Two right-wing political operatives have pleaded guilty in Ohio to a telecommunications fraud charge for arranging thousands of robocalls that falsely claimed that the information voters included with mail ballots could be used by law enforcement and debt collectors, prosecutors said.

The operatives, Jacob Wohl, 24, of Los Angeles, and Jack Burkman, 56, of Arlington, Va., entered their pleas on Monday in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court in Cleveland, prosecutors said.

The men were indicted in 2020 after they were accused of using the robocalls to intimidate residents in minority neighborhoods to refrain from voting by mail at a time when many voters were reluctant to cast ballots in person because of the coronavirus pandemic. The calls also claimed that the government could use mail-in voting information to track people for mandatory vaccination programs, prosecutors said.

Not sure why, but I am nervous as heck for the Oz Fetterman debate. I hope Oz crushes the hulking brute! Of all the senate races, I want the R to win this one the most. Go Doc!!

And your city was gone.

Neat trick.

They say our relations with Saudi Arabia are at an all-time low. Relations between Biden and whoever runs that country are embittered and have gotten personal. This why senators make crummy presidents. They take all kinds of stands that have little effect in the real world. Even if you chair the Foreign Relations Committee your poses and posturings don't make anything happen. Presidents spend a lot of time trying to get around them. But if you're a senator with a senatorial staff you are too self-important to realize that.

After all the insistence over calling Jill Biden "Dr. Biden" it seems silly that the debate moderators are calling Dr. Oz "Mr. Oz".

Uncle Festerman did well in the debate tonight against Oz. Or not. lol

I'm going with the second option. Very strongly "or not". That was sad and uncomfortable to watch.

I avoid some TV shows (certain sit-coms) that rely on putting a character in uncomfortable, embarrassing situations. I get secondhand stress watching those. That's how I felt watching this debate.

If Joe Biden were a woman and John Fetterman were a woman, and both were as easily confused as these men are now, would we just let it happen, as we are doing, or would we demand that their husbands stop the abuse?

I had an account nuked (permanently suspended) on Twitter for this chestnut:

"To celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day, I go to the next town over, kidnap one of their men, drag him to the top of the city hall steps, cut out his heart, eat it, and kick is still twitching body back down the steps."

It was an absurdist joke criticizing the reactionary practice of observing Indigenous Peoples Day in lieu of Columbus Day, but it was too violent for Twitter.

Darn.

Simplification is always better. We should use descriptive terms "First Lady" and "Carpetbagger" instead.

@gadfly, so “Brain-damaged hulk” for Oz’s opponent?

wendybar said...

gadfly, I would use the descriptive term "Installed first lady of Biden Corruption" and Dr. Oz who is was an ACTUAL cardiothoracic surgeon. There. I fixed it for you.

Or you can just call her the elder abuser she really is.

We should also remember that "first lady" isn't an actual position and stop treating it like it is. Eliminate her staff, her budget, stop putting her in charge of initiatives, and stop sticking a microphone in her face like she has something to say that people should listen to. The American people should barely be aware of her existence.

That's what true simplification looks like.

The difference between most Americans and the Progressive left.

@leezeldin: "She still hasn’t talked about locking up anyone committing any crimes.”

Democrat Kathy Hochul: "I don’t know why that’s so important to you.”

She could give two shits for all the crime going down in NYC that is destroying the city. Progressives care more about the corrupt and the criminals. Wake up.

If algorithms ever evidence any sense of humor it’s accidental. If human reviewers at Twitter ever do, it’s cause for dismissal.

So Finland looks ready to agree to allow nuclear weapons directly on Russia's border, which means that nuclear war is on a hair trigger going forward, but don’t worry, the Union of Concerned Scientists won’t move the Doomsday to one second to midnight, so sleep well, don’t worry about your grandchildren.

Known Unknown, next time recreate My Lai on Veterans Day and Memorial Day, maybe that will get a better response.

"Since Donald Trump dispatched her via the brilliance of the United States Constitution and the Electoral College, Hillary has a habit of going underground for months at a time, then barfing her presence all over any media outlet she can find for several weeks.
The clinically insane woman goes on to “Blah, blah, blah, derp, derp,” managing to complain about the Supreme Court, the Electoral College, and the fact that Republicans control most of the state legislatures in the United States almost all in one wine-fouled breath.
It’s obvious that she isn’t going to go away. I’m revising my 2020 assessment. Hillary isn’t a chronic political STD.

She’s a cancer."

Our stealth F-35s , if they work as advertised, could carry out a first strike before anybody in Moscow knew what was happening. Wouldn’t that be great!

I watched some clips of Fetterman's performance last night. He began with, "Hi, good night." As others commented, it was unpleasant and difficult to watch. Too excruciating to be comical. My honest takeaway: somewhere out there is a wife even more cruel than Jill Biden.

As for Oz, I don't really care much for him. But he's comfortable in front of a camera, and came across as intelligent and likeable. His political game has improved. He presented himself as a reasonable alternative.

I sincerely hope last night changed some minds. For the Republicans to win the Senate would be a ray of light in a dark year. Even though they're sure to disappoint, at least they can stop some of the bleeding.

"The MSM told us that Donald Trump conspired with Russia to steal an election. They continued the lie even after Special Counsel Robert Mueller reluctantly exonerated Trump of any such crime -- pumping up the narrative bubble. We were told that BLM riots were “mostly peaceful.” But we saw buildings burned, people murdered, and businesses looted. The bubble grew.

Now they’re telling us that we’re not actually in a recession -- and recessions don’t matter. We’re expected to believe that the economy is sound -- as we watch our retirement accounts evaporate and we consume our savings to survive. The lie is obvious, and the bubble is straining to contain the narrative.

We’ve learned that we can’t trust the media, the government bureaucracy, or the political party the left controls. We’ll no longer support the causes they champion, because propaganda exposed is a narrative ignored."

Best comment from the Fetterman/ Wizard of Oz debate last: "PR executive Josh Holmes wrote: “I’ve honestly never seen anything like this. The partisanship required to vote for Fetterman at this point should be studied in a lab.”
