I wonder which "national party" is expressing this anxiety to The Washington Post — which party relied on Twitter moderation to protect its interests in the run-up to the elections.
President Biden on Friday criticized Twitter’s role in spreading false information. “Elon Musk goes out and buys an outfit that spews lies all across the world,” he said while attending a political fundraiser in Chicago. “There’s no editors anymore in America.”...
No editors. People can just speak freely... unfiltered. People can just lie. Without "editors," who will enable one side to out-lie the other?

Did you or any of the Twitter staff you’re speaking to ‘sound the alarm’ when the decision was taken to suppress the @nypost scoop on Hunter Biden’s laptop - to help his father win the 2020 election? https://t.co/SxkZfcUO0l

I watch very little Fox News; I glance at it and at our friends at MSNBC the day of and after election day.
"Elon Musk goes out and buys an outfit that spews lies all across the world" - so, Joe, it was already spewing lies all across the world?

once you realize that "democracy" is how they pronounce "democrat party", it All makes much more sense
How many people will vote based on what they read on Twitter after Musk took over?
Answer: zero.
As always, we are awash in never ending BS.
representative from one of the national party committees said they are seeing hours-long delays in responses from their contacts at Twitter
That is a weird fucking thing to write, as if it's no big deal.
What do you mean, your contacts at Twitter?
Why does this strange unnamed political party (I wonder who it could be!) have contacts in a major communications medium, that's supposed to be open and above-board and neutral, you know.
They're not your fucking employees, are they?!
What kind of boss bitches that their employees have not responded in a couple of hours. On a Friday? On a Saturday? They don't work for you, shit-for-brains. (Or do they?!)
They owe you nothing. (Or do they?!)
Did you buy Twitter loyalty, and you expect a response? ASAP?
I sent an e-mail to my brother a couple of weeks ago, he still hasn't responded.
Alert the media!
What's going on!
How dare he not respond immediately!
This is a major story that has to be shared with the Washington Post!
Who gives a shit if somebody hasn't responded to you in a couple of hours? I get why loved ones might be pissed. But why is an unnamed (ha!) political party pissed that the neutral "contacts at Twitter" haven't tweeted or some damn shit in 120 minutes?
I realize Pravda media is in a meltdown mode right now, and they think we're at the end-times. ("We're going to lose the Senate and the House and Twitter, all in one week!")
But if you were actually journalists, you might take a step back from this panic at DNC headquarters and wonder about who owns who at Twitter.
All Elon Musk did was buy a company. You've known he was going to buy the company. He was kind of amazed at how few coders there were at Twitter, and how the company was filled with people who had no coding skills. And so he let a lot of those political hacks go. I realize that's distressing for the owners of the political hacks. Payments made? Or just distress for your comrades in arms? But what's obvious to the WaPo reader who's paying attention (and Althouse is mighty fine at focusing our attention, is she not??), is that you are not fucking neutral at all, WaPo. You are a biased news source. A major news story was dropped in your lap and you didn't even notice it.
Kremlin Unhappy That American Billionaire Has Fired a Bunch of Pravda Hacks
That might be a little one-sided headline, right? But that's where my right-wing brain goes. Maybe a story there. Maybe you would see it, if you had any fucking Republicans in your office, you joke of a newspaper.

Going after twitter
political campaigns are gripped with anxiety over how to address election misinformation and potential threats
This fucking narrative is so obviously propaganda that I want to go up to Robert Redford and/or Dustin Hoffman and slap the shit out of them on the street.
I had some fucking idea that maybe there were at least some journalists at the Washington Post. I know they all vote Democratic, but I would at least hope there would be some effort to do your fucking job.
Bob Woodward pretending he's a Republican. Robert Redford pretending to be Bob Woodward pretending to be a Republican.
If you got out of your one-party hellhole for ten seconds, you might contemplate that there are people who don't subscribe to your shitty narratives! And they are going to mock the shit out of you. Maybe in public!
What a bad fucking day at the WaPo. Speaking of "lack of editors," who signed off on that shit?

