I'm transitioning my support for Florida's Governor.
I found myself (in my mind's eye) advising the Florida governor on how he should handle it.
Tell donors you are not going to be Donald; you are going to be better.
Tell Trump supporters you are going to pick up where Donald left off. Don't be afraid of Trump supporters.
And you got to do this, and this may be the hardest part, without using Trump's name.
As soon as anybody says Trump, the focus on somebody else is completely lost. DeSantis will just turn into another prop a la Chris Christi standing behind the future president.
If and when you sparingly have to use his name, call him Donald, or, if praising him, call him the 45th president.
If he's really a deity, don't use his name.
I sure am ready for Donald Trump to announce that he already is running for the 2024 Presidential election.
I hope that Ron DeSantis will run too, but maybe he will wait until a later election.
If so, then somebody else will run against Trump. I think Chris Christie might run.
The Republican Party's method for choosing its nominee is its primary-election race. That method is good and fair.
In the 206 primary-election race, I voted for Ted Cruz. Later, however, I came to understand that Cruz probably would have lost the general-election race that Trump did win against Hillary Clinton.
If Trump is so stupid today that he announces his presidential campaign, then I am 1000% out with him.
I voted for him in the last 2 elections. I gave him money. I did literature drops for him in my county, spending all of my time on a Saturday going house to house. I put a bumper sticker on my Chevy pickup that was keyed when I parked it in a local liberal college town. I attended fundraisers for him and contributed money to his campaign. I handed out his literature at the local county fair and in parades. I was a poll watcher as his last 2 elections. I could go on and on. Friends and co-workers stopped socializing with me because of my support of Trump.
But enough is enough. I am really tired of losing. Trump is a loser, and he has to go.

I don't know about you, but I CAN'T WAIT to go back to the GOPe plantation. I've learned my lesson. It's cold out here in the desert at night. The Democrats that stayed on their plantation look so warm and happy. Those masks really do help block the wind on a cold day. Freedom is selfish anyway.

I voted for Trump twice. He struggled with the swamp, the Dims, the Hildebeest, and the whole MSM press establishment. Despite all that he did a pretty good job while in office. Mean tweets? Meh. Didn't bother me--certainly bothered me less than the knives in the back he got during his term.
But I'm older; he's older; and I'm suffering from a bit of Trump Fatigue. He can still generate "yuuge" crowds--but then so did William Jennings Bryant who ran for the Presidency several times without ever winning.

You might want to focus more on getting the baby formula shortage resolved. Trump is free to run in 2024. Those in the Republican Party who oppose him are free to vote against him in the primaries and caucuses. Should be a lot of fun. I guess we will learn if any of the anti-Trump GOP politicians have the courage of their convictions and step into the race to challenge him.
Look, I think Ron DeSantis will run, and will defeat Trump in the primaries easily- I think it would be clearly over after South Carolina. So, everyone, who should run against Trump if DeSantis doesn't? Will the party discourage all but one alternative? Will things go like 2016 when a bunch political midgets plus Ted Cruz split the vote enough to give Trump a path in the first place?
What I am saying it this- you shouldn't fear Trump running again for the nomination- if you don't like it, then vote to nominate someone else. If you are afraid no one can beat him for the nomination, then your position is self-contradicting because that same no one would lose to Biden even worse. Let the battle begin.
Just as the stock market exploded higher after Trump was elected in 2016, it will go down with his announcement of a new campaign. The selloff -- if that happens, ok; think it's about to -- is for good and sufficient reason. But they will blame downside market action on Trump and his announcement. He can't win for losing. DeSantis' biggest advantage over Trump. DeSantis can go full anti-mRNA "vaccine". Trump can't.

I suppose you could argue he's a loser because he should have opposed the Covid lockdowns and general hysteria, which was the basis for the move to mass mail-in balloting, which in turn enabled the Democrsts to steal the election, but I am not sure anyone else would have done so if they had been in Trump's position.
