“The day before the surgery, Trump called me into the Oval Office and motioned for his team to close the door. ‘Are you nervous about the surgery?’ he asked,” Mr. Kushner wrote.
“How do you know about it?” Mr. Kushner responded.
“I’m the president,” Mr. Trump replied, according to Mr. Kushner. “I know everything. I understand that you want to keep these things quiet. I like to keep things like this to myself as well. You’ll be just fine. Don’t worry about anything with work. We have everything covered here.”
I’m the president... I know everything.

That's funny. Good one, Mr. President.
Imagine Biden saying that.
His daughter told him. But he didn't want to rat her out.
I’m the president... I know everything.
I take that to mean Trump saying that, of course, everybody around the president wants to be the first to tell the president anything and everything to enhance their standing.
Yet it probably means Ivanka confided in him, but he didn't want to reveal that, so he invoked everybody/everything proclivity.
Trump didn't know:
1. That the Dems had plans in place to steal the 2020 election; and
2. That the FBI and others had plants in the J6 crowd.
Trump has bad judgment on many things and I hope he is not the nominee.
That's a very parent thing to say ("I'm your father, I know everything") but the President title just adds extra boost to it.
He’s obviously admitting to planning an insurrection.
I tell my kids that all the time. "I'm the dad, I know everything." It's just a humorous boast, not an ego thing. If I were President, I'd have said the exact thing, and we would both know it wasn't strictly true. If I were a Republican, it would be labeled as a toxic ego thing by the press. If I were a Democrat the right would ridicule me for it as well. In politics the casual comment becomes world threatening.
Well, that was nice of the President. Actually, nice.
Yes, let’s pick about a moment about a father-in-law talking about a health issue with his son-in-law in a private setting. How can we spin this to show just how evil Trump is? The current President takes showers with his daughter, but Trump claimed to “know everything” as President, which shows his messiah complex and that he knew of the insurrection in advance, so we know which one is a problem.
"I’m the president... I know everything."
Well, he knew that, didn't he?
What a shock - Ivanka is more loyal to daddy than hubby.
It was humor.
"We have everything covered here" is the funniest line.
Interesting premise for a sci fi novel: Anyone who becomes President also becomes prescient. It has probably been written.
I think that Presidents are not in D.C. long enough to feel that entitled, and critics grab on every error too. However, the career D.C. dwellers behave as if they do know everything.
"Imagine Biden saying that."
Biden: "I'm the President, I know everything."
OK, what truths do we hold to be self evident?
Biden: All men and women created by the...go...you know, you know, THE THING!"
Rocky's gangster boss, "You think I don't hear things?"
It was humor.
Are you sure? Trump is a danger to Democracy and everything he says is meant to further his authoritarian agenda.
He scares me! He is not capable of humor.
How human! And how unusual something like this would be published in the NYT.
Tom Selleck as Police Chief Jesse Stone is asked by a character how Stone know some fact, "I'm the Police Chief . . . I know everything."
Tom Selleck as Commissioner Frank Reagan ("Blue Bloods") is asked by a character how he know some fact, "I'm the Police Commissioner . . . I know everything."
A T-shirt from some grandkids, "Grampa knows everything (and if he doesn't know he makes stuff up really fast)."
It's a cute line . . . .
This tells me a lot about working for Trump. He's the kind of boss most guys would love to work for. Put in your best effort, don't bullshit him, and don't stab him in the back, and he'll have yours.
I’m the president... I know everything.
That is a nice way to lighten the mood as Trump assures him that everything is going to work out.
Try to imagine any other president having that conversation. It isn't hard picturing Obama, George W. or Clinton saying those things. Not Reagan, he'd make a self-deprecating joke. Papa Bush wasn't funny and was the head of the CIA, so no, he wouldn't phrase it like that. That doesn't sound like something Joe Biden would say, but Jill might.

Trump also didn't know he would be so thoroughly betrayed by McConell, Ryan, and Pence.
People like you gave us McCain, Romney, Dole, and Bush x2. How many douchebag Republicans who trashed the J6 protestors do you support?
Fortunately the vast majority of republican voters support Trump and wont make the same mistakes people like you do.
Death of the Ex and SIL cancer reveal right as the J6 noose is tightening. Convenient coincidence to humanize and garner simpathy. Because everything is scripted, right?
“The day before the surgery, Trump called me into the Oval Office ... "
This quote surprises and disappoints me. Trump? Not the President, not Donald Trump, but Trump. Not respectful in my opinion.

