Jumped the trout.

Just because fish is both a singular and plural, does that mean that particular fish are singular and plural.

I caught three trouts today sounds fine.

Don't worry, fishy, I'm sure he's about to put you back.

I imagine most directors could have told you that a speckled trout would make a more versatile actor than Winkler.

Why should you be concerned?

Stupid.

To paraphrase Tolstoy, “All happy Winklers are alike, but every unhappy trout is unhappy in its own way.”

That's the stereotypical LA cool guy sport fishing pose holding the fish far in front to make it look bigger. It's Okay for ling cod or white sea bass. For trout, it's unseemly.

If you haven't watched Winkler's recent visit to the Rich Eisen show, you should. It's available on Youtube.

A solid rainbow, great fun.

Meade's got the thread winner - you can all go home now.

Actors know their best pose. They're posers.

John Lurie seems to be angling for an influencer's reputation. While he needn't bait anyone -- he already has that lurie smell -- we may be assured many will be reeled in, hanging fallen for his quip, hook, line, and sinker. But not Quaestor; I'm not hooked. On a scale of 1 to 10, John Lurie is a 3 at best. He can troll to his heart's content, but Lurie will never be my chum. Mark my words, a monumental Luie gaff is in the offing, and when it comes, the backlash will be similarly monumental. He may be able to tackle the issue at first, but he'll eventually get snagged. Then it will be a choice between the frying pan and the fire.

Fonzie's having fun...give him a break.

Besides, he paid a LOT of money for those choppers...

Fishing is easy…

Twitter fishing stories are hard.

Meade, ha!

Did you all ever watch Better Late than Never? A travel show with Winkler, George Foreman, Terry Bradshaw, William Shatner, and a host/comedian guy going to places all over the world?

gilbar said...

that's just way it goes.. Some Trouts LIVE for the camera.. Some are Really blasé

Ann Althouse said...

I adore John Lurie — Fishing with John and Painting with John are my favorite kind of tv show.

Humperdink said...

John Lurie: "I find it disturbing ....."

Let me break this to you John, if this trivial act of smiling disturbs you, please seek help. There are bigger fish to fry (doing my best Quaestor, but not at his level of humor).

Skeptical Voter said...

autres temps autres moeurs----some fish find it hard to smile when being held out of the water. OTOH, every fisherman has the same smile when holding a big catch!

I won't pass comment on the Fonz's acting ability--other than to note that his leather jacket did most of the acting.

The Vault Dweller said...

Go easy on the Fonz. Everyone has a face they affect for the generic, "Smile for the camera." request. As an actor something tells me Henry Winkler has gotten a lot of practice runs.

Speaking of expression. Right now I’m at one of my nephews baby shower and my brother took selfies with several of the young ones and he (my brother) put on his full Henry Winkler (except close mouth) for each selfie. but the young ones, all have an expressionless 😑 almost dead eye look to them. I can’t help speculate 🧐 it might be the result of watching a certain type of YouTube video aimed at the young that’s heavy on evocative expressions. I’ve noticed them watching these types of videos every time the fam gotten together for the last several years.

Gee, I don’t remember ever having to declare 2 thread winners in the very same thread but there you go!

Anyone who thinks Henry Winkler isn't a great actor should watch "Barry" (in which he plays a terrible acting teacher and mostly terrible person). He's got expressions up the wazoo.

Friendo said...

Vicki from Pasadena-lighten up a bit, jeez.

I have noticed that people who get photographed a lot have one or two stock smiles that they use. Look through posed photos of actors or politicians and it starts to look uncanny.

He's very good!

Potsie (Anson Williams) is running for mayor of Ojai.

I guess Lenny and Squiggly turned down the honor.

Joe Smith said...

His best moment in a small role is a scene in "Arrested Development."

'Aaay.'

Nice fish, A brown trout, a cutthroat and a rainbow. I guess he hasn’t caught a bragging size brookie yet.

Is that "Stranger Than Paradise" John Lurie?

Looks a lot like Jon Stewart

Squiggy’s dead, Rollo. I’m sorry I had to be the bearer of bad news.

I watched John Lurie in Stranger than Paradise last night. A great movie.

Henry Winkler is great in “Barry”, and “Barry” is a great show! Watch it!!
Also lol that someone named Lurie makes a comment about fishing

Finally, speaking of fishing… watch “Alone” So good!

Plus! He's out fly fishing for trout! A good day by anyone's metric. "Bragging size brookie" is relative to the water you're fishing.

I have a bunch of photos of myself with big (or maybe not as big as they appear in the photos) fish. Same expression. (Not the fish).

BTW I have recently learned (too late, alas, for some nice, innocent fish) that when you hold up the fish you should hold it horizontally and support the stomach, and that it is bad to hold them up vertically, as their innards are developed for the relatively weightless environment of water and their guts get stressed when you hold them up.

That is todays lesson.

He’s fishing at Dick Cheney’s secret hideaway, which I’m reliably informed by my guide, to be Henry’s Fork - (and I just noticed the convergence as I typed this)
