"Twitter has suspended the account of prominent liberal journalist Aaron Rupar as well as reporters from CNN, The New York Times and The Washington Post."

"Rupar, who has more than 788,000 followers, had his account suspended the day after Twitter suspended then restored an account that followed the movements of the billionaire’s private jet. 'I never posted anything Elon Jet related or that could violate the policy about disclosing locations. Unless the policy is that you criticize Elon and you get banned,' Rupar told CNN’s Oliver Darcy. And it came on the same day that Twitter suspended the account of social media rival platform Mastodon."

The Independent reports.

Bunch of other suspended journalist accounts. May have in common Sweeney story on private jet. Specifically, noting that LAPD has no record of police report on the car incident. And Sweeney has been suspended again.

So leftwing journolists who favor banning people are getting banned. And whining about it.

Okey-dokey.

Keith Olbermann regularly incites violence against others. And laughs about it. So, if he got suspended, let him learn the lesson. Assuming his head injury allows him to.

I'm not a free speech absolutist. Doxxing is a no-no. So is inciting violence. So is porn, etc.

A person truly possessing cruel neutrality might at least think about waiting for an official announcement documenting the reason for the suspension instead of blandly (blindly) accepting Rupar’s suggestion that it was either related to tracking Musk’s jet or because of a serious case of pique by Musk.

One of many accounts suspended for posting links to the jet tracker information in violation of the new doxx’ing policy. I don’t like the policy but it was about politics but violating terms of service.

Seems capricious and unwarranted, just like a lot of the previous bannings at Twitter. I wonder what the strategy is here? Is it, "See? How do you like it when it happens to you? That's why I want to adopt the policies regarding free-speech I advocated for. Now I will unban these accounts and hopefully you come aboard my free-speech e-vessel." If so, I can understand the rationale but I don't think it will be effective. It has been my perspective that tribalism outweighs avoidance of hypocrisy.

Elon's toddler son was put in a dangerous situation with the help of Elonjet's real-time doxxing service.

Elon made clear that real-time doxxing would result in a ban. Because real-time doxxing put his toddler son in a dangerous situation.

These banned accounts all consciously and deliberately linked to the real-time doxxing service that put Elon's toddler son in a dangerous situation, behavior which it was made clear would result in a ban.

All the banned accounts supported banning for non-dangerous behavior, it was inevitable that they would think themselves above the rules and flout them to implicitly signal support for actual dangerous behavior and facilitate it. Good riddance.

I happened to catch the Twitter Space (is that what you call the live thing) where journalists were crying in each other's arms about it, when Elon turned up for about two minutes and said, "it doesn't matter if you're a journalist, or a so-called journalist, you're... a citizen," you're just someone on Twitter, and you will get suspended if you dox, and he especially focused on real-time doxxing of locations. Not a crazy thing considering he's being stalked, harassed and jet-tracked. He also said--to paraphrase, I'm not sure he used this language but the gist was, being clever or cute by linking to a source that links to the real-time ElonJet tracking account doesn't exempt you.

He then summarily logged off the chat. The attendees were trying to ask him questions, some probably legit, but it only took a few seconds for that signature combination of smarminess and self-regard to set in. I would have left too.

There's one thing you can count on with our lefty commenters. They practically zero technical acuity. Not only do all planes both public and private planes have tail numbers if they take off from a controlled airport,( the airport has a tower) they have to file a flight plan. A flight plan that says when you plan to leave, where you are going and when you plan to arrive.
The only exception to any of the above is in the case of ultra-light aircraft.
The thing about tracking a specific flight is that you don't know who is on that flight. A lot of people who own corporate-private- jets lease them out when they are not using them.

I just came on here to see how many people would be enjoying the delicious, heavy irony of reminding the Twitter-fascists about 'building their own social media platform' and 'private company does what it wants' and all of the other deeply unfair, partisan sneering that went on a few years ago as conservatives were banned for perfectly unoffensive content, except the wrong opinions.

Now: How many of these 'journalists' have come out in the past 2 weeks to provide comment on the unfolding 'Twitter Papers' story? How many of them came clean and said words to the effect of, 'my goodness, that was out of control', or 'how unfair, glad this is being revealed'. How many of them kept up the facade?