Scary part for America is their liberal supporters actually believe them. Or at least pretend to.
Mr. Obvious asks the WP: Please go back and review Twitter's accuracy record for Hillary's "Russia, Russia, Russia" years long campaign of lies and the Hunter Biden laptop story.
So Twitter has been an agent, at no fee or cost, to a political party for the purpose of providing communications at request to support the political goals of that party.
Can Twitter donate such services to a party for free as an unbounded campaign donation legally? Perhaps, but the shareholders were screwed by having their profits reduced by action of the board.
they are seeing hours-long delays in responses from their contacts at Twitter
What's the theory, that Musk has locked them in his basement?
Why is anybody in the universe supposed to be freaking out that wonderful employees at Twitter are not calling the DNC as quickly as they used to?
It's funny as shit to us! But I would think it's kind of weird that a major periodical in Washington D.C. doesn't notice (or think it odd) that the DNC is acting like it owns Twitter.
When did that happen?
I thought Musk bought Twitter.
DNC is all, "We own Twitter and that fucker Musk just bought it from us. And we didn't even get any money!"

Don’t be surprised when Elon becomes the scapegoat for the midterm wipeout and the weaponized left then tries to destroy Twitter.
They are already doing this.
It is the giant corporations that are leading the charge and pulling their advertising from twitter.
Elon is going to have to institute micro-transactions to generate revenue for Twitter. Micro-transactions are how block chains prevent spam transactions from blocking the network and how they generate revenue to support block propagation. Block propagation is how block chains process and validate transactions.
At some point in the fairly near future the Citizens of the United States in the Republican Party are going to realize they have to use the government to break up the multinational corporations that are controlling the common social spaces in our country.
Nobody has been laid off yet from Twitter.
They have been notified that they will be laid off on February 3,2023.
Until then, they continue to legally be Twitter "employees" with full pay and benefits. On Feb 3 they will be terminated and given severance packages.
This satisfies the 90 day advance notice law on mass layoffs.
Seems like a pretty sweet deal to me. Full paychecks while transitioning to those companies so eager to snatch them up.

election offices that have counted on the social network’s staff to help them combat violent threats and viral lies...
I know the Washington Post isn't a business or anything. It's a sacred trust! But you would think somebody who signs the paychecks (oh shit, it's Jeff Bezos, and he hates Elon Musk!) would notice that in the media narrative that we're all supposed to believe...
Twitter and the Washington Post are competitors. They are competing with each other for readers and trying to win the media wars. That's how it went in the Bob Woodward and Dustin Hoffman neutral movie that is totally fair and unbiased. The Washington Post and the New York Times are competitors, and they're just trying to do their job.
If I was running a newspaper, another headline I might try is
News Rag Owned By Billionaire Jeff Bezos is Unhappy That Twitter Was Bought By Billionaire Elon Musk.
In my world, the fucking billionaires don't tell me how to think or what to say. I do my own thinking and speaking. So why are you so bought and paid for and unable to come up with an independent thought other than regurgitating the insane propaganda being put out by the desperate DNC a few days before zero hour?
Hey, is the show trial over?! Fuck, I missed it.
The crescendo of breathlessness makes it sound as if civilization itself is in peril without Twitter. OMG! How did we ever get by without those noble people? And how will we manage to make the proper election decision without these noble people "on call this weekend and early next week to monitor for signs of foreign disinformation, spam and other problematic content around the election." I mean, don't we all depend on Twitter to know how to vote?
Note: in their vernacular, the word 'foreign' means anything coming out of places that are not New York, San Francisco, or Washington DC.
The word 'problematic' means anything not approved by the Democratic Party or the faculty at Smith College.
How did we go from 'It's Morning in America' to "There’s no editors anymore in America."? It's quite a fall.
Jeff Bezos: "I bought the Washington Post and it's all good, don't even look at me. Not changing a thing!"
"Okay."
Elon Musk: "I bought Twitter and it was kind of expensive and I'm going to try to figure out ways to make it more profitable and a better experience for users. There might be some changes."
"Oh shit! Oh shit! Changes? You're making changes? Who said you can make changes?! I was so much happier when billionaires made empty promises! I like my billionaires to be sneaky and nefarious. Not open and honest! Holy fuck! An open and honest billionaire? That's some sick shit. I don't even know what to do with myself, I'm so upset. What the fuck is up with you, Elon Musk, and your open and honest nature? I am not talking to you! No, wait. Your employees are not talking to me! Holy shit I'm upset again."
“I wonder which "national party" is expressing this anxiety to The Washington Post — which party relied on Twitter moderation to protect its interests in the run-up to the elections.”
We ALL know which one because WaPo never writes about MY concerns about social media.
Gee customer service sucks all over. Didn’t realize the check mark meant valet service. Sounds like democrats POUNCING to me.

