firms. Not sure why the majority of articles only use the 2b number.

Trump dealt with situations realistically with outcomes that benefited the US rather than globalists.

Aside: While the lab leak may not have been intentional the release of 300k infected Chinese certainly was. Trump was making real headway towards forcing China into deals that were better for the US. Xi took the opportunity to disrupt things.

"A conservative leader asked me today: is it just me or does the RNC exist like a closed universe unto itself, unaffected by reality and the voters they represent? How can this be?"

How can this be?

Because there are far too many GOPe-ers who will retreat/surrender at the first sign of poitical conflict and the republican leadership counts on that as they sell us down the river.

That ain't happening. Trump and Haley didn't see eye to eye on too many things. And, you aren't going to get Trump policies without getting vitriol no matter who is trying to implement them.

I don't understand why people think that Trump was the originator of the vitriol. He pushed back against the vitriol. Vote for Romney if all you want to do is get along. Of course since he is mean to dogs, causes cancer, and wants to kill granny even then we might not get along.

Impossible not to notice how HBTPFH's comments are quite indistinguishable from the standard leftist fare, and have been for quite some time.