Musk laid out the rules publicly. He then banned the kid that was doing it. He then banned the 'journalists' that took the opportunity to re-tweet what got the kid banned, committing the same offense while being shrill about how unfair Elon is, picking on the kid. Too bad, so sad. Sounds like Musk has made it a one-week ban, unusually merciful for people that celebrated the lifetime ban of a sitting President.

Think of it as hierarchy.

I find the differences between the summers of 2020 and 2022 interesting. There was almost no AntiFA (and their BLM minions) riots last summer, while they were continuous throughout the run up to the 2020 election. Last summer there was almost complete silence, with FJB in the White House, Dems trying to maintain control in Congress, and Dems preparing to steal control of several states through massive election fraud. They just did not want to bring out the Law and Order vote in these purple states. That very strongly suggests that it is all physical, and the Dems in charge can, and do, green light and red light AntiFA and their violence. But there are still occasional reminders that AntiFA is still out their continuing to train and up arm themselves. Or, more realistically, be up armed. Little different from Hitler’s Brown Shirts and the (then) Leninist AntiFA of the 1930s - leashed and released, as needed. Now, many of them have matching black uniforms, with matching black helmets and ballistic shields, with the Hammer and Sickle prominently displayed. And nowhere to go do their violence.

Musk bought Twitter, and fired many, if not most of the wokesters who had made Twitter the power that it was for leftists. Some still remain, but are getting smoke out (e.g. top attorney Jim Baker) and fired alongside their brethren. No one liked this on the left. They were losing one of their major weapons. Maybe they could economically hurt Musk by burning down Tesla dealerships. It was suggested to AntiFA, and they got excited. Something to burn down!!! Except, as they were used to, they tried to organize through Twitter. And forgot two things - that Musk now owned Twitter, and that he was a lot smarter than they were. He summarily squashed (but probably didn’t fully eliminate) their ability to use Twitter for that. Now AntiFA used the ability of Twitter to facilitate real time doxing of their enemies to physically threaten Musk and his family. Standard practice in the past. Musk came down on that with a hammer, making doxing in real time much harder.

The thing that must be remembered is that the job of these journalists here is to run cover for the Dem’s shock troops - AntiFA, etc. They are trying to justify the tools used by AntiFA by trying to take the moral high ground through appeals to Freedom of the Press. Except that it is transparent. They don’t need, or really use that often, real time doxing. They don’t really need to know where Musk, or any of their other enemies, are located on a real time basis. It rarely benefits them as journalists. AntiFA does.

Bruce Hayden said...

As a side note, tracking plane numbers has for some time been a tool used by the conspiracy minded right. Except that it is usually not used to track individuals (except maybe to track who is attending leftist confabs like environmental summits and the like, mostly to see who attended somewhat secretly). It is primarily focused on tracking what the federal government is up to. By now they know what a bunch of fighters being dispatched means, as well as transport planes all going somewhere. And it can often be surmised what they are bringing by where they came from. They can tell when FBI, HLS, etc are coming to town. Like for the MAL raid in FL. Etc. The Feds are constantly moving assets around, in the background, and much of it never makes it into the MSM. That’s something that these “journalists” probably should be tracking tail numbers for, but studiously don’t. I notice though that while the tracking is somewhat real time, the analysis takes time, to see flight patterns, and likely doesn’t cross Twitter’s immediacy rule as a result. Was this Musk threading the needle?

All these people defending Elon doxxing someone's license plate... for something he never filed a police report on.

Are you really as much of a moron as you are acting?

"Doxxing" is saying "Joe Blow owns a silver 2022 BMW XXX, with license plate YYY".

It attaches information to person X, for the purpose of giving other people a chance to hunt down and illegally harm person X

"Unknowing individual with this license plate cut off my car and made me drive into a ditch"

This is not doxxing. You dont' know who the person is who did this thing, you're trying to figure it out, using what information you had.

Are you really such a mindless and ignorant buffoon that all you're capable of doing is take whatever word your betters are using, and try to throw it at them, like a 3 year old shouting "you're a poopoo head!"?

Gee, Musk didn't file a police report in a place where Soros prosecutor Gascone gets to decide if someone will be prosecuted. Which is to say, Musk isn't a moron, and doesn't waste his time on pointless acts.

Shits to give: 0

If Musk is lying about the person in the photo, she will be able to sue him for a LOT of money, and win. Do let us know about the lawsuit