PS- I think Elon will figure this out and it'll result in a better product, with more and more people wanting to take part in it, and advertisers will be standing in line to get in on the business.
Be prepared for more beating of breasts, tearing of hair, and gnashing of teeth when they do try to come back and Elon triples their advertising rates.
"...they are seeing hours-long delays in responses from their contacts at Twitter."
Did Twitter have a 24x7 DNC response desk in their DNC support center?
" [A] representative from one of the national party committees said they are seeing hours-long delays in responses from their contacts at Twitter"
Wow. They didn't think that one through before publishing it.
Who hangs on Twitter for the latest on election news or what to think.
Battlefield prep for Democrats to justify their stealing the election this coming week.
Democracy Dies in Darkness!
Do the dems really think Twitter has an impact on how people vote? I find it dubious. Especially four days before election day. Their people have already voted.
Elon's Coming!
"And the cards say, a broken heart..."
If you'd like to see a truly nauseating 4 minute intro to a listless 1970's polyester rendition, watch this.
(Early on, watch the people in the front row wave away the theatrical smoke from their faces.)
Strikes me as odd and inappropriate in the extreme that members of national parties are in contact with the censors at Twitter. Musk's purchase and management of Twitter may turn out to be the best thing to happen to free speech in decades.
I'd like a serious explanation of what these people mean when they talk about some possible "foreign interference" in the election that they need Twitter to tamp down immediately or it might swing the election. Are they talking about fake news that might pop up on Twitter that's supposed to keep people from voting, or cause them to vote for a different candidate? That sounds kind of preposterous. Most voters (R and D) are pretty well cocooned in terms of the media they consume. It's hard to imagine some random story they would hear about on social media (but only there) being taken so seriously that it's suddenly going to change their whole outlook on the election. The idea that it represents some sort of national electoral crisis that Twitter can't be counted on to squelch such a story, should one materialize in the next four days, is crazy.
I have heard stories in the past about people getting phone calls telling them election day has been postponed a week, so don't bother to vote this Tuesday. Although those stories may be BS anyway, I would say that anyone dumb enough to fall for something like that really shouldn't be voting. (Or at least it doesn't undermine "democracy" if idiots like that don't vote.)

Achilles, we need to be aware of which corporations are pulling their ads from Twitter and cease to support them in the field. Why would I use a company's products or services if they think so little of me and my freedom? Are they seriously all in for censorship? Fine. Let them have it. And I'll go another way. They are being directed by far left groups to walk away from Twitter. If they are led this way, why would I give them any of my money?
I won't. GM and Audi- easy enough to ignore for me. General Mills. Simple. Who's next? Who else doesn't want our money?
What do you think the ESG movement is about?
The movement in corporate space has been towards consolidation. We used to have 200 drug companies. Then it was 50. Now it is 3 or 4.
This is done because the federal government has grown and bureaucratic regulation is driving small companies into the large conglomerates. Every company has to have a legal and HR department now because they get torn apart by lawyers if they don't.
Big government and Big Corp have created an Overhead Class that doesn't really do much and just leaches off the productive parts of the company. They then institute a Bureaucratic Tyranny through HR and Legal departments. A giant corp like Pfizer is little different fundamentally than the FDA that regulates it and indeed the same people move between jobs in both companies. Pfizer and the NIH and CDC are similarly cross infested and symbiotic.
This is the crux of the latest political realignment.
It is the laptop/HR class vs. the working/productive class.
We had akready had 2 facts backed up by discovery established:
1) New Soviet Democratical party members and staffers have long had direct access to twitter staffers whereby the New Soviet Demicraticals directed twitter to kill stories and information detrimental to New Soviet Democraticals
2) twitter has long worked with New Soviet Democratical-aligned deep staters in the US national security agencies to suppress stories and information detrimental to New Soviet Democraticals
These 2 facts are the very definition of fascism, despite how desperately the New Soviet Democraticals have attempted to change the definition of that word, like all the other words the New Soviet Democraticals have redefined on what seems a daily basis.
Bigga problem with the election fortifications this time. The draw bridge is under new management, draw bridge raisers have been fired and the moron hordes are massing right outside. Shit! Without the drawbridge raisers all those people on the hillbilly spectrum can just waltz right in! And they're biters too! They don't have many teeth, but their gums are like...super gnarly. They eat corn on the cob with their gums all the time, so don't assume they won't take a chunk out of you. This is bad.
minnesota farm guy: "Strikes me as odd and inappropriate in the extreme that members of national parties are in contact with the censors at Twitter."

