What was Elon Musk doing at a Dave Chappelle concert?

Chappelle tries to improvise his way through the booing, but what the hell? Why should a comedy audience appreciate a non-comedy guest cameo on the stage? Was there some sort of reliance on the idea that Musk is a free-speech hero, so the crowd would cheer?

Gizmodo describes the scene — and quoted Musk's tweet about it: "Technically, it was 90% cheers & 10% boos (except during quiet periods), but, still, that’s a lot of boos, which is a first for me in real life (frequent on Twitter). It’s almost as if I’ve offended SF’s unhinged leftists... but nahhh."

From the Summer of Love to the Age of Intolerance. That's SF.

It's San Francisco. Tickets were probably crazy expensive, and the rich tech folks in the audience were just jealous that there was someone there richer than them.

American puritanism strikes again.

The left hate Free speech.
The left love speech that is controlled by The Crook Biden Global Elite.

10% boos = losers, Soviets, and Antifa-nazi sympathizers.

It is a really small number of people that are supporting the Regime and it's obvious bullshit and corruption.

The elections are obviously corrupt. Nobody supports any of this.

Nobody can say anything good about our current leadership in either party.

They can only attack the people that are pointing out the obvious problems.

The whole thing is going to collapse.

Note that Bruce Springsteen concerts have loud and long calls of:

"Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce."

Perhaps it only sounded like a boo, as they said "Muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusk." He he.

Uuuuu = Boo...but probably some boos as many don't like mixing politics with entertainment.

Last year Musk would have been greeted with cheers in San Francisco.

(1) It's. San Francisco audience.
(2) The Boos sound higher pitched that the cheers, despite the inherent baritone of "boo."
(3) I would like to read some anecdote regarding the gender gap in Musk attraction/detraction. I'm betting that ab majority of his detractors are female or gay. In this way, Musk is like Trump.

Elon,

That was really stupid. The only thing more dangerous to your safety is having information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of Hillary Clinton.

What were you thinking? Didn't you just speak openly about the dangers to your safety?

If I was in your position, I wouldn't walk around without at least Machoman Randy Savage and the Undertaker as security. That's what I'd woo, and I'm a pro!

Beef it up,

Is it really all that remarkable? When Musk tweeted that people should vote Republican in the midterms, he signaled to Democrats he was rooting for the other team. When given a chance, people in San Francisco responded to Musk’s rooting with boos. The only surprise in this story is that Musk was surprised.

I guess he's rethinking the the invite to throw out the first pitch.

Remember, this was a Chappelle audience.

OMG - of course- It's McConnell-Romney in the SF audience... booing. Those rat-bastards.
It's all over.

Hmm, there were more (booing) GOPe-ers at the Chappelle show than I expected.

Careful, Elon. They buy Teslas, or not.

Elon Musk is what Trump should have been on Twitter. He is both funny and intelligent. Trump managed the former, but not enough of the latter.

There’s not much left that’s positive to say about SF.

And that is a cryin’ shame… one of our most enjoyable things to do when we moved to NorCal nearly 40 years ago was visiting “the City”, going to Scoma’s restaurant, riding the cable cars and seeing the sights. And seeing some great bands at the Fillmore and other clubs. It’s a total fustercluck now.

Why ask us? Only Dave Chappelle knows. Ask him.

Masscon said...

Maybe the audience was comprised of a large contingent of former Twitter employees.

MikeR said...

Well, of course they hate him. All he did was take a big step toward fixing global warming.
With his billions he could have bought two Big Macs for every man, woman, and child in this world, and he didn't do that.

Reliance? No, apathy. You know who couldn't care less about those boos? Dave Chappelle. You know who could care less than Dave Chappelle? Elon Musk.

It's the same dynamic as politicians who are introduced at ball games. They almost always get booed. We go to concerts, ball games to escape the horseshit.

Of course, they'd boo Musk, the guy who symbolizes at least two of San Francisco's cardinal hates:

1) Heterosexuality
2) Free speech
3) Basic cleanliness

Dave has been hitting the cancel/censorship issue pretty hard after the Tans community came down on his head.

Musk is a free speech enthusiast.

Seems like a reasonable pairing.

But too, too many are desirous of the power of the heckler's veto.

I understand the question, "Why should a comedy audience appreciate a non-comedy guest cameo on the stage?"

How about this one, "Why should any audience appreciate minutes upon minutes of the heckler's veto even as Chappell tried to interject comedy?"

Maybe Dave was giving Elon 5 minutes to get out some new material he was working on.

Some people might say that Chapelle is something of a free speech hero, himself.

David53 said...

Dave got some good material out of that. Watch for future jokes from Chapelle about the world’s greatest AA.

Now that Musk has exposed how overstaffed and bloated many of these companies are, it's going to be a race to downsize overhead and many in the audience won't be employed next year.

GOPe booers in San Francisco? (OMG -they are everywhere!) Are they like Jussie Smolette's roaming MAGA goons, terrorizing the streets of Chicago in the middle of winter... with some bleach...?

hahahaha Dave has a good joke about that.

Leftists in SF hate Musk. This is not hard. Occam's razor.

Elon Musk is hardly an impartial observer of the crowd’s mood.

Listening to the Left talk about this on Twitter, you'd think they'd just won the Superbowl. Somebody needs to tell them they haven't, and Musk being booed in San Francisco is about as significant as Joe Biden being booed in Fort Worth. It doesn't mean a damned thing.

I don't think many SF residents buy Teslas because they don't have parking spaces with chargers and landlords are not up for that improvement because it is likely to burn the building down.

I watch that video and I'm impressed by Musk and Chapelle. They get it. The MSM that FINALLLY covered a Musk story doesn't. This video flew all over Twitter today; trended. Musk didn't suppress it. He addressed it, and basically said...ok...fuck you San Fransisco. That kicks ass on a massive scale.

Chappelle and Musk: Two dudes. One black. One white. Both on the right side of history. Both with skyrocket IQs. Balls of brass. And both with enough fuck you money to back it up, challenge the narrative, and change the conversation dynamic on a massive scale for the freedom and good of all people. Huge.

"What is Elon Musk doing at a Dave Chappelle Concert?"

Chappelle invited him. That's the real story.

Who cares what SF thinks. Funny part is...Musk is pulling off all this shit from...San Fransico. This would only be sweeter if were doing it from Madison, WI.

The obvious point that Joe Biden is the leader of the democrat party and an open child predator doesn't really even need to be made.

Pretty sure this is a moby trying to make democrats look stupid.

What a strange comment as Elon doesn't come off as a New Soviet Democratical groomer at all.

Yoel Roth and the entire Twitter 1.0 Team sure does though...and they were nice enough to document it for us...right down to the groomer apps they want to make available to young children.

The Musk appearance was meant to be read as a show of support for the would be canceled and to show that the discussion that support generates is welcome at Twitter.

The boos shows the split between “trusting” Chappell but not “feeling safe” with Musk. Personality trumps principles specially when the principles are complicated.
