"Bidin' My Time."

That amazing video was entirely new to me and just uncovered as a consequence of getting involved in the word "abide" — see the first post of today — after Elon Musk used it in a tweet that polls about whether he should step down as "head of Twitter."

And please note: I had absolutely no thought — until I began this sentence — of gesturing — even in the slightest — at the homophonic name of the President of the United States. But feel free to rewrite the Gershwin lyrics... or just leave them as is:

Next year, next year
Somethin's bound to happen
This year, this year
I'll just keep on nappin'

It’s a great song. One of the many American standards that was reconstituted over the years in different ways by a variety of artists. From the old movie Girl Crazy starring her and Mickey Rooney.

If Trump says "I'm bidin' my time", it could be interpreted as a threat.

A George and Ira Gershwin song, introduced in the 1930 Broadway show "Girl Crazy". The clip is from the 1943 Judy Garland/Mickey Rooney movie version.

An original version from The Foursome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-6Hf2EWTEQ

Bonus points for adding an elephant.

Great tune. Sadly, Hollywood was unable to contemplate western themes without the clip-clop.

Nope. Pretty good as written.

Delightful find, and a smiling spin of positive attitude on how to deal with this ObamaNation of a President.

As a result of that post I now have Abide with Me stuck in my head, which is quite acceptable to me, because it’s a beautiful song, and because someone I love is hospitalized for something scary and I do need our Lord to abide with me.

OK, although this movie takes place in the 1930s or 40s, this clip made me finally wonder whether cowboys in earlier 19th century America (1870s-1900) really had guitars or if this was a hollywood invention. Turns out its the latter. :(
There may have been singing cowboys but not guitars. I'm very disappointed.

Was that Mickey Rooney actually dancing? Very impressive if so....Mozart and George Gershwin. Death didn't bide its time. If they had lived another ten years, what wonders they would have produced....Judy Garland wasn't especially good looking, but there was something lovable about her gestures and the way she delivered a song.. Knowing her backstory and how it all turned out makes her even more endearing.

Adieu is even better, vowel-wise.

I Have Misplaced My Pants: a prayer for your loved one.

There was a big void to fill. Left to themselves real cowboys wouldn't have progressed beyond Turkey in the Straw.

"I may be Irish, but I'm not stupid," Biden inexplicably said..
"I married Dominic Giacoppa's daughter" he continued. "So you know, I got a little Italian in me now you know?"

I REALIZE that Jo's Not the sharpest Ho in the shed.. But WOULDN'T that be..
"So, you know, She's got a little Italian in her now, you know?"

Very nice. Catchy tune, clever lyrics, wonderfully choreographed.

You don't see many okarina quartets anymore. Sad.

Beat on the first comment (and others) to the Girl Crazy reference.

I used adieu a couple of times early on, but getting the vowels isn't very helpful. I now go with a couple of vowels and three from the holy pentad of R-S-T-L-N. S first is surprisingly effective.

For the second time, I blew a 50+ streak by inadvertently missing a day this week. Not that I much care or boast about the streaks (though I guess I just did), but NYT sticks the stats in my face every day.

The Holy Grail's coconuts made a Final Jeopardy recently, which was rude because the full movie title can't be written down in a few seconds.

Judy plays the guitar as well as P Harry does.
