We saw "Little Shop of Horrors" today at Issaquah's Village Theatre today. The theatre is still requiring masks, but they dropped the land-acknowledgement statement that they'd been giving last spring. Audrey II was especially creepy and they used a woman to give voice to AII, which made it even creepier.
The relative lack of concern about possible WW3 + Nukes is puzzling me. It's almost as if we are emboldened by recently surviving the most deadly pandemic ever.
Jaded may be the better adjective than emboldened.
If I'm still alive and I have electricity, I'm looking forward to the documentary series about the chain of events that took us from a manufactured virus to near-nuclear extinction in three years. I feel like I could write it, or someone else here could.

I wonder why that’s suddenly in the news considering we’ve known from the start that China kept quiet until after they had their own plan in motion. Hopefully our attitude is changing.
So Vlad the Impaler is now bombing civilian targets (again). Desperate people do desperate things. What will the Vlad do next to save his own skin? The ho-hum attitude of the soiled pants administration towards a nuclear attack is interesting. It's almost as though they are inviting one.
Recall what President Tapioca said prior to Putin's invasion (paraphrasing): "Hey it's OK as long as it's only a minor incursion".
Note: Geiger counters on Ebay are cheap at the moment.
Rt41Rebel: I share your bewilderment as to how we got on this terrible road to Hell. My theory is, the world has been invaded by lizard people from Alpha Centauri masquerading as our leaders, who will soon drive us all to fratricidal extinction, leaving them a slightly used but perfectly good planet.

The casual stupidity of the left and of course the usual suspects here is truly breathtaking. They went all in for this guy and now they'll chew off their own arms rather than owning their mistake and putting the brakes to this nonsense. Look at Biden voters and be amazed that they aren't followed by a line of drool.

You want to avert nuclear armageddon? Pray on it and ask for the Lord's help.
For secularists who say this is useless...
How helpful is it worrying about things outside of your control?
You could set your arm on fire like that anti-airplane guy did at the tennis match. (I'd advise against it).
It's got to be scary and depressing to be an atheist, where there's only one life, faith is useless, and your ability to stop World War 3 is essentially nil.
God is all-powerful and he loves his children. But he's given us a lot of freedom and some of the children are a little scary.
I can't stop World War 3, and neither can you. A president could stop it (theoretically), but that doesn't actually make us feel better, because we realize he could start it, too. (Oops).
God can stop World War 3. So if you want to feel better, ask God to stop it. Ask God sincerely. Beg him. Drop down on your knees and sincerely ask him for help.
--- The casual stupidity of the left and of course the usual suspects here is truly breathtaking.
Yes. And all the rest of us are captive to it. It does look like it will take a nuclear bomb to wake the rank-and-file Democratic voters up from their stupor.
Maddening and scary when you let yourself think about it. How many have to die before they will admit it to themselves? Or will we get lucky and only have to go bankrupt for it to dawn on them?
The internet says that SNL finally did an sketch about how bad things are under Biden. The opening was a mock game show called "So You Think You Won't Snap." At first I read that as "So You Think You Won't Swap," but apparently they haven't reached the point where they want Trump back.
Another thing the internet said, this time in the high speed train story: Morocco is almost as big as Spain and larger than Germany.
Lurker21 said... "Another thing the internet said, this time in the high speed train story: Morocco is almost as big as Spain and larger than Germany." How corrupt is the government of California when the French refuse to do business with them and prefer the government of Morocco because the Moroccans are less corrupt. Damn that's funny.
Also there are two reasons to believe that Putin is bluffing.
1) He is so dependent on China. And China is cautious (overly cautious, look at their COVID landscape). So while Putin is pretending to be a "super power," he's actually got himself into an ugly and useless war, and his primary economic benefactor is not on board with nuclear attacks. (We don't want to get sucked into World War 3, and China really does not want to).
Biden, with his "nuclear armageddon" comment, tanked the markets. So that's given Putin some confidence that his bluff is working. But the EU remains unafraid of Putin, and are continuing to back Ukraine. That's the primary obstacle to Putin's aggression, the rest of Europe. Biden is kind of a non-entity, more of a tag-along guy with a motormouth who is having a lot of senior moments.
2) The problem with nuking Ukraine is that the country is right next to Russia. A lot of Russians would die even if there was no counterstrike. Ukraine's land would be worthless. Russia would be an economic pariah, even worse than now. It would tank the world markets. Putin has already miscalculated and weakened his position internally. I don't see how becoming an even worse pariah state, with a nuclear fallout on his border, helps him.

The first is very dramatic! Dark clouds with the emerging sun, some of the best sunrises.

Not really, no. You might be surprised.
But, being a historian can be scary and depressing, for sure.

Share with me. What is your plan upon your demise?
My plan, Humperdink?
My premise about my demise is, I'll be surprised to find I needed a plan.
I am not sure that's a viable plan. But to each their own.
