"[Wisconsin] Assembly Speaker Robin Vos easily held onto his seat Tuesday after a write-in campaign was launched by a candidate endorsed by former President Donald Trump."

 The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The attack on Vos symbolizes the intense discontent within the base of the Wisconsin GOP following the 2020 election, a loss for Trump that the former president and his supporters argue could have been overturned by Vos. Vos has rejected that idea, repeatedly refusing to take the illegal and impossible act of decertifying the election result, but Trump has pressed the case for more than a year — calling Vos out in statements blasted to millions of supporters and endorsing Steen in the final weeks of the primary race. Criticizing Vos became part of base Republicans' identity over the course of the last year, pushing allies of Vos who were running for statewide office to distance themselves. Two candidates for governor launched their campaigns as referendums on Vos. Dozens of county GOP officials passed resolutions calling for Vos' resignation....

This is my third post of the morning, and all 3 bear the tag "Trump lost in 2022."

Trump is poison in a general election. As Power Line’s John Hinderaker has written, Trump is the only nominee who could lose in 2024.

We need another tag!

Roe v. Wade lost in 2022.

One possible theory...

Satan wanted Donald Trump in power, because he's divisive as shit and people hate him!

God surprises Satan (again!) by putting Donald Trump in power.

Donald Trump got in power by appealing to pro-life Christians by naming all his judges.

Trump got three pro-life opportunities and he was 3-for-3.

No Republican has ever been 3-for-3!

Reagan was 1-for-3!

That was fucking amazing.

Satan's like, "I don't care, I'm destroying the country."

God's like, "No you're not. As my son Bismark once said, 'God loves drunks, fools, and the United States of America.'"

Satan: "I hate everything! All your souls will be mine!"

ha ha ha

I'm just glad we didn't elect the pothead like I was going to do. It would be ganja this and weed that. The Department of Weed.

Trump's guy lost the primary. To say that his losing as a write in candidate in the general is a referendum on Trump is sort of stretching it. Has any write-in candidate ever won an election?

Speaker Robin Vos is the reason that voter fraud is rampant in Wisconsin.

I will not support a party that has people like Robin Vos in it.

I will vote for individual candidates if they say and do the right things. But the Republican party with people like Vos in it is a globalist tool that will destroy the working class and our country.

Ok.

Hopefully a 3rd party forms that addresses the working class priorities. It is clear the Republican party and a lot of it's voters don't want them.

Achilles: IMHO Trump did a lot of good in office —not nearly as much as he could have done, but who among us anticipated the power of the Swamp to stymie and smear him? Even if he had hit the ground running with a huge crew of ruthless and savvy bureaucrats and a long list of names to be fired, he would have fallen short. But his ego and impulsive ADHD and penchant for smart-mouth talk were both assets and liabilities, and once he lost in 2020 his highest and best use was no longer to try to run things or campaign to return to power. He should have contributed his energy and ideas and charisma to building a strong platform and a strong bench of players: stop trying to be QB and start coaching.
I don’t know if the GOP can rebuild itself around the interests and needs of the Little Guy, the vast middle, the yeomanry on which the country critically depends. I hope so. And I hope it’s damn soon. Time has just about run out.

Trump is toxic.
Gen Z showed up to vote - and they are all green-haired socialists/ Probably watch too much Stephen Colbert.
AZ and NV have vote-counting issues. Fraud? I do not know - but something smells.

CO is lost - probably forever. CO is now Chicago.

Covid killed a lot of GOP elderly voters. Chi-Com-get-democrats-elected-virus/ make mega pharma + Bureaucrat Fauci wealthy - worked

Take your jab - everyone.

YOU try to get things done with a Fake Russian Collusion hoax, paid for by Hillary Clinton hanging around YOUR neck for 5 years, 2 fake impeachments, an ass Like McConnell doing everything in his power to get rid of you, and the Propaganda media spewing hate, lies and DISINFORMATION for 5 years.

The Republican Party is the reason that we don't have a wall and we still have Obamacare.

Mitch McConnell sabotaged every effort Republican voters made.

And now Mitch sabotaged the 2022 midterms.

And you want to blame it on Trump.

The Republican party is commonly called the stupid party.

The voters are responsible for that.

Remember it is Robin Vos who allowed "Drop Boxes" for ballots in Wisconsin. He is allowing the "canvassing" of votes in nursing homes.

Vos is why Evers won. They are on the same team.

Inga said...

Vos is as right wing as he ever was , which was very far right. Just because Trump doesn’t like him anymore, because he wouldn’t break laws and take the vote away from millions of Wisconsinites doesn’t mean Vos is the enemy of the right. Vos IS the right and no friend to the left. And any fool that believes voter fraud is rampant in Wisconsin is just dumb. If that were true Mandela Barnes would have a solid lead over Johnson.

Achilles is right. Robin Vos is a coward and a complete waste of time for the WI GOP. Too much time in Madison.

Wendybar and Achilles: I am not defending operators like McConnell. Or Vos. Or many others in the GOPe. The party needs a rebuild.

I hope that clarifies my meaning. Trump had his moment. It’s over. Maybe we can find someone who combines his qualities with greater fluency, cunning, patience, humility, institutional know-how…

We can dream, can’t we?

I'm not so sure. Maricopa County (Phoenix) starting voting day with the tabulators in Republican district all stopping. The D candidate for Governor is in charge of voting. George Soros put her there for a reason.

The Democrats are getting very good at this. Remember how Obama turned off credit card validation in 2008 so no one could know where his donations came from? That was the start.

Owen said...

Michael K @12:39: “…Obama turned off credit card validation in 2008…”

I sure do remember. I tested the donation system with obviously fake ID and they happily took my money. When I reported this to my colleagues and friends, there was polite disbelief. I guess nobody wanted to deal with that ugly thing floating in the electoral punchbowl, but it convinced me that the man and his operation were not ever to be trusted in any way.

The CTH has a very good post on this.

Whitmer and Fetterman were not campaigning for votes, that is old school. Instead, the machinery behind both candidates focused on the modern path. The Democrat machines in both states focused on ballot collection and ignored the irrelevant votes as cast.

Since the advent of ballot centric focus through mail-in and collection drop-off processes, votes have become increasingly less valuable amid the organizers who wish to control election outcomes. As a direct and specific result, ballot collection has become the key to Democrat party success.

The effort to attain votes for candidates is less important than the strategy of collecting ballots.

This does much to explain the Democrat's willingness to hide in basements and avoid debates

Just off the top of my head, I believe Murkowski did in 2010. And before that? Linda Smith( WA-03) in 1994 knocking off Jolene Unsoeld (D)