Exactly. I wonder why Kushner included that ?
He calls his father-in-law "Trump"?

now he is Shadow
The difference between Trump and Obama, when Obama said he knew everything, he wasn't joking.
Why are people assuming Ivanka blabbed? Wouldn't the President's son-in-law have Secret Service protection? Hasn't Trump always had his own very competent security professionals as well? Shouldn't both of these groups be more loyal to the big boss than to the family members they're guarding? Wouldn't the guards have noticed that Kushner was seeing endocrinologists and oncologists? No doubt he disguised himself so the press and the general public wouldn't know, but the guards would have to know where he was at all times.
That doesn't sound like something Joe Biden would say, but Jill might.
Well, Jill is a DOCTOR(!) so she'd likely be spearheading the treatment.
Dr. Jill Biden for Surgeon General.

Of course he's capable of humor, and that's what it was. I've said that as a mother many times when my daughter asked how I know things about her, "I'm a mother. I know everything." Typical comment from a parent.
You are a good example of TDS. You see everything about him as sinister. At the same time, you're likely ignoring the evidence of mental decline, lying, and family corruption from Biden. Grow up!
"I’m the president... I know everything"
Now imagine it in Joe Biden's voice. Creepy.
Exactly. I wonder why Kushner included that ?
Please. No one other than the lunatic left thinks this makes Trump look evil. Even they probably don't, but will say it anyway. To most normal people it's a genuine family moment, with Trump's usual sense of humor.

Every week for Howard:
The Walls Are Closing In!
The Tipping Point Has Been Reached!
The dossier!
Russia Collusion!
Trump fed the goldfish wrong!
Also:
There is no inflation!
What recession?
There is no grooming in our schools!
CRT is simultaneously taught because its needed AND doesnt exist...all at the same time!
There is no baby formula shortage!
Putin is not getting richer under Biden!
Hunter is a complete innocent!
A comprehensive list would number in the hundreds over just the last 6 years.
jim5301: "What a shock - Ivanka is more loyal to daddy than hubby."
Yes, you read that correctly. That is jim's "big" takeaway.
Thanks for playing jim.i know Howard appreciates you lowering Team Dem's batting avg.
But only everyday.
I have no trouble believing that Jared calls Trump Trump, or that Trump would use a line like that. In fact, I'll bet every president has cracked wise with it in private.

Howard thinks "the J6 noose is tightening." Lizard Cheney should feel the noose tightening. Kinzinger is applying at MacDonalds.

You are correct on #2. But on #1 he did know there were plans in place to steal the election. He couldn't stop swing states (WI, MI, AZ, GA, PA) from violating their own election laws and abusing absentee ballots on the basis of a bullshit COVID excuse.
The US Supreme Court had a chance to rectify all of this but out of fear refused to hear Texas vs. Pennsylvania. Mike Pence also failed through fear and cowardice.
Good thing he didn’t tell Jared “Only I can fix it!”
If I called my father-in-law by his last name, my spouse would engage me in an animated discussion right quick.
Kushner accomplished some things but was under the mistaken impression, much of the time, that he was president. A couple of books about the administration agree on this.
It would be cool if Avi, Cassidy, and Mulvaney were his kids' names, but they aren't.
You are a good example of TDS. You see everything about him as sinister. At the same time, you're likely ignoring the evidence of mental decline, lying, and family corruption from Biden. Grow up!

Lois Lane: You know?!
Clark Kent: What exactly do you know?
Perry White: You know, ... him.
Clark Kent: Oh, you do know.
Lois Lane: How do you know?
Perry White: It's better you don't know. 'Course, I don't know 'officially'. But, let's face it. If a man in my position didn't know, UNofficially, then, well, he wouldn't be a man in my position.
Clark Kent: Thank you, sir. I feel much better knowing that you know.
Lois Lane: Me, too.
Perry White: There is something I'd like you to know, though.
Lois Lane: What's that?
Perry White: The minute you step outside that door, I no longer know.

LOL
The "noose has been tightening" since Election Day for the 2016 election. There was more violence in DC on his Inauguration Day than happened on January 6th. The left doesn't seem to understand the unrelenting attacks on him - especially attacks that fall apart under scrutiny - garner more sympathy for him even from people who don't agree with him.