Only members of 1 party are in contact with the censors at twitter....take a guess which one...

Remember when they said the internet was going to be an Information Superhighway?
Now they're telling us it's supposed to be a checkpoint manned by the secret police.

Original Mike: "Do the dems really think Twitter has an impact on how people vote? I find it dubious. Especially four days before election day. Their people have already voted."
The New Soviet Democraticals are most concerned about what will be said and not censored about the cheating they are ckearly planning for election day and beyond, particularly in PA, WI and MI.
"The New Soviet Democraticals are most concerned about what will be said and not censored about the cheating they are ckearly planning for election day and beyond, particularly in PA, WI and MI."
Ohhh… [light bulb appears above head].
Thanks for the laughs.
I know that the article doesn't identify which "parties" have Twitter employees on speed dial, or what kind of "misinformation" they think is so potentially harmful to democracy (especially since I understand that "misinformation" means "wrong information spread inadvertently" - shouldn't they have said "dis- or mis-"?). But...
... I've been struggling all morning to try to formulate an ethical way to interpret what the article describes.
Biden is correct that Twitter spews lies across the world. After all, we've seen hundreds of clips of Joe Biden speaking on Twitter.
Quo erat demonstrandum.
The former Twitter employees are sad their gravy train at the woke country club is over.
Great exchanges here. All I add is that the left should be careful about making Elon Musk into the New Trump, since they also seem to think they need Trump himself to be the number one target for 2024. Can't be too nutso about Elon or Ron DeSantis when you want your Top Devil to continue to serve his purposes. But then that presuppose these lefties have a two-year time horizon in their thinking -- rather than the two-day limit that appears to be operating most of the time for them. I mean the Pelosi intruder was the October surprise of the first half of this week. But now already it's Elon Musk. Who will it be next Monday morning?
Boo fucking hoo.
I've been through the tech roller coaster when nobody made the big bucks they do now.
Welcome to life.
Everyone should panic because the platform is built on sticks and is probably going to fall down before the election, so it won't be available to dispense accurate information about the election. And it's also going to dispense a lot of unverified claims, mostly from election deniers, which means republicans. And you cannot work there, despite half the workforce continuing to work there.
Since there are no more hall monitors, according to Ben Collins' sources, who does Ben believe should be the new arbiters of twitter information vs. misinformation, you ask? You will be surprised to lean that Ben believes he is just the man for that job.
No editors, but 3 bylined writers and 4 contributors to that particular propaganda piece.
This amazing article is quite encouraging on the improvements that have been made to election integrity since 2020. I'm still worried about fraud in certain precincts...
Thank the Election Integrity Movement
The proper phrase is "There ARE no editors anymore."
And even Althouse lets it slide.
I am losing my faith in all of the institutions. We are doomed, I tell ya.
At moments like this, where the mainstream media blithely reports a major social media platform working as an arm of the Democrat party, I like to recall that Facebook sold select data to a Republican constultant company. Facebook was reviled for doing so. Facebook also self-reported allowing the Obama campaign full and free access to all Facebook databases for campaign purposes, without a peep from the media about it.
Facebook's more recent provision of hundreds of millions of dollars to get the vote out for Democrats in 2020 seems mildly biased in comparison.
Interesting twist on “name that party.”
"I wonder which "national party" is expressing this anxiety to The Washington Post"
Yeah, that one's a real difficult one to figure it out. Maybe I should ask Alexa.

I don't know what I was thinking by not pinpointing the Dems. I must not have been paying attention.
"Their people have already voted."
That doesn't mean they're done. "Early and often", as the saying goes.
"election offices that have counted on the social network’s staff to help them combat violent threats and viral lies."
If you didn't know better, you might be inclined to suppose that one of the functions that election offices perform in a modern society is combating violent threats and viral lies. Of course, that is entirely false.

It's always nice when the New Soviet Democratical NPC-bots self-identify. Makes life easier.
They aren't worried about Tweets influencing the way people vote. That's a bullshit line designed to hide the ball. They are worried about the Tweets coming out after the voting is done and the counting starts, controlling the flow of information about which races are under scrutiny and why.
Remember that something like three-quarters of Democrats came to believe not that the Russians bought some ads on FaceBook and got Trump elected but had actually changed vote totals in order to do it.
