"The House Jan. 6 committee voted Monday to recommend the Justice Department pursue a batch of criminal charges against former President Donald Trump..."

 CNN reports the unsurprising news.

"[T[he committee's co-Chair, Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., said... that "among the most shameful" findings of the committee was that Trump sat in the White House watching the violence unfold on TV on Jan. 6, but did nothing, even as advisors and allies begged him to call off the rioters. "This was an utter moral failure," Cheney said of Trump's inaction. "No man who would behave that way, at that moment in time can ever serve in any position of authority in our nation again. He is unfit for any office."

I actually agree with Cheney about Trump’s failure to respond properly to the January 6 riot. I do note, however, that his failure to act was not a crime nor evidence of a crime.

Wait... was that before or after he was out driving in the presidential limo, grabbing the wheel (from the back seat, no doubt) from the chauffeur to try to get over to the Capitol?

In one case, he's sitting around watching TV, bored, taking no action as those around him begged him to do something; in the other case, he's driving around DC, trying to take control of the limo like a madman, to get to the scene of the action. Both scenarios taking place during the same period of time.

Please get your lefty talking points straight between yourselves before communicating them through your MSM.

Well, there's a lie right there. Trump didn't tell his supporters to enter the Capital Building, they didn't do so because he asked them to, and when he found out, he tweeted and went on TV to tell them to stop. Liz Cheney is a liar in so many ways. I hope she has one shred of decency left, and becomes a Democrat.

The real question is why were the protesters let into the Capital, why weren't there enough police at the Capital, and why wasn't the DoD offer of NG troops accepted by the DC Mayor or Pelosi? Other questions: How many of the Capital Hill protesters were FBI/DHS assets? And how many were leftwing plants desiring to stir up trouble?

Maybe the Republican congress can find out the answers.

He didn't have any actual power. He can't call out the national guard without first declaring DC to be in rebellion, or receiving a declaration from the city that they could not longer maintain law and order, neither of which would have happened. Certainly the riot would have been over before any troops could arrive. The Capitol Police were under the control of Pelosi. DC police were under the control of the Mayor. All he could do was ask for people to peacefully leave the area.

There's some seriously faulty logic there. Nixon conceded the 1960 election to Kennedy, even though he thought he had been fairly elected. Did that make him a traitor? Trump urged his supporters to peacefully protest, not to seize the capital. The count was still going on and hadn't been concluded, so why break it up in a moronic attempt to take over the capitol?

Trump still thinks he won, and he may even still think he could be reinstated, but my understanding is that he hadn't yet lost the day when the messiness at the Capitol started. Chaos and disorder would only prevent his case from being heard and ensure that Congress would certify the count that he objected to. I suspect that Trump recognized rowdiness and violence wouldn't change things. It turns out he did have some respect for the process and, at least on that day, didn't want to "burn the whole thing down."

We have to respect our great people in law and order. We don’t want anybody hurt. We have to have peace. So go home. . . . and go home at peace.”

Trump's oath ("so help me God") to the Constitution required he do whatever was within his power the moment protesters broke through the barriers surrounding the Capitol. Instead he watched television for three hours and did nothing, which is a dereliction of duty and a violation of his sacred oath. Eventually he got around to uttering the words above.

Instead he watched television for three hours and did nothing, which is a dereliction of duty and a violation of his sacred oath.

Wait. I thought he was trying to get TO the rally. You know, grabbing the steering wheel and all that. Make up your minds.

Violation of his sacred oath. It is to laugh.
You're no better than the drooling hyena who inhabits this board.

Trump proved he knew perfectly well how to discourage violence at the Capitol; he simply waited three hours before taking action. By way of comparison, if a fire chief ignored a fire alarm while a fire in his city raged out of control, then got around to sending fire trucks three hours later, we’d all understand it as dereliction of duty. Trump did the same here.

The J6 committee is, to any thinking person, a pile of blathering morons. But the blathering moron population of America deserves representation too. We are an idiocracy.

Now we can look forward to blathering moron prosecutors, judges, and jurors in DC. Perhaps judge Sullivan can be in charge of Trumps persecution. He blathers well.
