"Donald Trump walked into a comic-book universe of internet mockery on Thursday, when in a carefully trailed announcement he introduced his 'official Donald Trump Digital Trading Card' collection..."

"... with a picture of himself in superhero costume, cape and 'Trump Champion' belt.... In what with hindsight appeared a clue that the forthcoming announcement might not be in the traditionally dignified vein of statements from former presidents, that video featured Trump saying 'America needs a superhero' over an animation of himself standing outside Trump Tower, ripping open his suit to reveal a superhero costume and shooting lasers from his eyes. Some social media users thought Trump might announce a bid to be speaker of the US House, an outlandish if theoretically possible gambit pushed by some rightwing Republicans."

The Guardian reports.

Let’s review the Fat Tb of Goo.

Since his announcement Trump has done the following

1. Had dinner with noted neo-Nazi Nick Fuentes

2. Stated that the Constitution should be overturned because his ego is bruised.

3. Selling ridiculous NFT’s in an attempt to scam Trumptards. Hunter Biden should take notes. If Trump can get 99 bucks selling ba bad digital pictures of himself pretending to be Superman how much could Hunter get selling digital art depicting him smoking crack with a Russian hooker?

Which of these actions reverses the revulsion independent voters have for Trump?

Is this the Trump-standing-alone version of Obama's book deal and Netflix show? Cause Trump sure as Hell isn't going to get anything like that.
If so, as cheesy and pro-wrestling as it is, Trump's effort has much more dignity than Obama the Hope and Change rebel's way of cashing in, which was to essentially return the passionate bottom-smooching from the establishment that he benefitted from so much for so long, all so he could go out with enough money to hang with the Martha's Vineyard crowd for the rest of his life. He belongs there.

Trump's excellent and thankless service as President cost him dearly and continues to cost him, so if this is his way of clawing some of that back, God bless him. Hope he sells a lot of them.
Will I be buying one? I'm just a dumb nail-pounder. So, no. 99 bucks is still real money to me. I'll wait for the after Christmas sale.

Strange.

Both Achilles and I have been making argument after argument for a set of policies that were most effectively pushed by Trump from 2015 to Jan of 2017.

We have both made the argument time and again that Trump could be effectively attacked by another candidate going even more populist or America First.

As we speak, McConnell and Team GOPe is selling out the republican base on the omnibus budget "deal" with Schumer after selling us out repeatedly over the last 2 years which has handed the democraticals their most successful session in 40 years when it should have been their worst.

Thus far I still see no other candidates advancing any economic nationalist/America First/foreign policies that will attract the diverse working class/middle class coalition that can win nationally.

The "trick" is sticking to fundamentals.

In that sense I should congratulate the McConnell-tards as they have certainly stuck to their "fundamentals" of capitulating to the dems across the board.

It's a mistake that is odd for him. Usually he has a sense of what people want.

At some point Trump has the right to stop caring what people want. He's not Jesus. But, perhaps, maybe he sacrifices himself. He hasn't already?? The cock is crowing. Be careful what you wish for Peter to save your own hide in the short term. (not you Michael K..I get it).

Some, like Althouse, are just glad he's "gone" and wounded...even though it required voter fraud, propaganda, lies, and mass censorship to do so. But we still support the Constitution, and "the rule of law" don't we?

Who knows? Maybe Trump is just trolling the Peters that are now being rounded back into the pen by the sheep dogs. They've been trying to get everyone back into the pen since 2016. Obviously it's working.

Maybe he is trolling the sheep dogs. Maybe he doesn't get to see the promised land and realizes DeSantis may be the torch bearer. The mRNA vaccine is more Trump's Achilles Heal than anything (sorry Achilles) and DeSantis is going after it. He should. It's poison and should NOT be forced upon children.

But...Trump's free speech proposal today was bold. Althouse will ignore that proposal...for now. Government organizations shouldn't be allowed to collude with media and tech to censor "misinformation" and wash their hands of the First Amendment. He's the first...to say it...after Musk clearly exposed it.

Things are going to get worse before they get better. And NONE of us know if they are going to get better. America has not yet hit rock bottom. 2023 is going to be a rough economic year. Very rough. Wait till we find out what people are begging for a year from now.

But...if Trump ends up going down in an overdressed comic book blaze of glory...like Elvis...that's American. Because his moment of greatness can't be topped or repeated (2016). Or at least what used to be America.

FTR, long ago when MAGA was new I bought an official MAGA hat Xmas ornament. With really 24k gold plated trim!

I think it may have been $99, or something like that.

Anyway, I bought it ironically because I thought it was funny. I would do the same again with these cards if they were actually cards. It’s hard to get a laugh out of displaying an NFT. But, I’d love to have a DJT-as-superman card hanging around so folks see it and then ask me WTF.

Back in the day I displayed my gold trimmed MAGA hat ornament on an HRC for prison bobble head. The hat was almost perfectly fit to the bobble head’s head. It was just a wee bit big.

Anywho, I can’t have fun with this newest offering.

P.S. My buying that hat was the only money I’ve ever given to DJT’s campaigns, and yet I still get a multiple emails everyday from him/his folks asking me to donate to him. I know Althouse has mocked some lib emails she’s received where libs are asking for money, but this DJT grifting I’ve experienced has been way more nuts, for more than six years. Althouse is so funny.

P.P.S. When Althouse revealed that she didn’t vote for DJT there was quite a fuss in these threads. Over time maybe more folks around here will feel that they better understand why she saw something she didn’t want to support. Sure, some will jabber about the judges so that overrides everything that may be bad about DJT. But remember that Althouse claims to not like ideologues in politics, so she may not be a fan of unelected ideologues with lifetime appointments, and no oversight being in charge of our country. Is that what we have now? IDK. But how many con Justices and other judges is enough/too much? To be a good conservative is the goal to have nine Justices (and most/all other judges) that are Thomas-level, no matter how much the will of “the people” is opposed to hardcore right wing ideology. Call me crazy, but I prefer to have a nation where hardcore ideology doesn’t oppress the will of “the people.”

