"And for the gender fluid, she offers 'non-flat' surgery, leaving enough breast tissue so that on some days patients can have a 'perky breast' with cleavage and on other days they can bind their breasts."

Just a snippet of "A gender imbalance emerges among trans teens seeking treatment" (Reuters).

Let's not talk about the subject of trans people in general.

The post raises a very specific topic. I didn't post to say let's talk about trans again but to say here's something you may not have seen before. It's a new topic: flexible, gender-fluid breasts (achieved through surgery). This is more like the breast-reduction surgery women get not because of gender dysphoria but just because they have breasts that they consider too large. There's a lot to be said for smaller breasts!

My middle sister had breast reduction surgery when she turned 18.

She was a very attractive, slim young woman who became hugely endowed as a teenager. As such, all kinds of guys were hitting on her and she was tired of it. 40+ years later, she has few regrets, but having that "flexibility" option might have appealed to her.

It's funny how so many women have issues with their breasts because it is something that men pay a lot of attention to.

When I was divorced and dating in my mid-50s, I dated three women with breast enlargement. I asked one if they were real and she responded "Yes. They are real expensive".

That sentence very nicely sums up the faddish madness of this transitioning-on-whim epidemic.

So then, what's left after a transgender PowerPoint presentation? I've got it! - flexible, gender-fluid breasts!

Hedge your bets as a hermaphrodite. You too can be a utility player, competent in all positions.

Everything is converging. From gene splicing and cloning, robotics and prosthetics and AI down to tattooing and piercings. In the future people will be redesigning their bodies to express their individuality, and at some point, they may not even be people anymore, but some kind of human-machine hybrid. Better living as a chimera. But if modern industrial civilization really is unsustainable, how long can this consumer body-sculpting go on?

I never had the problem, but my mother had large breasts that developed early. She was short, too, a cute little redhead. Men were always ogling and trying to grope her. Ugh.

Anyway, lurking on the trans/detrans subreddits, I learned that you actually change your sex if you're not happy with the way you were born.

Are we to do boob jobs on every teen girl who is uncomfortable about them?

Tim: Harper Lee was very negative towards females in the book version of To Kill a Mockingbird. Adult females are presented as crude caricatures, and Atticus doesn't believe women have the mentality be permitted on juries. From an early age, Lee was immersed in ugly stereotypes about women: nobody, including the character she based on herself, seems to feel that the repeated incest-rape of Mayella Ewell by Ewell's father is a matter that should be addressed by the justice system, nor that his extralegal murder (rather than prosecution) is problematic -- in a book dedicated to opposing extralegal murders. Hollywood cut out these incoherencies and some key characters in order to make Atticus a pure hero.

After following Truman Capote to NYC, Lee returned to Monroeville and lived out her life with her sister, who was a respected attorney when few women were permitted to practice. Lee was likely gay but very private -- as was her prerogative. Was she groomed to reject femininity and motherhood just as modern young women are being groomed now?

I don't see sliding scale breast reduction being anything more than the latest comeuppance in the radical race up Victimization Mountain. Next they'll be calling full transgenders cis-transgender, just as transgenders call gays and lesbians cis-sexuals, just at gays and lesbians call heterosexuals cis-sexuals. Boy, are the gays and lesbians I know quietly seething now that they're on the receiving end of slurs they cast on others. Revolutions never stop bloodletting until all the corpses are drained.

Breast reductions for health reasons are a different kettle of fish. I have two friends who could finally play sports and live without knee and back pain after having them. Do over-endowed men have similar problems?

tim maguire said...

I take that as an indication they haven't really thought it through yet and if they think they want to switch back and forth, maybe surgery is not called for.

This is not that.

At least one of these girls is suing. Chloe Cole is suing Kaiser Permanente for all the trans support she got as a teen, including top surgery. Good luck with that! Child and parent sign all sorts of waivers.

I have a theory that kids 14 and over are responsible in fact if not in law. But legally they're in this grey area where they can blame everyone else, even as they know - they know! - that they wanted this, moved heaven and earth and threatened suicide if they didn't get their way.

Autonomy, good and hard.

Static Ping said...

No, it does not make it any better. The problem is there a factual basis of sex, as it serves the most important function of the human race: reproduction. This surgery is irrelevant to that fact. All it does is mutilate a confused person in order to fit the person's self-selected gender stereotypes. Typically, stereotypes are overgeneralizations and often subject to change, if not simply concocted or outright false. Surgery to match stereotypes is insane.

Surgery to reduce breast size when the breasts are causing physical problems is a completely different matter. You cannot fix something that is not broken.

Most Romance languages.

Back when they were evolving from the local dialects of Vulgar Latin into the early forms of Spanish/Italian/Portuguese/etc, the locals stopped using the different case endings. The forms of the masculine and neuter were close enough that the two (mostly) merged into a new, larger masculine gender. That's why Romance languages tend to have more masculine than feminine nouns.

Mark said...

Seems to me whether they are lopping off breasts with a full mastectomy or cutting them off only partially that they are actually removing the gender fluid. One of the problems is that this is if fact completely irreversible. They can later put in breast implants, as if all they are good for is to be fun bags. But the actual purpose of the breasts - to produce milk for babies - is either severely damaged or destroyed.

And that's a problem.

