They censored any dissenting discussions by rightwing accounts with influence. The mushy middle voters spent a year being bombarded by establishment propaganda about COVID, while having any dissent regarding issues like transgenderism, or Biden corruption, hidden away. I absolutely believe that was enough to change the outcome of the election.

Raichik herself was doxxed on November 21, 2022. A photo of her home with her address was posted in a tweet that has garnered more than 10,000 likes.

Oof. More garnering.

From the link seems we may be done with Hunter's laptop for now. Let's see if this blacklisting thread has legs.

Still think this is, besides to feed his ego, part of Musk's fight over compensation to fired executives and maybe other ex-employees. If the company "wronged" third parties like users, liability falls on current owner(s) unless unusually strong indemnity clause in the purchase agreement.

Musk can't want to see regulatory action. He wants as much freedom as the next big tech owner.

Once again everything through the filter of a friendly journalist, not the raw files.

It's like they know without spin their intended story cannot stand on its own legs. Why does Musk feel the need to hide the actual emails and files?

I've thought all along that much of the censorship wasn't algorithmic, but performed manually by the principals. That's what Weiss is showing..

And, by a “friendly journalist”, Mark means someone who actually has a record of reporting the truth….

I just heard on Fox News.

1. A new #TwitterFiles investigation reveals that teams of Twitter employees build blacklists, prevent disfavored tweets from trending, and actively limit the visibility of entire accounts or even trending topics—all in secret, without informing users.

2. Twitter once had a mission “to give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information instantly, without barriers.” Along the way, barriers nevertheless were erected.

16. One of the accounts that rose to this level of scrutiny was @libsoftiktok
—an account that was on the “Trends Blacklist” and was designated as “Do Not Take Action on User Without Consulting With SIP-PES.”

well it certainly would defeat the purpose of 'shadow banning', if people knew that it existed

This is new content because this is how Twitter limited - what were the techniques and justifications. There's tabs like "Trends Blacklist." Also there's a distinct suggestion that Jack Dorsey did know what was going on where previously the suggestion was the suppression was happening without his knowledge.
It's not clear where Twitter Safety and Gag entities got their specifications as to what was misinformation. I mean I know what they decided but it's not very clear how they decided. I mean this all rests on an internal consensus which was then used to force an external consensus on Twitter posts. But where did the original consensus come from? For instance, how did a group form which thought it would be good to ban scientific discussion? on a new disease? How did that group maintain the internal consensus which it was imposing externally? When it was wrong? When it was so harmful? When half the country knew the facts and was shouting them out at every opportunity?

Twitter employees have testified that they don’t engage in “shadow banning”. They were telling the truth. They engaged in “Visibility Filtering”, which, while being exactly the same thing as shadow banning in practice, it spelled and pronounced differently. So, they told the truth, in a manner of speaking. Bill Clinton must be proud.

@Mark "Why does Musk feel the need to hide the actual emails and files?" Musk has already said that all the files will be released, they just want to put the story out there first. Is there some reason why you want to pretend that WYSIATI?

Christopher said...

It's quite a thread. It shows the internal control panels with options including "Trends blacklist," "Search blacklist" and other ways to throttle reach. They expressly denied shadowbans but it's clear they were done, under the moniker Visibility Filtering. One of the chief liars was that pestilence Vijaya Gadde. IIRC her big debut of national lying was on the Joe Rogan show, where among other things she lied to Tim Pool.

It's bad enough that there are powerful people like Gadde and Joel Roth who lie so easily and without compunction, but in a way the fact there were hundreds if not thousands of employees happily working to shut me up and lie about it is more disturbing--since they represent what's still going on in most of the rest of the industry at Google and Facebook and all that. I expect much of it is still going on at Twitter--that doxing of the Libs of Tik Tok founder is reportedly still up.

Dumb Lefty Mark: "Once again everything through the filter of a friendly journalist, not the raw files."

LOL

Btw, how is Twitter able to keep operating? You assured us Twitter would collapse without all those "valuable" (wink wink) software engineers.

Dumb Lefty Mark: "It's like they know without spin their intended story cannot stand on its own legs. Why does Musk feel the need to hide the actual emails and files?"

Dumb Lefty Mark, for some bizarre reason, decides he will die on the Gadde/Roth are both honest brokers!!! "hill".

Its a bold strategy Cotton, lets see if it pays off!