You fell for it. It got you commenting. It has gotten people talking about Trump. That was the goal.

Lets put it this way - Trump will never again be president.

I was initially swayed by John Kiriakou's negative framing. But upon reflection, how is this a grift? It's straight forward. Here's what you get for 99 bucks. It's fund raising. It's a request for a campaign donation. It's no different from any other candidate offering a signed photo or a calendar or a flag pin oranything else. It's just more interesting and imaginative. This particular lure displays Trump's sense of humor and IMO he's laughing at himself with these images. How often do you see a candidate do that anymore? Also, Kiriakou was either mistaken or misleading about this being Trump's big announcement.

Kiriakou is an ex-CIA officer and whistleblower who went to prison after pleading guilty to leaking classified information. He came to Trump's defense briefly, appearing on Tucker Carlson's show during the Ukraine impeachment episode. He asked Trump for a Presidential pardon but didn't get one.

So if I download that image and the others to my hard drive, I have the card without giving Trump any money?

I would have hoped Trump were more skeptical about NFTs and blockchains, but given his salesman/showman/huckster background, that was too much to ask for.

With the Trump cards- and my 99 bucks - I hope I get some bubble gum and a de-coder ring.
Otherwise - NO DEAL!

or an optional coupon to have dinner with Fuentes and YE.

Bob Boyd said...

The point isn't to have the image. The point is to give Trump money. He's fundraising.

If DeSantis runs, he'll be asking for money too. He'll probably send you a picture of himself in uniform.

Uniform v. Silly super hero cartoon?
hmmm -what will pull in those pesky independent voters? hard to tell. Will need that de-coder ring and the Trump-magic eight ball.

Buy both, and get free shipping. But wait! ... order now, and we will double your order.

Folks will have trouble reselling since buyer won't be entered in sweepstakes to meet with Trump at MAL if they happen to be in town at same time.

Yeah, yeah, I get that, but the only way you can think these pictures are in any way disturbing or important is if you believe Trump takes them seriously. I don't believe he does.

Anyway, my point was, people don't give a politician $99 because they want a picture of him.
And Trump isn't trying to pull in independent voters with these images. He's trying to raise money which he can then use to target voter groups like pesky independents and what not down the road. There are tons of Trump-as-superhero images out there online and everybody has seen them. No independent who is considering voting Trump for serious reasons in 2024 will decide not to because of a couple of funny pictures from 2 years before.

A pesky independent himself, Donald Trump pulled in almost 4 1/2 million dollars in one day and had fun doing it.

Bob Boyd said: Guy selling silly picture of himself in a superhero costume to raise campaign money vs. guy who takes millions from our enemies. Tough choice.

Wins the thread for me. Trump was a great president, and if he wants to do something kind of silly to raise money that's fine with me (not that I or anyone else who voted for him needs to be asked permission).

Yes, some people are sad he's not going to run seriously, but then a lot of the handwriting on the wall is that many of his supporters have been beaten down enough by the MSM and the crazies of both parties that they think he's a liability. Yes, when your whole political career consisted of being investigated for non-existent crimes and seeing your closest supporters and colleagues get ruined, you might appear to some as a liability, and you yourself might not be as interested in seriously running as before.
As far as I'm concerned, whatever he chooses he's free to choose. I'm still in debt to him for four years of intelligent and very helpful service to our country.

I am thinking of buying one of these.

Robert Cook, I am a little disappointed in the art on these as well. Perhaps not a bigger "package", but I feel that he could have chosen better artists. There is a lot of really enjoyable Trump art out there.

@ Bob Boyd - "A pesky independent himself, Donald Trump pulled in almost 4 1/2 million dollars in one day and had fun doing it."

He's independent? HUH - then why is on team GOP?

Well - that should help the billionaire pay for.... ? what exactly? Perhaps legal.

I doubt anyone other than a tru-believer bought those ridiculous cards.

The money goes to DJT, not some PAC. If intended as disguised political contributions that gets interesting. Assume he is piggy backing on other celebrity NFT investment gamble/ripoffs.

Laughing Fox really enjoyed spending a year locked in his house watching the economy implode while he guzzled Hydroxychloroquine, and listened to the Commander in Chief tell us "Its totally under control".

It really is a cult of maroons.

He took it over. Small e heads are still spinning.

Well - that should help the billionaire pay for.... ? what exactly? Perhaps legal.

He made 4 1/2 million in 12 hours. How many 12 hour periods are left between now and the election?

I doubt anyone other than a tru-believer bought those ridiculous cards.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

HBTPFH: "He's independent? HUH - then why is on team GOP?"

Because thus far he best represents the majority of the republican base voters, unlike your adored sell-out the base backstabbing GOPe "heroes".

Do you have any other typically stupid and ill-informed questions?

Don't hold back now. Lets get them all out there.

WWIII Joe Biden, Husk-Puppet + America's Putin said...

Trump Humpers are generally as "stupid" as their GOP hero - Trump.
gullible too. Billionaire Trump is laughing all the way to the bank.

But keep up the Trumpian name-Calling - Oh twin of Humper-dumb... and the boring repetitive BS - Romeny-McConnell Lover. It's as stale as your hero.

The left are cheaters and liars - and Trump is a moron. Both can be truth. Both ARE true.
Sucker.

Sorry HBTPFH, I will continue to call out your earthly god-hero McConnell for his back-stabbing ways and his constant corrupt deal-making with your democratical allies.

I dont care how much it makes you weep.
