Number 9. I love this guy, but he sounds more like a Yooper to my ear than a Wisconsinite. Maybe those “up Nort” Wisconsinites sound more like him. Down here in SE WI I used to hear more accents like this, but not in the last 20 years or so.

I see I put 2 9s. That's going to become 8.

gilbar's girlfriend, back in the early '90's, was a engineering student at Iowa State..
While in school she was CONVINCED, the thing the government NEEDED was to increase taxes on "The Rich"
When she graduated, and got her 1st job.. She was DUMBFOUNDED at how high her taxes were!
WHY were they taking HER money? I tried explaining' that she a engineer was a member "The Rich".
She wouldn't buy it. The Rich should pay for Government, not her.
It always surprises people to find out that THEY are the Rich

Russell Bran's question is the question puzzling me and many other people, I'm sure.

What happened in Uvalde?

Well, get WITH IT.
Step #1 is binding your breasts
Step #2 is hormone therapy
Step #3 is cutting your breasts off
Step #4 is sewing up your vagina
Time is a wasting!! Be WEIRD! BE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.

Meanwhile, my friend Jen's daughter is a member of a Lutheran Missouri Synod Church
Now, THAT'S WEIRD
..the Holy Scriptures differ from all other books in the world in that they are the Word of God.
..Hence the Holy Scriptures are the sole source..
..We reject the doctrine which under the name of science has gained wide popularity in the Church of our day that Holy Scripture is not in all its parts the Word of God
There's lots more, but maybe you get the drift

Ohio lets you opt to register your car once every five years. You pay in advance for the extra four years but it's not a lot per year in any case.

The Toledo War was new to me. That's a heck of a rabbit hole...

Gotta go with "What about the lobster's turmoil?"

Though I love the idea that "Wisconsin nice" cost WI the upper peninsula, they just left it up to Ohio and Michigan to fight it out over which of them got it.

Lady getting a slice of life on car registrations.

I wonder if she's been introduced to gross pay and net pay.

Government has its hand out at every turn. Democrats just ignore that and hope for the best or that the fed-up will be forced to pay for everyone.

If you have to try to be weird, you aren't weird, you're just trying.

1. Whoa! The Toledo War is a real thing! I though Charlie just made that up.

2. Car registration. I have a similar conversation with my daughter every year about something or other. She's 39.

Re: The Toledo War, I had ancestors who lived in northwest Ohio in that area (Defiance County and then Henry County) by 1840. I don't know if they were there in 1835, though; they were still in New York in 1834 when one of my great-great-granduncles was born. Also, the part of the U.P. that Michigan got as a settlement for the border being drawn in Ohio's favor was the western part; the eastern part that included Sault Ste. Marie was already going to be part of Michigan.

#9. #10.

I went to a small college in Hancock, MI for a year, from the Detroit area no less. Had a blast and learned a lot.

Also hiked Isle Royal one year. UP Rules!

Nope. The fight was not over the UP, it was over Toledo, a deep water port and the endpoint of the Erie Canal. Ohio won, Michigan got the resource rich UP and statehood as a consolation prize.

I love the guy who is laughing that his daughter is appalled by the idea of being taxed every year on her vehicle. When she asks why, he doesn't even know. He says so it goes on the roads. That's his answer. I pay it every year so my car goes on the road ha ha you're so silly let me film this. And that's how we let the government take money from our pockets while laughing about it. We socialize it. When our children show the slightest resistance or confusion they are laughed at and made to feel stupid. We pay to register our car every year honey because the government has 200 different way to take your money without saying the word taxes honey, because we all hate that word!

The Erie canal ends near Buffalo. The Erie and Miami canal, which I just read about, connects Cincinnati on the Ohio River and Toledo, and must have been a big deal in the few years before the RR.

I don't know about lobsters but my wife used to spend at least a few minutes every day watching a live feed puppy cam for a Great Dane service dog training facility.