Profit through Corruption. Transgender normalization through political congruence ("="). This is how they convinced women to adopt bigotry with prejudice, men to seek "benefits" in lieu of relationships, boys to take a knee to groomers, and girls to fuck and sequester the "burden" of evidence in darkness. New breasts, new penis, one less "burden", a new identity in a forward-looking backward world. Nice.

“yeet the teets” and “Come to Miami to see me and the rest of the De Titty Committee,” is this Doctor's advertising.

This leads me to believe this doctor has no real interest in his patients. It's a money mill. For those who really aren't sure about it the Doc is willing to do a half and half. Either way it's a dollar in his pocket.

The article does make one good point. It used to be majority males going transgender, but it is majority female now. One of the reasons was to avoid "early sexualization" of young girls. I can see how that is a frightening thing to a young female, and it's not just the groomers in the school system. It's widespread in our culture. Music, film, advertising, fashion, it's ubiquitous. The solution this Doc is promoting is to cut off your tits so you don't get raped.

I've known two women who've had breast reduction and both said what a relief it was. The surgery may be similar but it ain't the same thing.

Jamie said...

This is exactly where this gender-fluid utili-breasts thing will lead. And exactly what I meant when I asked if we can just admit it's not emotional health but fashion.

But we won't be allowed to. We will have to acknowledge the deep pain that not having a magic expando/deflato-bosom is causing the poor young person, and the poor young person will have a legal right to have said utili-breasts installed on the insurance company's dime, and the poor young person will be granted special identity-group victim status because of the historical oppression of the unchanging-breasted. None will dare call it fashion - it must be trumpeted that the poor young person will suffer terribly (and illegally, under the Civil Rights Act or something) without Swiss Army surgery to correct the young person's mismatch between the breast needs of the moment and the sad, inflexible mammillary reality.

In the Long Ago Time, before Democratic Party Lords of the Flies took over the medical industry, breast reduction was indeed covered by medical insurance. Many women experience back pain and mobility issues from 'very large' breasts. Specifically, breasts the size of those huge silicone p0rn boobs worn by the 2022 biologically male transgendered school teacher. In the Long Ago Time breast enlargement always was elective and cosmetic.

So in the end, this is a story about a genuine medical procedure and a not controversial one. It's just that transgender politics have muddied the waters.

"Hard cases make for bad law." -- Indulging in the sexual identity wishes of mentally unstable people is plainly bad law.

Still, I wouldn’t want to be in Kaiser’s shoes. Did try full disclose that a side effect of the surgery is not just possible, but likely, or even certain (like gender reassignment surgery resulting in sterility). Children signing waivers is pretty pointless - they mostly can’t be held to contracts signed before they are 18.

Most plastic surgeons are ghouls. They've made money for so long by selling bigger breasts, now they realize there's also an income stream by completely cutting them off or maybe just making them Gweneth Paltrow sized.

They only care about how it looks, not sensation a woman might lose. Ghouls.

“There's a lot to be said for all breasts. All breasts matter.”

Just saw 2 of 3 sisters I have known for better than a half century now. Hope to see the 3rd soon. Haven’t talked to the middle one since she was trying to get me to save her friend, who was unsuccessfully trying to raise a teenaged son as a single mom. Told her that I liked her, and to check back in 4 years, when he was 18. This friend carried her grudge against me for 20 years, but now everything is forgiven. BTW - asked her about this friend, and she apparently turned into an alcoholic (not surprising in a very successful Realtor), and they had drifted apart.

In any case, all three are breast size impaired, as is their mother. Funny thing is that none of them ever seemed bothered by their flattish chests. All are still very feminine (not so much their 101 year old mother). I have never understood the apparent need by so many women for large breasts, esp after their youngest is beyond the nursing stage. Why not just cut them off at that point. I ask my 34DD partner about this, esp given her back issues, and she replies that it would be losing a part of herself. I respond that if I had liposuction, I wouldn’t miss the fat deposits removed, despite them being part of me. Still, if I were a woman, I think that I would prefer smaller tits. Maybe somewhere between A and B cups, so that they can be accentuated or underplayed, as desired right then. Very much I think like talked about here.

Carol said...

Of course. That's why the parent involvement. Seems like you'd have to sue your parent too. What a mess. But it's going to be interesting. We'll see how medicine's big CYA holds up.

Maybe it's my age, but the worst thing to me is the destruction of families. If thy toxic parent offends thee, cast them out of your life forever if they opposed transition or supported it, either way.

Good grief. Tits/no tits/some tits. Penis/vagina/both/neither. Your new penis can be reconstructed from your forearm (American average) or your thigh (swingin’ to your knees). Medically approved mutilation for extremity amputations, surgical blindness and similar will be advocated by the claque afflicted with body dysmorphic disorder. Health insurance companies are marshalling their arguments. By current metrics they’re gonna lose this one too.

n.n said...

OWN your regret and don't blame anybody else for your choice.

That would assume informed consent. Misrepresentation of sex (i.e. genetic) and gender (i.e. sex-correlated attributes) is fraud. Feeding on confused states that are common in underage boys and girls is wicked. There is a reason why choice is legally contentious in that age cohort, and why civilized society generally discourages Choice to mitigate forward-looking individual, societal, and human sacrifice.