So were the key people at Twitter bribed to do what they did? Or were they suckers who did it all for free

Mick said...

Most of all Jack and others told baldfaced lies denying they did this.

Mick said...

They literally damaged our economy, ruined young educations, and caused people to die by suppressing the Great Barrington Declaration strategy for COVID. It might have been adopted by more than Florida and a few other states had they been honest brokers.

I am pretty sure that “built” and not “build” is more accurate. Most, if not almost all, of these “safety” warriors were summarily essentially fired. Most were given a couple months of paid vacation. The top perps, mentioned in Bari’s tweets, were fire for cause, denying them the gold plated severance packages they probably expected.

Just think about all the files Baker deleted.

If he was sloppy or in a hurry, they might be recoverable.

But if he asked advice from his former colleagues, they are likely gone forever.

The bad guys seem to be on a winning streak as of late...

+++++++

I believe I heard previously that some Twitter employees were selling blue checks for as much as $15,000, so I doubt they were doing it for free.

Drago, I noted that it may take until the Auper Bowl for problems to happen.

How have your notifications been? Mine puts up a number there and yet when I look it tells me there are none.

You can tell me that's how it's supposed to work, but after more than a decade on there I know better.

A quick Google search of "Twitter Weiss" shows the story only reported by Fox News, The Hill, Al Jazeera, and The New York Post.

Looks like a mainstream media news blackout of the story...

Big Mike said...

It seems to me that if it is okay to leave up a Tweet giving the name and address for Chaya Raichik, and showing a picture of the front of her house, then it ought to be okay to do likewise for Vijaya Gadde, and Yoel Roth, and Parag Agrawal. Maybe publish Jack Dorsey’s favorite jogging routes. In the interest of even-handedness, you see.

Paul wrote something about sowing and reaping in his epistle to the Galatians, did he not?

(Yeah, to paraphrase “Inherit the Wind,” we are growing an odd crop of atheists around here.)

Gee Mark, why on Earth would Twitter first post these files on Twitter? It's not like they have an financial interest in promoting Twitter. And as for using a friendly journalist, at least she's a journalist. Now tell how many times libs go to paid Clinton prpagandist George Stephanopoulos for a friendly interview without comment from you.

Kate said...

They're required to post the breakdown first on Twitter. Aha. That explains Taibbi's clumsy rollout and now Weiss' posting. Just wait until they compile the information into a more readable format. It's coming.

All conservs on twitter knew we were shadow banned. The gaslighting was as harmful as the original action.

If Musk ends up paying those third-party claims (probably through diminution of value of Twitter after it pays them) he will turn around and sue the old management for misrepresentation and all kinds of other misconduct. In fact I think he will seek to bring them into the cases as co-defendants and necessary parties with direct liability. They caused Twitter to violate the rights of users and wreak foreseeable material harm on all kinds of innocent people.

Should be fun for his lawyers. And I suspect he can afford some lawyers.

Some of the leftists here are claiming that conservatives dominate twitter. That is hilarious. How many woke or far left were ever banned? Antifa set up attacks from twitter.

Drago said...

Mark: "Drago, I noted that it may take until the Auper Bowl for problems to happen."

There will always be a far off "Doom Date" in your "analysis".

Always.

One is also compelled to note that the far left, politically induced advertiser departure schtick has been slowed and is being reversed, with Apple as an example amongst others.

Cue the lefty Sad Trombone.

Meanwhile, we are actually seeing improvements in twitter performance, transparency and functionality.

Yep, its a real hellscape at Twitter alright....(wink wink).

Oh, and you've been on Twitter for 10 years so you "know" what' going on?!

My goodness, I guess that makes you a very special and delicate and unique unicorn with special insights to share.

I mean, that's so incredibly novel and unprecedented, the only other comparable life experience that might set you as far apart from mere mortals would be that of a former government contractor!

At which point you become the literal Voice Of "God"!

Drago said...

ccscientist: "Some of the leftists here are claiming that conservatives dominate twitter."

Oh, the leftu lying/gaslighting is only just getting started.

In about 3 months, 6 months tops, the lefties will be pulling another "Southern Strategy" Switcheroo and claiming it was actually "conservative" types at Twitter that were doing all the colluding and censoring.

Just watch.

I wouldnt be surpised if the lefties and their strong GOPe allies decided to impeach Trump over it.
